Love this discussion! I had always thought of “uniforms” as what I would wear to go get groceries but I now understand that it can be so many more activities. Within the past 5 months I have had 2 major surgeries and actually needed a “surgery day” uniform of joggers or leggings with a tee or zip up hoodie. Realizing I need a longer hoodie for my pear shape ;-) and slip on shoes are also helpful. Having a travel outfit basically can easily be used in an emergency hospital situation.
Thanks for this video chat. Gail named my outfit uniform - jeans, top, and cardigan. But I prefer straight leg colored jeans - burgundy, a dull olive, tan or parchment, navy, etc. I have recently added some corduroy jeans and a couple pair of wide legs. (I usually reserve blue denim for very casual activities or days at home.) I like print tops - stripes, abstract, or leafy designs without high contrast and one of the colors in the print that matches the jeans. Then I let those two items suggest which cardigan to add - sometimes the same hue as the jeans or lighter or darker, and sometimes another color from the print. But I mix it up sometimes with a solid top and a print jacket, or a blazer instead of a cardigan. I try for the mood of the print to suggest the mood of the jewelry I add. I generally feel pretty confident about my choices. And now that I follow Your Color Style, I am paying more attention to adding better colors for me and eventually will wear fewer of the colors I like but that may not be my best.
I so get what you ladies are talking about when you say "uniforms" in wearing outfits. You pick styles and colors of clothing and interchange or tweak them as much as you want to create your own personal look.
So the uniform is what we would grab to throw on if the house was on fire or we had to run to get a child left at school or some other urgent situation. But then expanded for other activities by using elevated pieces and varying colors and patterns. Is this different from a signature style?
