Alliance Sam here!! Just like a little kid playing with his toys in the sandbox. I'm going to look around for a used mini excavator. I love this channel. 😎😎
They're great, I just don't have enough use for one to justify the ridiculous price to buy one....for the once a year or once a decade I use one its much better to rent it for a day LOL.
You can never waste time using an excavator.....you can only clock up invaluable experience.....neat strop release Sam, very smooth! Looking forward go your next update....
@@samsdoinstuff Sam......learning? It was done like a pro.👌 Sympathetic and smooth machine control should normally result in a better job, and less wear and tear on the machine. And I have learnt so much from your channel. Great job 👏
People genuinely love a video of equipment resurrecting. I subscribed just because of that video and enjoyed this one. Plus the information you shared servicing it was great. Keep it up love the channel.
I would have suggested you wrap the culvert peices in ground fabric at the joints. As they settle in, the joints may open up. The farbric would keep the water from washing out and/or sucking dirt into the culvert. Maybe there is not much flow in your creek?
Sam, You ask for suggestions as to what to do with the silo. I couldn't think of anything to do with it. However, you did, and in the process, you found more materials to complete the bridge. You also used the old tile to build the bridge. That is putting scrap to good use; as for the BX and the excavator, you have made a perfect choice of tools. If I had it to do over again, I would have purchased a Kubota with a loader long before age sixty-eight. Like you, I can get much more work done using a loader.
Good morning Sam, that's awesome how well your last video did! You sure can get a lot of work done with that beast of a machine. You did a fine job using the excavator. I am in a big need of something that can dig, rental won't work so I plan to buy and have been looking for something for the right price. Wow, everything is so expensive. Keep up the outstanding work and have a great day!
We need to see one project at a time. Brush cleaning and burning. Creek clean out. Bridge build. Keep the videos coming. Try to incorporate more video filming from outside and give us the sped up version stopping to explain what you doing. 👍
Great job Sam! I'm glad that UA-cam showed me this for this morning, I really think you've got a great channel and I feel the same way you do is we all need to learn from each other. I'm going to have to go back and see what videos I've missed I guess cause I definitely missed why your making the creek. Only thing I hate about UA-cam is the way it lets me see what I've subscribed to, and sometimes it unsubscribes me even if I like a bunch of their videos. Anyway, have a great day! And great work!
Thank you so much! And welcome to the channel!!! Definitely go back and check out what I've done to improve the barns too! They were a mess when I started. Enjoy!!! 🤠👍
Nicely done with the strops! Saves filling your boots with mud. That silt and sludge would make good top dressing when it dries. Should have lots of good compost in it.
Those boulders are great for fencing/barriers around gates/ entry areas...or the leading and trailing openings of the pipes for the culvert. Helps protect water intrusion around the pipes and diverts the debris through the pipes. Just my thoughts.
You have made progress. But anytime you work on a water way you need to start at the drainage end first. Work your way to the head of the waterway. Then muck out all the Mudd and topsoil where you're putting in a culvert. Next put in stone or subsoil clay under the pipe to grade. Then place more clean clay around it to seal it off and protect it from the rock. That will make it last as long as the culvert does.
Thank you! I quickly learned about starting at the drainage end first. Definitely works better. There's a good layer of clay and rock under the culvert pipes. I was going to use rock around them and fill in with whatever fill I can find. I'll try to find clay if I can. Thank you!!! 🤠 👍
@@samsdoinstuff I'm definitely not trying to pick on your work. But you are man enough to ask for help so I'm extending my hand. More important is enjoying the time making your place yours. Just let me know if I'm putting in too much. Best wishes on your adventures.
I just watched your last video for the first time. Man what a great deal with your brother on the excavator. I only wish I could find a deal like that. Great job on the maintenance. I did subscribe after watching you do stuff. LOL. Have fun with your new toy. Thanks for the videos.
I am in the process of getting a rake attachment for my mini ex. The dirt by enlarge sifts through the tines. Great for logging activity and raking roots out of the ground. This attachment will likely be on the machine most of the time.
Heck yea now now your cooking with fire. 🔥. That sludge/ sediment pile IS THE BEST GARDEN SOIL. Once it dries, use it in raised beds and as a top soil on the ground. This I my little secret.!! Everytime me and my 2 sons go to the creek we bring home a cupple buckets of that stuff. Mixed with firm clay soil 🤌🏻. PS. Great freakin work and congratulations on all the subs.!!!
An excavator is used to dig, not load. A loader is used to load, not dig. You found this to true in this video. RIght machine for the job makes all the difference in the world. Nice work setting those pipe sections.
Oh a nother thing Check track tention . Swing arm around to the side you want to check first . then drop bucket down and lift the track off the ground then check at the middle , 3mm from track to middle roller. half way down the blue section between tracks there is a cover .under it youcan find a grease nipple pump grease to tighten tracks
That silo is a nice burn pit but not at all necessary, especially with all that open space you have. Just pile it up out of the way in a place you can burn it. You are likely better off filling that silo if you arent going to use it for anything..
Now that you got an excavator you need a tractor with a dump trailer. It doesn't need to be big and expensive at all. You shouldn't use your nice trailer for the pickup truck.
You really probably wanna change out the hydraulic oil and all the filters as it has been sitting for years not getting used and who knows when it was last done. And also when your operating the machine try to have it at full throttle all the time as running it at a low idle it will not get enough hydraulic pressure which will lead to it stalling out and loss of power.
I have rented a very small excavator twice in the past. I watched some UA-cam to get familiar with the controls and took it very slow. You can do a lot of damage very fast, so take your time. You'll get it 🤠👍
No you're not wasting time by handling twice you getting used to the equipment that you're running plus when you take a Bush or anything out of the ground make sure you shake off the Dirt Off The Roots
That's sweet of him!!!! Man I sure can do some damages with that!!!! I'm looking at a skid steer rightnow. Th only problem I have with it. Is it was in a building fire. The fire never touched it. But it did get hot.
I think that's just about the perfect size mini ex for land owners... I would love to have one, i'll actually be renting one this year or next year :( ... It looks like you are getting the hang of it pretty quick, and your land is going to be coming together pretty quick I think... Have a great rest of week Sam.

Thank you! I will do that. Maybe I can get rid of that annoying squeak? 🤠👍
You should be sloping your creek banks back on both sides so they don't sluff off right back into the creek over time...
My goodness! You must be reading my mind, lol. I was just thinking about that today as I cleaned up the rest of the spoils 🤠👍
You should have put a fairly decent layer of dirt on the floor of the trailer before you put the rocks in so you don't dent the floor.
That is a great idea! I will keep that in mind for future loads. I did not dent it, but I was nervous. Thanks again 🤠👍
Good job! We watched in about 14 minutes. How long did it actually take you to do all this work?
Thank you!!! 3 days, lol 😆 I get about 6 hours a day while my daughter is in school 🤠👍

I like the silo for 2 reasons. It hides the pile of brush while it dries, and it is way less dangerous to the farmers' fields 🤠👍

Why bother removing scrub when you're going to dump giant boulders on top of it? The boulders would've easily buried the brambles.
Good point. I guess I just didn't want to deal with them and there's more that I pulled that won't get covered. Heck, it was fun! 🤠👍
