Well, Bruce can't be right about everything. It is definitely a Christmas movie. 1. The basic narrative situation of Die Hard is a man returning to his family for Christmas. 2. It's set at Christmas Eve. Furthermore, it takes place during a holiday office party. 3. It has Christmas music. The “Die Hard” soundtrack is loaded with Christmas songs. 4. John’s wife, Holly, has a Christmasy name. 5. Santa Claus makes an appearance. 6. It has dozens of Christmas references. 7. It has a Grinch. (Hans Gruber) 8. Hans Gruber explicitly invokes the Christmas spirit: “It’s Christmas, Theo, it’s a time for miracles.” 9. The screenwriter, Stephen E. de Souza, said it is. 10. Director John McTiernan confirmed is is. ("We hadn't intended it to be a Christmas movie," the director told the AFI, "but the joy that came from it is what turned it into a Christmas movie.") 11. The film ends with the of character of limo driver Argyle (De'voreaux White) looking forward to New Year’s Eve. 14. Millions of Americans watch “Die Hard” on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day every year. Not only is it a Christmas movie, it's the greatest Christmas movie of all time!
It's so surreal seeing Bonnie and Bruce laughing with each other, they do such a great job of creating the tension between them I always had it in my head the actors didn't like each other.
A couple weeks ago, the Orleans Hotel in Vegas brought "Die Hard" back to the big screen. Surprisingly, there were only about 7 of us in the entire theatre. Sad turnout...but I still felt like a kid seein' it for the first time! Such an iconic film.

One correction. The film was launched in Finland with the title "Die Hard - vain kuolleen ruumiini yli". Direct translation into English: "Die Hard - only over my dead body". In any case, Alan Rickman was perfect in his role and apparently he was a very nice person as well.

I always thought that had they not killed off Alan in Die Hard. They could have made at least one more Die Hard with him as the Baddie and made even more money. They could have arranged for just him to escape in the first movie. People loved him as the bad guy. They did the same to him in Robin Hood. Like Die Hard, Alan brought so much to the Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie as the bad guy. That had they not had him those movies would NOT have been as successful. Now unfortunately he's gone and I do miss seeing him in movies. I often thought also that when they had the bad guy character in Die Hard 3. They could have brought Alan back as the bad guy. Claiming he was the identical twin of Alan's character from the first Die Hard. Die Hard has always been one of my most favorite movies.
Would have been cool though, Alan Rickman returning, and Jeremy Irons featured as brothers seeking revenge on McLane. I would have dumped the "stealing gold from the Reserve bank" story and just made it about them and McLane.

It's A Wonderful Life was released January 7th and it's not about Christmas at all until the very end. Die Hard plays two Christmas songs (one over the closing credits) it chimes Christmas bells in the background throughout, it's set on Christmas eve, has a Christmas party, is about a guy flying in to see his family for Christmas, puts a santa hat on the dead terrorist with ho ho ho in blood on his shirt, mentions getting invited to the Christmas party to Hans much later in the film, tapes his gun on his back with Christmas tape, smiles at a Santa Claus, the limo driver mentions Christmas and new years at the end, Hans says it's Christmas it's the time for miracles, when the vault opens the computer guy says Merry Christmas and with all of that the underlying story is appreciating family over himself, just like Home Alone and It's A Wonderful Life. Oh and like Kevin Mcalister, he's all alone fighting bad guys. The internet wasn't really common until 1999 or 2000, and even then most didn't have desktops in their houses and constantly reading blogs until further into the new century. However, the reason in 07 he chose to make the claim was because people had been word of mouth saying they watch die hard at Christmas for years
In total agreement with you. You have so many people saying it's a Christmas movie because they watch it every Christmas. OK, fine, but other movies are shown on Christmas Day that have nothing to do with Christmas. Yes, I enjoy watching the movie on Christmas, but I also enjoy it just as much watching it in July, which to me, for most people, should be the tie-breaker if you have any doubts. To add to your point about a relative lack of Christmas songs, even the mini-orchestra playing at the "Christmas" party is not playing constant Christmas music.
Die Hard 1,2 and the 3rd films are my favourite, the following films just didn’t seem to have the same type of script atmosphere, but there still watchable just because they have Bruce Willis in the films.
The German wasn't gibberish. I speak German and it was all very basic (e.g., "Nein nein, warte noch" = "no, no, wait a sec" or "Schiess den Fenster" = "Shoot the window") but syntactically and grammatically correct. In Czech and Slovak its called : "Smrtonosná past"/"Smrtonosná pasca" witch translates as "A deadly trap" or "Deadly trap" (for the series its just + a number on the end no word plays like in english)
After being accused of being a common thief by Holly. At the time, this was true, however, these days he would indeed be called a terrorist. You don't need a radical ideology to be called one anymore.
When Bruce shoots through the window, goes through it and has to get the hose off before going out the window! I even said, OMG...out loud! LOL! During the blooper, when Bruce and Bonnie started laughing. When it was supposed to be an emotional moment!
One of my favorite Christmas movies. Watch it every year and part 2. Welcome to the party pal! Girls, follewd by funky sound affect. Awe such a classic.
Some of the American audience DID notice that the German they were speaking was bullshit. My Grandmother was raised in Germany until she was 11, they immigrated to the states in 1933. Anyway, she rented this movie for us when it first came out and she actually laughed during one scene and said "they aren't saying anything at all- that isn't German"!! If you don't believe me, you can ask her, she is still alive today! Grandma turns 100 on Dec 14th!
Uh I guess they dubbed or were corrected, because the in the short clip they show, the dialog is definitely German! The one guy says: " hey brother" the other says "wait". And then says: "no, no, wait a minute".

Way cool this vid mentioned about them alt movie titles around the world - and then even mentioned Finland (Die Hard - Vain Kuolleen Ruumiini Yli (Only over my dead body) ). I actually do have an og Finnish poster from the movie. Die Hard is SO damn fantastic of an CHRISTMAS MOVIE!!
The German speech you posted in this video definitely isn't gibberish. They go "Hello brother" and the guy on the floor respond, "just a moment" and then "no, no, no", because it makes perfect sense... it's way more important to stop his brother than saying hello back. It makes perfect sense and there's no gibberish whatsoever. I don't remember the other German speaking scenes from the movie except for the one where Hans ends up yelling "SHOOT THE GLASS" after the german guy apparently doesn't understand - OR hears, since Hans whispers - "Schieß dem fenster" which is also not gibberish at all.
*This vid reminds me of a play* *"Much Ado About Nothing"* ___________ ( *Take some clips & then create meaningless dialog to get 'Clicks'* ) *Brilliant!*
You showed Tony nagivating the corridors to get to the phone lines around the part you said they were talking gibberish. Tony was saying "links...rechts und hier links" which means "left...right and here left"

If you are going to show bloopers, then show bloopers, not you talking through everything .
Thank you for uploading this.
Die Hard is better than Nothing Lasts Forever but i find it endearing that Bruce will be remembered.
Die Hard is a Christmas staple for us.
And Alan Rickman is divine. Always ❤❤❤
Who else has gotten into arguements over if Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not?
If it wasn't a Christmas movie, it would not be a family tradition to watch it every Christmas gathering! ;-)
I watch Die Hard on Christmas Eve night every year.
Just saw this on the big screen with my 11yr old son. Wonderful bonding movie.
I don't care what Bruce Willis says, Die Hard is the ultimate Christmas movie and they view it on television every Christmas
Watched it at the Odeon in Harrogate, England when it first came out. Haven’t seen it since.
@1:49 They weren’t terror-ists, they were thieves. “Who said we were terror-ists?” - Hans Gruber 😁
Best villain since Victor Maitland in Beverly Hills Cop
Die Hard is my favourite movie of all time but i never get the 'kiss your dalmation' quote 🤣
Bruce Willis in the shaft "crawl through a shaft they said...it'll be fun they said...."
6:01,thats one of rickmans gang at the end when he gets shot in the head ,he is not the desk clerk at the beginning
Está película no pasa de moda y gracias a ti también podemos saber detalles de la elaboración buen trabajo sigue siendo asi
The title in France is close to the one in Spain and Poland too: it's called "Piège de cristal", meaning "Crystal Trap"
["Schieß dem fenster" which is also not gibberish at all.] ...Alter!
If anyone wants to know , Keii Johnstone is the name of Bruce Willis’ stunt double who missed the ledge , he fell 40 feet into an airbag
*This vid reminds me of a play* *"Much Ado About Nothing"*
___________
( *Take some clips & then create meaningless dialog to get 'Clicks'* )
*Brilliant!*
You showed Tony nagivating the corridors to get to the phone lines around the part you said they were talking gibberish.
Tony was saying "links...rechts und hier links" which means "left...right and here left"
Die Hard and Lethal weapon, I watch every Christmas!
"Die Hard" belongs to Christmas, like "Dinner for One" to New Years Eve
Editors : "What do you say at 2 minutes 55 seconds we throw in Jeremy Irons from Die Hard With A Vengeance?!" 😂
