I spent several years investigating child abuse in Florida and spent a ton of time with the police. When they flip on their lights to get through an intersection, they are most likely on a call. If you see full lights and sirens there is a BIG emergency. Routine calls still require haste, just not break neck speeds.
This must have been both an extremely challenging and extremely rewarding job, good work
@@sothere1 - yes, and working for the government makes it even worse with their refusal to stand up for their stand, completeness willing to throw people right under the bus, though all the problems are a lack of staff due to budgetery concerns. I got lucky and got the right interview at the right time. Jumped ship and never looked back. I ended up in pharma research (still helping people), but now, I get to work from home and I make what I made then, plus another hunder grande a year. I truly appreciate all that work taught me and the invaluable skills I learned. But that is not a lifer career.

Do they still use active radars? In my country they're completely gone. Only passive cameras. On almost every pole. The satnav apps know all the locations, but by now it's meaningless - just assume they're everywhere.

The sound @ 6:57 is the aftermarket radar detection device used to detect police speed radars and alerts with the sound we hear in the background of the clip. In Sweden I think it’s illegal to use them but I don’t know. Anyway stay safe and awesome. Ostani siguran I sjajan brate.

Fun fact about that u-turn in the clip that starts at about the 1:10 mark, that's at the intersection of King George Blvd. and 102 Ave in Surrey British Columbia Canada...here in this province U-turns are illegal at all controlled intersections unless otherwise indicated. so not only did the idiot do the illegal u-turn...but to do it in front a cop...priceless.

IMO the cammer at 1:50 should have predicted that the cars in the left lane will merge to the right, and that some will be late with merging. Even if they had 100% right of way, it's better to be on defensive here.

When I used to have to commute to work in Sacramento in bumper to bumper traffic, every morning without fail a Sacramento PD car would get on the freeway, hit his lights and siren and get in the fast lane, then promptly turn them off. Such a jerk!

This is an old story, but in the early 90s some cops in the city district i lived in were running code 3 to the butcher and we all thought like there must have been a robbery or something. turned out they ordered food for the whole station and used lights and siren to ensure food gets to the station still hot 🤣🤣

Yes, I've seen cops use the lights just to get through a red light, or to get to the donut shop faster.

In the US, radar detectors are legal in 48 of the 50 states. Mississippi and Virginia are the only states that they are illegal and some others have issues with the detectors being placed on the windshields.

Yes, I would say that most of the time, the police are on a call however, when I lived in a small city in Georgia, if it was time for shift change, the cops would turn on their lights or even use their sirens just to not get penalized for being late for the on coming shift. Their was an investigation and the mayor and police chief were involved and discharged from their positions.
I like hearing stories like these, it`s always interesting to know how things go in other countries, good or bad. Thanks for sharing this with us. :)

fwd you want to slide put some trays under rear wheels at lower speeds higher speeds lift of over-steer(weight transfer to the front) but you need bit room for that and shorter wheel base more twitchy it is more easy longer wheel base car 2:58 . you can have fun slide in fwd car too but best of the public roads and away from cops as even a private place can be classed public space unless it gated

This is the US, IDK about other countries. Anyways, they are legal in 49 out of the 50 states. The one state where they're illegal is Virginia. However, despite that, I've heard of a few Virginian drivers that use them anyways.

I probably see moving police cars one or two times, on average, on my 120-kilometer commute route. Usually they drive at sensible speed, no hurry, no signals - just "projecting power". If there is a siren, it is almost always an ambulance plowing through congestion, not police. The government decided to make money through cameras, and with literally millions of cameras everywhere, road police is almost extinct.
Sometimes here they use police cars or an ambulance for their private everyday stuff so they don`t have to use their own car. You drive everyday around 120km, that is impressive.
0:24 looks like Rhyl my best mate lives sea side town, do have a fav duel carriageway i lookout for the puma , its a fun 1 and half mile slight up hill climb a 70 mph road, seen mates do over 130mph on it i might push a bit in my city car but now on lookout black puma before i have a little fun nothing too crazy but bit safe fun very light traffic
would not surprise me if my mate knows driver blue focus, she knows a lot crazy drivers around area, even she had 2.5 volvo engine focus, and before that caught many times no license but she eventually listened to me to do test as she must done 30k miles without one and caught a lot times last one she only just managed to escape jail. now i know my fav fast road in that area look out black puma for the rare times i want bit power and speed, normally leave it for mates, get lift if i want to see crazy speed, locals drive like they on fire
Yea, I've seen too often the police ease up to the intersection, wait a second or two then hit the lights, go through, and then turn them off and clearly are not in a rush to go anywhere. They are just helping the public practice getting the hell over them when there is an actual emergency.

Here in South Africa, we have what we call the "blue light brigade", police who escort government "VIP's" i.e. corrupt mafia lowlifes. They push everybody off the road. Thankfully, now that more people have dash cams, their bullshit is being shown on the media and they're getting into shit. The most recent incident was when they pulled over a car, dragged the occupants out and beat the shit out of them on the side of the road. All caught on camera. Resulted in arrests and prison for a few of them. They were part of the vice president/scumbag's detail.
In poland it is the same , ive been arested few times and police is just using lghts to get through the traffic, when there is no need

But they were driving on the right, and he parked on the inside shoulder (which is daft) which means his driver door would be against the crash barrier so it was spectacufail from start to finish

7:18 I was driving down a single lane no pass road with a semi in front and an unmarked cop behind. i sped up to about 10 over when the line went dotted to pass and the cop turned on their lights. i pulled over, they drove past me, turned off their lights and sped away
