This is my 1970 Kawasaki H1 500 LC four first engine start and gentle Rev to 6k more testing and a few details to finish then a full road test video to make.
I love the fact that your builds always look as if they are standard. If you didn't know Kawasaki hadn't made this you wouldn't know otherwise from looking at it. I admire your craftsmanship. I work on bikes for a living and I haven't a fraction of your abilities. You sir, have my utmost respect.
I second that. A few years ago I was at Sammy Miller’s when several of theses bike were on show, I had to double take when I saw 5 exhausts on what would have originally been a triple. Then I counted the cylinders. 5. I was very confused until I was told it was custom. What I really liked about it was that they all seemed to run so much better than the original S1A that I had back in 1980. Respect Sir. Love your work.
Simply amazing work, sir! Please make a video taking us through how you achieve this, I'm sure many people would like it as much as I will. Keep up the fantastic work!
Less zing.. More bark! .... As a fan of Kawasaki triples, (I've owned over 5 at once! ) this is amazing! I've always loved the sound of the cylinders ringing, but this motor with its muffled heads sounds awesome. Saving this video for sure
Yet ANOTHER AM Creation by the very gifted machinist....Stunning Allen! I have followed your work for many years and you always pay respect to the details....kudo's!
Allen - Think we all went to Heaven - where were you in 80's - when all we could buy were RD350LC's - why oh why did you not head up Yamaha - just think of what toys we all could have had in the 1980's anyway - SUPER Cool stuff - fiona in the office thinks your a Geek ! - we think your a God keep up the Legendary work Allen - we all dream !
Beautiful creation. I’ve owned 3 H-1’s over the years and would have loved the reliability and consistency of power that water cooling would give them.....and an extra cylinder wouldn’t hurt either!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yeah there's videos now, 2021, where heads and barrels are cut up, all sorts of welding and machining. I don't think they were around when you made this comment.
Wah, the sound is out of this world... I wish hearing in full acceleration load near the red line :-) I love 2 strokes so much Allen, your 2 stroke builds make me miss my 400 NSR...
Im like, "So what? A restored H1? Slowly realizing it grew a radiator, liquid cooled heads and an extra cylinder and exhaust pipe. Superbly sublime! You got me!
Your one clever man mr millyard, I've seen most of your videos on YT. If only you lived close to Manchester, I'd love to pop in for a chat. I'm not even in the same street as you. Keep the videos coming I think there brill
Outstanding. And I've never been a Kwak fan. Back in the day I was frequently blown off by the owners of these things - in air cooled mode of course. Then I read of the owners' demise. My friends all advised me not to buy a Honda CB250G5 - due to its reputed poor handling. And to be fair, it wasn't great. The issues were the then virtually plastic Bridgestones, and a sloppy rear end. Avon Roadrunners cured the tyre issue. Girlings sorted the rear end, and heavier oil in the forks made the ride firmer overall. Also played around with the head and carbs. Made a very quick bike when I was finished. So then I took her round Donington, and did so many laps I nearly emptied the tank. Only went home when Mr Wheatcroft himself tapped his watch! The circuit was nearing completion, but there was mud all over at Redgate. Great experience. Must have been summer of '78.
Wow What a bike. Thanks .... Brings back memories of when I was 18 and I’ll never forget. Now I Ride a 2014 Honda 650 F. That Kawasaki would blow it away. Those were the days! :-)
This is one of my favorite bikes that Allen Millyard has built. I wish Kawasaki had continued to make two stroke street bikes, because they would have been water cooled eventually.
I used to get my girlfriend to start my Kawasaki 500 Mach 3 with her hand while a pillion. She never had any trouble, they have almost no compression. Which makes it even harder to see where the 60 BHP comes from :)
I have had several 2 stroke bikes in my younger days. 1979 Yamaha Daytona Special, 1976 RD 400 and a 1973 Suzuki GT 750. I had Spec II build the hell out of the engine and fit it with their expansion chambers. It scared the hell out of me every time I rode it. Your 500 LC is brilliant Allen. Will you build one for me too please?
Thanks Allen, it's sounds like mission impossible mixing and matching parts from different manufacturers. I take it that the Kawasaki cases are like separate units for each cylinder, that would help make things easier. Must be great fun to make dream bikes as you do. The huge V-twin flying Millyard is a monster! Keep up the good work.
At idle u can hear the snappy stroke of the engine that's the compression n lighting Of those fossil fuels, both hydro carbons burning in this machine!!! I love fresh 2stroke!! Running rich on oil and high octane gas!!! I can almost smell it now!!!

The way Kawasaki should have done it in 1969! Your builds are the Best I have ever seen! Thank you!
The things you make are impressive, but it is incredible how fast you seem to pump them out.
Simply amazing work, sir! Please make a video taking us through how you achieve this, I'm sure many people would like it as much as I will. Keep up the fantastic work!
Congrats. Thats music for those who have premix on our blood. I can almost smell it though You Tube. Thank you for sharing.
dondeestacionar.com : I was about to say exactly the same thing !
The smell of Castrol R in a morning.
Oh I definitely smelled it also.
Stunning.. 30 yrs ago I gave away a KH250 because no one I knew could get it to run... You sir are a legend
Yet another magnificent creation Allen, you are a wizard 😀👍🏻👂🏻
I wouldn't have thought this level of engineering possible...I'm in awe....
Less zing.. More bark! .... As a fan of Kawasaki triples, (I've owned over 5 at once! ) this is amazing! I've always loved the sound of the cylinders ringing, but this motor with its muffled heads sounds awesome. Saving this video for sure
You made it look like it came from the factory exactly like that. Youre a wizard.
Allen, you are a engineering genius, extraordinaire. I love all your motorcycles but this one is my hands-down favourite.
Yet ANOTHER AM Creation by the very gifted machinist....Stunning Allen! I have followed your work for many years and you always pay respect to the details....kudo's!
Allen, beautiful work, another credit to you, looking forward to more on this machine, brilliant! Thank you!

A Kawasaki "kettle". Love the exhaust notes.
Beautiful creation. I’ve owned 3 H-1’s over the years and would have loved the reliability and consistency of power that water cooling would give them.....and an extra cylinder wouldn’t hurt either!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great craftsmanship, could we perhaps have video of you working in your shop please. Your an inspiration to so many of us.
Stunningly beautiful !
I'm really lost for words !
Thanks Alan top bloke keep em coming !
As a keen engineering student, I would love to see the work that goes into such a beautiful machine 😍 or even just get a few tips 😂
Just watch Allen’s other videos. After that you just have to do it your own way.
Yeah there's videos now, 2021, where heads and barrels are cut up, all sorts of welding and machining. I don't think they were around when you made this comment.

One more astonishing Millyard special. Bravo!

The genius that is Alan Millyard makes the bikes manufacturers wish they had, and regret that they never did

Astonishing & magnificent engineering
Hand starting a 2 stroke is impressive
Instead of a kickstarter, a flickstarter.
Gorgeous bike Allen.
Sounds so sweet and dialled in 👊🏻
Can't believe how good this sounds👍

That bike sounds so awesome
Another winner Mr. Millyard!
Japan could take a note , reproducing a true retro line like that , beautiful
I’m going to use it to mow a field soon 🙈
Almost died on one of these as a teenager. An absolute monster in sheep’s clothing. Love the sound.
O to be 18 again, Thanks 😎
Beautiful machine and the sound.
Stunning sound!
This is one of my favorite bikes that Allen Millyard has built. I wish Kawasaki had continued to make two stroke street bikes, because they would have been water cooled eventually.
Outstanding build.
What a beauty, Allen.
A thing of pure beauty...
Cool freaking stuff . Like to see internal parts of water pump . I'd be happy just to have a water cooled three cylinder .
This stuff is incredible!
Man, that crackle brings me back
Good idea with spring & washer trick
Beautiful bike, sounds great!
Sounds Sick hatsoff Allen❤️🔥
That is so awesome. Wow, what an amazing bike.
Gorgeous, and you can turn it over with your hand.
just a gently press and it fires up

Love the hand start
A work of art? YESS!!
Beautiful bike!
Those look like TZ cylinders.
Yamaha today is the day!
Your a flipping star Allen.
Nice work Allen Millyard is a great engineer. I wonder if a special crankcase and new one piece crankshaft is made?
I modified Kawasaki H1 cases as usual do l into a four, then added Yamaha LC top ends. The crank is made from yamaha and suzuki parts
Thanks Allen, it's sounds like mission impossible mixing and matching parts from different manufacturers. WOW... amazing work.
wow i love this to nice work allen
Hah hah, sounds like a Mazda 26B 4-rotor! Wouldn't it be fun to have that under the hood of an old Saab 96 rally car?!😁👍 Nice job Allen!
Instant grin on my stupid face ! Thanks mate !
Beautiful work Alan!!!!
Every bike is better then the original
All hail the mighty Millyard!
Fantastic. You designed and built the water cooling?
RD250 barrells and heads
Brilliant, I wish he would show Triumph how to make a four.
thank you for your reply allen
Holy shitwinds. 0-100 yesterday. So fast time backed up.
Just perfect!
Awesome :)
Great Work!
The guy is s engendering genius.

nice bike, you fix the smoky exhaust and we all will want one.
Love the cackle of a KH.
Dennis Franz is another motorcycle genius look his v8 bike up
Superbe travail
There is one bike I wish I'd never got rid of.
YAMAHA RD400.
I just keep hoping you start doing something with one of them
