Just purchased the exact same one. Still in the box, box open tho, Was also wondering about the oil in the bottom part near the prop, if I figure it out I ll update. I did get an English manual from Rato web site, but it’s only motor no additional info on lower unit. GJ thanks
Yeah I have one more trip before I have to change the lower unit oil. Once I get that trip done the lower unit oil will be change and I’ll film so you can see how I’m going to do it
@Panchothings Hello! Thanks for the review. I'm in the middle of building out a tiny boat, and am looking for a good little engine. It's been a few months now, are things still good on it? Still liking it? Thanks in advance!
You may need to put oil in the prop case housing where the prop is there might be a little oil oil cap on the prop housing you can drain and fill it with that
Hi, thanks for the video. I ordered what appears to be the same thing off of a seller on aliexpress with coupon on sale for $251...couldnt pass it up...Figured it if it was a piece of crap I wasnt out much and could likely recover my cost without too much effort. Supposed to be here in two days. Looking forward to trying it. I wanted something the kids could take out and play around with and to take fishing. You are the only one that I saw that has reviewed it. Will be curious of your findings and any mods you make to it. Putting it on a takacat 340. Hoping for more speed though, but for less than half the price of a 40 year old heavy water cooled 9.9 for my use this I thought would be the best option. Not sure my thoughts on the prop and would like to find out if there is anything that i can slap on that to try to crack a faster top end. I did finally find a replacement prop on amazon. Be sure to update us if you make any changes to this!
That’s awesome. I’m interested on that Amazon prop you fund. Is it nylon as well? I did look at replacement part just in case and it’s kinda hard to fine some stuff for it

hello, i just bought the same motor. glad to see someone did a video on it. Question for you is there only one plug for gear oil? or if possible maybe a video on gear oil installation. enjoyed your video thanks again
Hello there. Mine only have one but the manual mention 2. How about yours? Only one plug for gear oil as well? I got a oil pump kit. As soon as the time come I will film it and show the process. That’s the one thing I haven’t done yet.
@@Panchothings yes only had one plug, i just checked it and it does have oil so i am thinking i am good until my first service. thanks for the quick reply.
@@GizGarciaJr that thing is placed tight. I literally had to use a plastic mallet to put it in place. That plate is perfect for it. If I have to remove it I’ll have to use the mallet again. Hello there. Actually the HP is good for suck a small engine. Mine is 14ft and moves without a problem. What size is your boat? Yeah for the first motor I wanted something straight forward. Water cooled is little more complex, I just need something simple
Hello Pancho. Thank you for the insight into this motor. I've been looking at them for a while now and you answered what questions I had. Any regrets? How is it now that you've been using it for a month? You did not show it but did you have to put oil in the lower end? Subscribed and time to check out your shorts now :)
So far it’s doing great. Runs well, start at the first or second pull from cold with the little choke. Warms up super fast. The only thing I notice is that after few uses the idle have some torque in it. I have adjusted the intake and cable but it seems that once everything gets sited stays like that, perfect for trolling fishing in my opinion. So, on the manual give you some what a breaking period of sorts. It’s kinda weird because the language can be confusing do to translation. So, it says that the first motor oil change should happen at the 10 hour mark. That’s the one I posted. As far as the gear oil it says that needs to be change at the 20 hours mark. Now, the only thing is that in the manual shows a draining valve for the lower part of the gear assembly, also shows a filling valve on the top side of the gear assembly. Mine only have the draining valve. The manual seems to be created for 2 different models but both have the 2 valves in the diagrams??? So, I got a draining and filling kit with a manual pump, so when the time comes I’ll fill it back up from the draining valve and see how that goes. That’s the only complain I have so far. The handle with the throttle could be little better but it does come with an extra throttle cable and selector assembly. The cable is literally the same used for bicycle breaks so relatively inexpensive. On and all it’s a simple little engine to get you from point a to b. It does put a 14 ft Jonboat with 2 adults and gear on plane. Not to bad for the price. What kind of watercraft you want to put the engine on?
@@Panchothings Thank you for taking the time to write this out for me. It's sure to save me time since I ordered one last night. ;) I have an old 1973 Lund S-16 that I picked up. I'm currently running a 56 lb thrust trolling motor on it which can get me up to about 4mph. I'm not in a hurry but 4mph sure does make a long day for some of the lakes up here. I was considering a larger trolling motor or 48v electric. When you add in the weight of all those batteries and cost, this seems like a better option. How did you Drain the oil?
There is a drain plug on the bottom. Look in my short videos I did filmed the first oil change. 👍🏼
