Chicago Marathon Spectators' Guide

- While this will be my third time running the Chicago Marathon, I've been on the other side as a spectator. I've also lived in Chicago for about 15 years now. Here are my spectators' tips for where to see your runners, how to see them as often as possible, and how to get around the town with all the road closures of this giant event.
Thanks for watching! Leave a comment to let me know you stopped by!

The charity runner for this week is Landon Thiesen who is running the Chicago Marathon and raising money for American Cancer Society. I've donated $70 and hope you'll consider joining me with even just $1.

I’m a native Chicagoan and first time marathon runner this year. This is the most clutch video ever. Sending this to all my friends and family to stalk me. Love your videos. They’ve helped calm me down before he race. Thank you!
That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Good luck sunday!
Wow, this is fantastic. Thank you for doing this vid, the supporter role is going to be a breeze in 2024 now.
Have fun!
Wish I'd discovered you back in 2018 when I ran Chicago, fell in love with the city and haven't been able to get back into the marathon, but hopefully in 2021. Your videos of the city have only stoked my desire to go back (I'm in Boston), and it's definitely helped motivate me to keep running thru these crazy pandemic times, so thank you for helping fuel the fire that helps motivate me to get back out there!
Can’t wait to welcome the world back to Chicago
Fond memories from the 2019 Kofuzi shakeout run. Back in town but the 2019 fitness is a distant memory. CHI Marathon should pay you money for this one. The best spectator guide ever. Have fun on Sunday.
thanks so much!
These are awesome tips! thank you
i hope it's helpful!
18th st pink line is just a few blocks west of loomis and 18th if people want to catch their runner there and then ride the pink back into the loop for the finish. would probably have to forfeit chinatown and michigan ave unless the runner is on the slower side.
Thanks for the tip!
The “clutchness” of this video is all the way up there! From best places to watch to how to get around, this could easily be titled a “UA-camr’s guide to the Chicago Marathon” !
I hope it’s helpful!
Will watch Chicago marathon tomorrow. Never thought, once again, Kofuzi delivers! Way to go!
Have fun chasing the runners!
@@kofuzi yes I was! So much fun to witness the new world record!
This is so helpful! Going to pass this on to my cheer squad! Thanks very much for the tips - especially the river walk option 👌👌
The ads for your channel have been Eluid's INEOS 1:59 challange. Must be a good omen.
bodes well.
This is the type of video that makes UA-cam great.
Wow! Thanks!
Thank you very much for the help!
I’m glad it could be helpful!
Best race event on my list to date. Have a fun and strong run on Sunday!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this! Sharing with my husband. It’s his first time in Chicago (and with a toddler in tow 😳) so this helps!!
all the red line stations that i mentioned have elevators, as well, in case you are bringing a stroller
I’ve become a fan of your channel. Interesting and variety of content.
Thanks for watching!
So good. I showed MY WIFE. You do good work!
Great tips.Hopefully one day I will either run or watch.
Do it!
What a great video for spectators! #psa. 😀
I hope it helps!
Mike, do you think its possible to get from Mile 3 to Mile 14 Adams St, then we can also see our athlete at Mile 17, Jackson Blvd & Halstead St? Thanks!
Great video! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
This helps very much , will be in the Chi from Fri thru Mon , this gives a good plan of attack.
Awesome!
Super helpful, thanks!
hope you enjoy the race!
Thank you so much for this! I am planning on coming down just to soak in the atmosphere and cheer everyone on and was wondering what the best viewing options would be. Gave me lots of food for thought! Best of luck to you in the race. I also am going to try to make your shakeout run on Saturday morning if that still is happening. Do you know what time approx. that you will be starting?
7am start at the chess pavilion.
Yep, making my wife watch this one
i hope it helps!
@@kofuzi It does especially sense we are staying at the Hyatt Regency off of Wacker
What camera gear do you use when you film yourself running? For example with the next% first run video. Very cool
links in description.
but usually a gopro and/or a 360 camera
Can you use gopro with the invisible selfie stick?
if the gopro is a fusion or max
My girlfriend says thank you! Any things you recommend I check out this weekend? So far I got the Navy Pier, Millennium Park, the Aquarium, the Magnificent Mile, the skydeck and the architecture cruise on my list. Heading over Friday morning from Toronto!
that's a pretty full list!
deep dish pizza (not my favorite, but a tourist must-try) is something i might add.
Take the Pink line in the Loop, westbound, to Pilsen. Get off at 18th street. Cheer the runners. Have a taco (or three)! Take the same train back to the Loop.
Tacos are good in that area
I’ll be tracking you from Germany 🇩🇪 🤟 Good luck KO
Thanks for your support!
kofuzi Always dude 🤟
Make sure you don’t spectate at lower Columbus and Wacker. Like if you know what I’m talking about.
Any idea if you can run along side a friend that is running the Chicago marathon for about half a mile or so?
depends on where and how you do it
