Finished Persona 5 Royal? Subscribe for daily Persona videos! I post stuff you might've missed, unused cutscenes, unique dialogue and more!
Judging by the amount of Persona footage you've seen repeatedly, you must be so sick and tired of this game by now.
What kinda stuff do u imagine they'd do
@@lihanou - A passion for something can last forever if one puts their attention to it and it could be either good or bad when you compare it to life getting in the way sometimes.
Thanks for this video? Do you plan to make a mods for unlock it in game for pc version ?
Just finished it yesterday 😼
Sheesh, the thought of him being tortured and having to recall an entire year of events, and then having to go into battle right away, suddenly explains why we can only play during the afternoon. He spends the whole morning healing.
@@Joker3180Z Ren, your team is here, and they're crying
Ryuji: RenRen!
Ann: would you like some cake?
@@joshuabergman3292 heh..
cake 😏
This is actually still in the final game, it's just a lot less obvious since it's on the left side of the room while the interrogator is kicking Joker around. So Joker still got that kind of torture, which just makes this scene even more fucked up.
Since what is on the left side of the room?
@@chickenman1236 the scissors and needles and whatnot on that thing at the end
I think the message was clear with just 1 needle and bruises. Of course I live in an area where an officer had charges filed against for stuff like this. So I kinda already know how badly things are for our hero in this situation.
Ah, so I assume nothing happened to the officer?
@@bestaround3323 according to the news he's finally been convicted. After many years.
@@MoleBradRy Huh, well that is surprising. Normally they get away with just a slap on the wrist.
Yeah it is pretty unnecessary. Also this could give young teens playing the wrong impression.
@@bestaround3323 He was getting slaps on the wrist for a lot of things. Dude just knew how to play the system. Until recently.
I'm still disappointed we never got back to that integrator for revenge.
Ohh great point. He could have been a mementos mission!
@@milkflavored Yeah, he had the most punchable face too lmao
because he was generally doing his job. He thought joker was a criminal who killed people. Wtf you expected
@@glezard212 still you don’t torture someone if it’s a criminal, especially a teen
@@glezard212 No integrator casually beats up a minor even if they're charged with murder. It's just plain unnecessary cruelty, he was definitely having a power trip.
Maybe Atlus felt it was a bit too on the nose to have the torture be that intense. I’m glad they cut out the cutscene of the Phantom Thieves beating up Ryuji tho.
Did ATLUS really cut it out?
Wait what they cut that out
Really? Wow character development right there
You talking about 7th palace? They didn't remove that...
@@joaolima7131 They're talking about the cut version where its literally animated that all the characters are hitting Ryuji, the developers probably realized that this bit was absolutely horrible so they only left in the one you saw in the original P5 and P5R, which i would argue is still one of the worst scenes in the game, up there with the entire "morgana leaving" part of the game.
“Sae-san, the took three of my fingernails, do I really need to talk about Sojiro’s custody battle?”
“YES, IT’S IMPORTANT, NO SLEEP FOR YOU!”

I love this game so much that after 152 hours and and getting the true ending on PS4, i have an urge to play it again on Switch, Goddammit!
@Lucas The Phantom Thief hahaha so true, there's never been a more true statement
I had the joy of experiencing it the first time on my switch. I finished the game yesterday and I'm already replaying the game to get the royal special ending.

Sae: You have 5 minutes to tell me how you got into this situation.
P5 MC: ...Well, it all started with this drunky McBaldy messing around with this woman. She called out for help and I was the only one who at least tried to.
Sae: Yes. As I recalled, he sued you and you were in a protection program.
P5 MC: Yeah, and as I was on my way to my new school, this huge castle showed up out of nowhere, and inside it was this pervy king in pink panties, students in medieval torture devices, and this magical monster cat.
Sae: ...
P5 MC: I felt bad that Ryuji was getting beaten up by these "knights on nightmare steroids", so I ripped half of my face to show my true form.
Sae: ...How much did they pump into you?
Even if the interrogation was lighter, let it sink that these people assaulted a teenager. An underaged child. He's not old enough to drink and has never driven a car.
It's no wonder the Phantom Thieves exist. The adults are messed up in this world.
EDIT: Apparently my comment triggered some teenagers who don't understand that, even if Joker was legally an adult, he's still by all accounts a child who's still asking permission to go to the bathroom. I'm 33 and believe me that an 18-year-old is still very much a child lol.
And as far as they were aware, a mass murdering terrorist.
It's definitely twisted. I bring that up any time a friend takes an interest in the game. I think what makes P5 dark though is when you take time out to think deeply about it and consider the implications of particular events or hell, even fail states when you don't accomplish your primary objectives on time in game. It's honestly kind of unsettling.
When I was playing the intro, I thought of the following:
I. Isn’t it illegal in most countries to use torture?
II. Shouldn’t Joker’s parents be here during the interrogation given he’s in high school??
They exist in this world too unfortunately. You just dont hear about it as much
@@goldenrosie regarding number 2 his parents weren't there the only reason he went to shujin in the first place was so that his parents could send him far away and not have to live with the shame joker brought on his family the moment he got the criminal charge for helping a woman who was getting assaulted. Because apparently in Japan if you have any form of criminal record no matter how minor it's a social stigma and you are basically shunned in Japan. My assumption of Japan is that they stay in their lane and don't stick their necks out for other people.
The final version is better. It implies that they at least TRIED to cover things up.
I've heard stories of Japan's justice system being ruthless, but damn.
Their culture just wants to maintain their high conviction rates
It's not a justice system, it's a joke system
I thought it was going to be the usual joke with the brightness.
I'm happy they increased the brightness for the final game
Considering that this all started with the OG 80’s Digital Devil’s Story: Megami Tensei, it shouldn’t be a surprise that even the darkest of things happen in the main series and its spin offs like Persona. ATLUS can execute things like this well.😯😈
@Lucas The Phantom Thief - The more you know!🌈💫
And speaking of that, Persona 4 Golden is basically a modern, 2000’s version of the OG series I mentioned. Just think of Yu and Marie being the second coming of Akemi and Yumiko.😉
@Lucas The Phantom Thief - Indeed, Lucas.😯
cool! got any recommendations? Like games or media like fanfic, etc? wondering
@@-Siknakaliux-II - For the games, it honestly depends on what console you have. I can recommend you Persona 5 Royal since it released for all platforms just a month ago.🤔
For media, there’s Persona manga, but who would want to read if you can play the game AND read?😁
I’ll never understand why people think more (often times unrealistic) violence equals better and darker. Dark and well written is grounded in a sense of reality, tackling subjects and themes in mature or complex ways. P5R already does this in spades and then some, with it starting on the Kamoshida arc of all things. Putting a few more weapons on the table doesn’t add much, and I’m honestly glad it stayed more grounded for the real world stuff
I mean torturing people for information is realistic too but yeah this is borderline like Dark Web territory, where you pay someone to watch them be tortured and borderline rated A tbh. So I'm glad they realized that's a bit too dark and dialed it back a bit
hate to break it to you but Joker was tortured, the table was on the corner of the room and you can see it when Joker was getting kicked. if you wanna complain about it not being grounded, it is. Japan's criminal justice system is absolutely fucked
ok there's a bunch of scissors, what could they possibly do? Cut off his testicle wires?
@@damasakeor they could stab him
I always had the impression that P5 was toned down because of that first teaser with the chairs and iron balls, that seemed like a totally different atmosphere. And I really wish they would have kept that =/
you wanted to watch ren get tortured? ☠️
@@notafalconsfan7897 hahaha not exactly that, but I kinda wanted the story to have a more dark/serious tone (like P3). For example, that part on the Casino with the plots twists, THAT was really well done, but then it got back to the cheesy stuff. I miss the SMT part of Persona.
But I do like P5 :)
@@yurimessias11 Persona 5 was dark and serious
@@BitchChill eeh, I don't think so.

Did literally the government literally like did this to a kid just because of a drunk politician?
No, they did it because they put him as the scape goat for a string of psychotic breaks. Also leader of the phantom thieves
Welcome to Brazil
Its a sad shame you can't change that adult's heart.
Just like Haru's fiance.
when i saw that tray i was like "JESUS FUCK". With the way joker was sitting with his arms crossed i mistaken the buttons on his wrist to be blood on his fingers. And with the scissors on the tray I bought it.
The weirdest thing is, after got save from this place, joker not even have trauma at all. I know his fate is save the world or anything like that but his mental as a human(teenager especially) is already godlike
my guy was filled with undertale dermination or something to go through all that
in the hideout in december, you can see joker rubbing his head
And there was that scene of morgana noting that joker’s hand was trembling when he signed his name to watch unlimited dvds or something for a year
Also after ren comes back home from the interrogation, he stops spinning his phone in the hideout which he always did when he was sitting. Maybe this is stretching it but in the hideout, the PTs leave him the entire seat to give him some space and all of them are somewhat facing him or turn their heads toward him like they’re checking in on him. Also in strikers, maybe I imagined it but I think a few of the PTs stepped in front of Ren when they found out zenkichi was a cop
I'd still say that Joker lost his trust in the police, but at least in Strikers gained at least a little of it back while being in contact with Zenkichi.
This game is chock full of dark stuff. The beginning is definitely a major part but failing to meet the deadlines is definitely up there as well.
For those who don't know, if you fail to steal your targets heart within the deadline, you don't just game over. You get a cutscene on what happens to the PTs and some of them are very dark. I think Kaneshiros is considered the worst but I might be wrong. At the very least, it is definitely one of the top ones. Thing is, very few people have actually seen any of them since you are given plenty of time.
Sae: sees torture instruments...
Sae: I can't stop them...
Joker: I want a lawyer!
Sae: I'm the lawyer...
Joker: ... AHHHHH F.
Phoenix Wright: “OBJECTION!”
Saw: “Overruled! Now get the hell out of here! I’m the only lawyer involved here!”

*saul goodman music plays*
"I need a lawyer..."
"I AM A LAWYEEEEEEEER!"
Wait, did I just pick up a Blu-Ray of Licence to Kill or P5R
Poor Joker
They probably felt it was too dark, so they changed it to just be the drugging and beatings.
You know what
Akechi might have had a point
We know Shadow's death reflect back to the real self
But what about, hmm, torture?
Is this why they put a therapist in the game?
And being a solid makoto shipper all I can think is.
Sae: “…and I can’t stop them.”
Joker: “well you’re no invited to our wedding.”
Once they break out the speculum, I'm talking.
I started my first play through ever when it dropped on Game Pass. Tell me why I missed a deadline and after seeing what happened I questioned how it can get any darker than that.
If you miss the deadline for doing the third palace a certain member of the Phantom Thieves is forced to turn to prostitution and drug trafficking. Just a fun fact for you :)
Joker is a science experimente now..ok
It was already implied before, but damn seeing it all right there is kinda scary
I still see the cart with all the tools in the corner. So all that stuff did happen… jeez
reminds me of the days when the restore content mods happened in Kotor 1+2 yrs ago. Lots of things were cut late in development but were added back in by fans. Something like that, man I loved Kotor
The game looks so clean on pc
That... Goddamnit..! Ren just can't catch a break can he..?! This poor kid... he didn't deserve any of this... I know it's just a game but... no one... real or not... should ever have to go through such horrible things..! I'm glad they cut the torture part out... that would've been to much for any of us to handle...
Sorry I... I just can't find the right words to say...
listen hear me out,,, fan fiction may be fan fiction,, but the p5 fandom has so many fic with the repercussions of the interrogation scene on akira and i love it. i hadn't even thought about it until i wanted to see if there even was p5 fic
Would you give some titles? I'd love to check them out!
they performed a science experiment on our boy
Yeah, I think it is good they changed that. I have grown an odd tolerance for animated gore, but a full torture involving stuff like that is a bit much. That would have just made me feel a bit too uncomfortable during that time of the game. The change doesn't impact much, but I think it was necessary. It didn't hurt anyone, and the only people that would be upset might need a bit of mental help.
Ok what’s on that tray I see three needles a pair of scissors something that looks like a wrench and that’s about it
I see right on the back of the needles are these sticks with hooks on them. Idk what they’re called
This man basically went through the same shit Kaneki did and his hair didn't turn white.
Idk about you but Kaneki went through far far worse
@@lunatrinity5525 Thats why is said basically. Not exactly but close enough.
Kaneki's hair canonically turned white due to his rc-cells (special ghoul cells) having an imbalance or something like that after having to regenerate a lot because of the torture
Well, for what it's worth, at least Sae acknowledged how fucked up these interrogators were to Joker by calling them bastards
I know this is based in Japan, but this could not only lead to a ton of lawsuits, but possibly the entire case dismissed since the evidence was obtained through illegal and inhumane methods (torture and drugs) (Yes that can happen. It's called exclusionary evidence)
I think one interesting bit about how much they fuck up Joker is that it’s a clear indication of the distortion of reality in the game. A bunch of grown men beating up and abusing an 18 year old, and in the early version outright torturing him, on camera because of murder charges they have no direct evidence of. It’s truly insane. I see why they cut the torture part though. Probably would have been a little too messed up
What about these remasters makes it so much easier to find stuff like this?
Pc version
PC code is easier to disassemble than PS4, wider audience; more people actively searching.
And it could simply be PS4 dataminers who were working on finding cut content for 5 hears happened to find stuff that's just getting posted now
I hope they go a lot darker in 6, I feel like games in general are trying to avoid themes like that recently
I kinda want the opposite and have Persona 6 be more light-hearted overall just like Persona 4 was, albeit with some serious and dark moments
@@unicorntomboy9736I think that’s the case since the main color is green…..I think
I can't belive none of our teammates took us to therapy after this. Like joker was brutly tortured and most likely has ptsd WHY DID NO ONE ASK IF HE WAS OK!?
Talk about the works!
The Grim state of "freedom house index of 96", which would be a Bribery.
Frankly, I’m of the opinion that if they wanted to go there, you either go all the way or you don’t go there at all.
But then it became a Tokyo Ghoul edgyness.
I think the whole DRUGGING him part is the darkest of it all. Torture is torture, no matter what they do
Drugging however? They straight up could have injected something into him and he could have died instantly. That's FAR WORSE in my opinion. I would MUCH RATHER have my ass beaten, my fingernails and toenails ripped off than be stuck with a drugged needle. Physical wounds heal quickly
Emotional wounds from nearly being mind-broken by a drug? Yeah, not so much.
I don't think you have been tortured before. If you had I feel like you would be singing a different tune.
Did you just say you'd rather be brutalh tortured than die instantly? Cmon now 💀💀
@@vinnieex someone's a masochist
@C I Even masochistes have safe words. Not having that control makes things infinitely more terrifying. If you ask why I know this, no, I am not a masochist, I just know some.
Idk man, it just looks like operating tools. I don't think they'd try cutting him open and risk suddenly losing him to histamine shock.
"Persona 5 was supposed to be alot darker" I think Persona 3 already did.
Makoto’s genius plan has Joker being tortured… and people see the phantom thieves as the good guys 💀
Idk what you mean. Being tortured and almost killed was the only way to beat Akechi! It's not like he was at Jokers house and they could've just jumped him anytime they wanted to!
Oh wait yeah they could...
I feel like that thing was kinda like Ryuji's idea but everyone rejected him as there's no fun in that
A far less stupid plan would have been to drug Akechi's coffee and throw him in Madarame's abandoned atelier, while Futaba completely strip mined his phone and laptop.
Actually I bet they could have deep faked Akechi answering his phone using Futaba's tech genius and numerous clips of the Detective Prince talking.
Whoah great reading comprehension guys.
They needed to fake Joker's death because of Shido's organization tracking the Phantom Thieves. They had no info about hoe big Shido's group was or if there are any Persona users besides Akechi.
@@Anrgystudio Ah yes. In order to find out how big Shido's orginization is we must kill Joker. This is the most logical course of action, as there is no other way to complete that task...
I wonder what happen if a detective end up accidentally killing the arrested
There's something I don't understand why were those A hole cops/detectives roughing up joker to such an extent? Did they have a vendetta against joker or did they do it just for kicks? What reason did they have to go so far?
He caused unrest and terrorism against the country, was the leader and suspected instigator of all mental breakdowns the past 2-3 years, possession of weapons, manslaughter, and was caught targeting a top prosecutor all whilst being on probation for assaulting a woman.
Even though several of these were falsified acts/were pinned on him by someone else that's what these people believed he did
I like to think it's just them having some sickening power trip by beating the shit out of a teenager. Wish we could've changed their hearts as like mementos requests or something.
Sadly that's how it goes in Japan. Once you're arrested you're done. They can even hold you for a month without proof just to try and get a confession out of you.
SpongeBob roller coaster meme
Honestly I think I prefer the early version of this scene it makes you telling Sae the truth seem more vital because if not it seems like Ren will be tortured to death or be in such bad condition even if he does manage to get out he won't be able to help his friends as the Leader of the Phantom Thiefs anymore.
How’d you get access to all this unused cutscenes and stuff? Is it all released somewhere or you have to go into the game data?
Littery just do the calling card and finally able to used makoto!!!
I'm trying to find a video I remember that showed unused Sae dialog for selecting a difficulty. Can someone help me find it?
Anyone knows where to find the art at the end of the video?
Holy shit
If it was any darker it would just be a horror game
The best game ever
just atlus being nice to minors as always
The mere thought of someone using advanced interrogation techniques (A.K.A *torture* ) on an teenager is both shocking and horrifying. Who is Japan’s Prime Minister to let the police torture teens??
Why would the camera not be used as evidence of brutality?
They can delete the video footage. It's not legal but it can, and has, been done IRL in various countries.
@@TheBronyBraeburn Including if Akechi actually shot the Protagonist in the bad ending?
@@TMX1138 Possibly? Akechi's connected to the police force, they might protect him. I can't speak for Japan as I live in the US, but US police officers have killed suspects on video in situations that did not require such extreme measures, and often those officers either got away with it entirely or faced minor consequences.
those are surgical tools not torturing tools. did they think the mc was an alien? what were they doing with surgical tools?

@@Feasco Ik, it was supposed to be a joke ._. Bruh
I mean considering Ren nearly overdoses on Truth Serum and is nearly beaten to death, I'd argue Persona 5 is already pretty dark. This is almost like a "red room" where you can pay people to be tortured on the dark web. (if I remember right) WAAAY too dark and borderline rated A territory tbh
I felt like persona 5 starts off really well with the dark atmosphere and tone, then kinda pisses it away a third of the way into the game.
Gotta be honest here... The more you show us new cut contents, the more salty I get... I really can't get over why they cut out all those things considering most of them look basically finished, with all the cut content there's almost enough material for another semester😂
I played P5 and honestly i don't really enjoyed it coz P5 is so much darker than P4. and that suicide scene of Shiho, it disturbed me very much, coz i have a friend that did suicide twice, but she got rescued twice, thank God. That friend of mine, she got depression and she find it hard to socialize in society.
So when i first played P5, i almost want to stop playing it but at the same time i also curious with that Kamoshida Ending, that Kamoshida is really pissed me off....
I still prefer P4 the most. I mean P5 is not bad, but maybe it just not my cup of tea...
Just my opinion though.....
Wouldn't the detectives torturing Ren like that count as Child Abuse?
