    I’ve been looking for that colour wheel for so long. Forgot where I’d seen it. Yay.

    Warm Blue + Cool Red = Vibrant Purple
    Warm Yellow + Warm Red = Vibrant Orange
    Cool Blue + Cool Yellow = Vibrant Green
    Learned this from you! Honestly, once you explained it in previous videos, it all made sense.

    Your videos always make my day better :)
    I absolutely LOVE the Artist's Color Wheel from Handprint. I was just looking at it again the other day, and also the Artist's Value Wheel. I didn't really understand the Value Wheel till the other day. Turns out it's really helpful for a series I'm doing now.

    I use titanium white, metallic white, quin crimson, pthalo blue gs, and indian yellow... first off, you need white, and having a metallic white allows for metallic colors... so why the 3 colors? India yellow i fell in love with, its the closest color to pure sunlight, you just have to belive me, its a dark heavy gold that thins to a pure bright lemon yellow... purple is extremely hard to mix, but my yellow is so orange, so i pick pthalo blue green shade, dark colors that thin light are your friend... quin crimson looks almost purple, so it gives vibrant purples, with my gold color still makes amazing oranges... my sacrifice is on the greens, i mix very dark dirty natural greens... and to anyone that doesnt know, all 3 colors make a great black, black with more blue is greyish and black with more orange is brownish

    Really enjoyed this video (and your videos in general).
    Thanks in part to your videos, I was inspired/ motivated to get back into sketching earlier this year.
    I have also been wanting to get back into color (watercolors/ markers) - it's been ages since I touched colors, so I'll be coming back to your videos for (LOTS of) help.
    Thank you for your videos. They are enjoyable to watch, and educational at the same time.
    Thanks for sharing!

      You can use it to find good colours for mixing, or you can use it for colour theory, e.g. complementary, analogous, etc.

    A 5ml tube Schminke for same price as Sennelier 10ml tube, which one would you buy?
    Daniel Smith 15ml is about the same amount as 10ml Schminke.

    By the way sir teo, do you have a review of alpha ecole watercolors?..... I bought a 7.5 mm 24 color set last week and i didnt open it yet until this day. I find that theres no pigment info of every color they use... But it was professional paint..... I hope you do some review for that.... Thanks.

    A bit of an off topic question: I have this Winsor and Newton palette that you are using, and want to put more pans in there like you did, but it only came with 2 dividers. Would you happen to know where to get more dividers for it? Or did you just have an extra one from a different watercolor box?
    Excellent video by the way!

    • @teohyc

    • @mumfESC

      When I look at lesser known brands, the first thing I think of is what will happen when I need to replace the pen nibs or the pen itself. Will it be easy to find replacements.

    Hi Teoh, this may be a little off topic and it has probably been asked before, but what do you do about watercolour tube paint that has separated? I live in a fairly remote area and I have ordered some tubes from an art store that have already arrived separated. I also find that the Siennas separate over time. Do you have any theory why it happens and also what to do about it? It is a waste of $$. Should I go to pans instead? Thanks!

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  2 роки тому

      Use a toothpick or needle to mix the pigment and binder.
      If you keep the tubes on the side with the cap at the top, the binder will float and pigment will sink. You can actually just squeeze out the binder

    • @robinwild1
      @robinwild1 2 роки тому

      @@teohyc thanks, I will give it a try. I am assuming you mean the tubes tilted on an angle with the cap end upward. I was ready to throw them out.

    I thought we should just mix warm with warm. Eg if I should mix a warm red with a warm blue, or a cool red with a cool blue... so that I won't get a muddy purple. Is that correct? Thank you!

    • @zerocalvin
      @zerocalvin 2 роки тому

      a really easy way to remember is, to get a vibrant secondary color, just mix color that look like the secondary color...
      if you want a bright orange, look for yellow and red that look like orange
      if you want a bright green, look for yellow and blue that look like green
      if you want a bright purple, look for red and blue that look like purple

    • @lizziedae91
      @lizziedae91 2 роки тому

      I also learned this and found it works well, I think this color wheel allows you to not just avoid muddy colors but to actually figure out what would give you the most vibrant mix. I would love Teoh to explain this further though!

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  2 роки тому +5

      To get a vibrant purple, you have to mix cool red with warm blue.
      If you look at the colour wheel, you can see the cool reds are closer to the warm blue, vs warm red and warm blue. The closer the primary colours, the more vibrant the mix will be.
