      Congrats, you've been pinned!
      Nonetheless, we hear this all the time - I suggest you get off the couch & go experience the bush, or go book a guiding trip at a local lodge & spend 12 hours with a Guide... You will see some wild shit my friend.
      But I know you won't so for now, I will just say thank you for your disbelief, I hope someday you experience some of the same magic we have in the bush that God created.
      God Bless my friend

      Yup. Old guy Franklin baiting them for years habituating them to bait sites and people to the point that the wolves around there bait sites are half tame ffs. The younger guy is a bit but a putz in the bush, more or less a city boy gone wild lol ! 😂

      Thank you kind sir, I appreciate the love!
      I love when he brings his paddle out for a Wolf track, but his guests are the ones in front of the track holding the rifle so the paddle is just "backup" at that point LOL
      But when baiting, he has learned a rifle is the better protection, especially if something like a Wolverine is on the bait... no one wants to mess with a Wolverine... Even the Wolves lol

      You had Wolves in your backyard didn't you!?!?!
      I hear you... I always have a multi-tool on me & a buck knife on my hip anywhere I go.
      Coyotes don't scare me, but Wolves are another story... I remember walking a trail down in the Ear Falls area & as it got dark I put my rifle into the soft case & began to make the 2KM hike back. As I got half way a pack of Wolves lit up howling to the West of me & as I got closer to my truck I could hear them shuffling through the thick bush behind me & then to the East.
      Were they stalking me thinking I was a deer? Or were they just curious... I'm not sure... But when the hair stands up on your arms, that is your signal to start picking up your walking pace LOL
      Franklin & I still want to fish Brookies in Ignace at some point... when we set a date I will shoot you a text! We will be doing a sight fishing hole too!

    • @differentfins
      @differentfins 8 місяців тому +1

      @NorthCanadaFishing yeah I've chased them out of my yard in broad daylight. The wolves are more dominant and will kill coyotes on sight but the coyotes are more brave (or stupid) they attack pets and people more often. They aren't as bad ass as wolves but more likely to do something.

    • @differentfins
      @differentfins 8 місяців тому +1

      @NorthCanadaFishing ice is getting pretty thick now for sight fishing. December is best for that. This might be a short winter, we can do first ice in Ignace 100%

    Wow, glad Franklin had his .22 with him that day. I love the idea of the carpet in the blind. Nit just for the warmth factor but it keeps the noise down. Boots on wood make a lot of noise if you're changing positions to shoot with either a rifle or camera. The carpet would eliminate that shuffling noise. Very smart idea. Thanks for bringing us along. Beautiful looking wolves.

      I hear you brother... He has not had many instances like that with the Wolves in the last 30-35 years but has had lots of issues with Black Bears. Normally a good shot into the ground spooks a Bear off though.

    Great video, you can tell Franklin loves and understands wolves, he is a true pack member, I hope you will learn a lot from him, It would be nice if you could find the time to do a few videos of what wolves go through in their daily lives just to survive, love the new camera blind, I spent most of my life in the bush that is the first time i heard of a wolf coming up on a person loved that story, pump Franklin for more stories would love to spend a few days with that old dog, anyway great video looking forward to many more thanks take care

      Its funny you mention getting Franklin to tell stories - He said he would love to sit on his dock & tell stories with me in front of the camera.
      Come Spring, I want to do that with him - The bonus of doing it on his dock is the Wolves might pop out behind us to say hello & have a bite to eat off in the distance LOL
      Yearly Wolf attacks are as low as 1-3 per year... It is very rare... But with the recent new pack trying to push out the resident pack, I think this Wolf was sick & tired of being bullied around & was most likely very hungry... Just bad timing I think

    Years ago a friend of mine was moose hunting alone in the Northwest Territories, Canada, He was just standing there on the shore of a dry lake bed scanning for moose, Suddenly he felt something tugging on his pant leg, when he looked around it was a wolf, It quickly ran off when he startled it. It was clearly hungry to be that bold, He didn’t shoot the wolf.

You are a much better Moose hunter than I am, LOL I've never had a Moose in my reticles before, but have enjoyed watching them while they are out of season mid-summer when its hot & they come cool off (And get away from the bears & bugs) in the lake!
      Question for you... How does Caribou taste? I've heard its overrated... But then again people who say that also dislike Venison so maybe they just cannot stand any type of "game" tasting meat?

    You mentioned buck paws, I peed in one once and the next time by it was literally excavated, 5" deep and dirt 30 feet away from it. That buck was some upset. The other guys in our camp did not believe me until one of them tries it and the same thing happened to them. I don't think it works as well for coyotes. I found a pee post and peed on it and the coyotes never came back all winter.

    • @PatterningNature
      @PatterningNature  8 місяців тому

      Yup! The proof is in the pudding my friend...
      Human scent (Body odour, detergents, laundry soaps, etc) are the key killer in any hunt no matter what you are going after (Even Raccoons or Red Squirrels).
      But when it comes to urine, there is a territorial instinct built into that ammonia thats in all human & animal urine that triggers something fierce & pisses them off LOL
      Heck... when it comes to Deer hunting, go chug a gallon of water before you head out to your Deer area & start creating false scrapes - I guarentee the Bucks in your area will do the same thing you described when they come across your urine & foot scrape.
      I'm a weirdo & my brain is always givin'r 24/7... I've thought about pee'ing on the bottom of my boots & on the toes so when you walk through a heavy Deer or Predator area they get a tad confused about the scent trail between the urine & human scent... But honestly... I don't want to start pee'ing on my hunting gear LOLLLL!!!!!!

      These folks are in disbelief because while living a normal everyday life, going to work, commuting in a nice warm car, sitting on your couch, etc... does not provide you with any insight into what we see in the bush.
