  • Memphis International Raceway opened in 1987. The facility hosted the NHRA Mid-South Nationals, IHRA Nitro Jam, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series; now known as the ARCA Menards East Series. Sadly, this facility shutdown in 2022 and as I far I know the facility sits abandoned. Thanks for watching the history of this facility.

Glad we still have Richmond Raceway and Iowa Speedway. Tracks that are similar in size and shape.

I will say that Iowa was a better race than Richmond last year.

Memphis 1992 - John Force saw Elvis at 1,000 feet.

@@Todd-w1v Never heard that from John Force before. Went and saw an interview on Dale Jr's podcast about that wreck.

Memphis was a decent facility but that whole county/area of Tennessee is just a total crap hole. NASCAR never drew much of a crowd or big sponsorship dollars even during its heyday. But I’d rather see the place revitalized than be bulldozed.

Thanks for preserving this bit of history. I like tracking ownership and financing.
