It is easy to see the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 as the key assaults that finally defeated the Japanese in the Second World War , but on the very same day as the second city was bombed Stalin launched his Manchuria Campaign, a vast, long planned and well resourced and commanded assault against Japanese forces, which would involve 1.5 million Soviet soldiers and continue a historic struggle between the two powers which originated in the earliest years of the 20th Century.

The Imperialist / Fascist Japanese got a taste of the Soviet military onslaught , as the Nazi- Germany had endured in a hellish ordeal . The Soviet military cut through Japanese defences , in Japanese held Manchuria , like a hot knife through butter , for Japan wasn't geared in the powerful armoured clashes the Soviets would present . The Japanese , Air , and Naval forces were decimated. and so was Japan's manpower .
Also , Manchuria was a territory of China's originally , until Imperialist/ Fascist Japan invaded it back in 1932 ; some historians claim the Manchurian invasion by Japan in 1932 was the beginning of WW2 , or a definite harbinger of perilous worldly things to come .
