As always, thanks for the wonderful content Mercedes 💚 I loved Daniel Mason’s ‘North Wood’ on audio - a brilliant cast of narrators who did such a wonderful job with the descriptive text.

Thank you for this video! I'm so excited to listen to these. Ohio, I have a physical copy, so I will definitely get it on audio as well.
I listened to Know My Name and Inferno as well. I agree with your description of them. I cried, listening to both.

Oh I always love an audiobook recommendations video 🤩
Here are some I really enjoyed 😍
Hannah Kent: The Good People (read by the Irish actress Caroline Lennon, so authentic, made me instantly believe in the folklore, beliefs and rites of the people in rural areas in the 1820s)
James Joyce: Dubliners (highly recommend the audiobook 'performed by 15 different actors originating from Ireland', amazing voices)
Jay Kristoff, Amie Kaufman: The Illuminae Files (read this book because of the full cast and sound effects of the audiobook, it's like listening to a movie)
Joanna Cannon: A tidy ending (oh how I loved Linda's character, the narrator gave this murder mystery a darkly funny undertone that kept me guessing til the end)
Max Porter: Lanny (amazing narrators, I especially liked Lanny's Mum and all the different voices when Papa Toothwort was roaming the woods)
Morowa Yejidé: Creatures of passage (read by the author, took me a minute to get into her way of reading it, but then I could not stop listening)
Nell Stevens: Briefly, a delicious life (the narrator's voice was so sensual, you could literally feel her appreciation of food, love, music, family...)
Rebecca Netley: The Whistling (read by Scotland born Lois Chimimba, she effortlessly managed to give Elspeth, the bleak island and the family home a very distinct voice and atmosphere)
Sarah Moss: Night waking / The Fell (loved these two immensely, 7-year-old Raph and toddler Moth from Night waking were a joy to listen to as well as the descriptions of the Hebrides)
Sidik Fofana: Stories from the tenants downstairs (wonderful set of voices for a wide range of characters, made me enjoy the book even more because of the authenticity)
Stephen King: The Girl who loved Tom Gordon (read by the late Anne Heche, she gave 9-year-old Trisha an amazing believable voice and depth to an already greatly written character)

I've read (physically) The Good People (also loved all the folklore), Lanny and the Sarah Moss books but haven't read any of the others so thanks for the recs. So many of them sound brilliant! I have A Tidy Ending on audio so I need to get to it asap.

I’m just loving audiobooks this year, this video was perfect! Excited to give some of these a go!
My most recent book I lived on audio was us three by Ruth Jones!
Brilliantly narrated by the author !

What a brilliant video and a brilliant list of suggestions! I, too, loved Mr Loverman but discovered the version I listened to was narrated by someone else (Robin Miles & Ron Butler). I loved the story and their narration so much that I've listened to it multiple times. Looking forward to listening to several others you mentioned that I've not yet gotten to.

I agree with you about Ohio. I remember listening to it in 2016/17? When the book was first released. Deluge has so many audio narrators because there are so many characters. I just love books with a full voice cast.
Recent audiobooks that I think were brilliant
    The Bandit Queens
    North Woods
    How To Build A Boat
    Tom Lake
    Falling Animals
The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store
    The Bee Sting
    All The Little Bird Hearts
    The Rachel Incident
    Little Monsters

What a wonderful selection of books!, some of my favourites here and now I want to enjoy them on audio, and discover the non fiction on your list.
I'm really enjoying Tom Lake, read by Meryl Streep, really wonderful. such a pleasure to listen to. I also really enjoyed listening to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn read by Elijah Wood, in January- such a joy to listen to -he made a perfect Huc.

I tend to have trouble focusing on audiobooks, especially when it comes to fantasy novels that are heavy on made-up names and terminology. However, Steven Pacey's performance of Joe Abercrombie's First Law series was really captivating. I remember you mentioning in your fantasy TBR video some time last year that you considered giving the series a go, so I'd recommend doing so via audio, it really added to my enjoyment of the series.

Thank you for this great list! I am not a big audiobook listener, I find it extremely hard to pay attention when being read to, especially when it comes to fiction. But I realized I really love listening to memoirs narrated by the author. Know My Name was amazing, and Sitting Pretty as well, loved both of these authors’ voices and narration. I agree with you on How we fight for our lives, even though it was so lyrical I found it hard to follow in its entirety in audio form, and that is why I also read a physical copy, a beautiful beautiful book. You definitely had me intrigued to try fiction on audio again, most of the books you mentioned are on my tbr ❤

I feel like this was just the video I needed 😂 I've added so many of these to my tbr. Absolutely loved American Marriage on audio so I'll definitely be heading to Silver Sparrow.
A few memoirs that I've enjoyed on audio in the past few months: The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer, Maybe I Don't Belong Here by David Harewood, Taste by Stanley Tucci. I've also just started How to Say Babylon by Safiya Sinclair from the women's prize for non-fiction long list and I'm loving that so far!
A few other non-fiction recs: Girls Can Kiss Now by Jill Gutowitz, Cultish by Amanda Montell and Sex Robots and Vegan Meat by Jenny Kleeman.

Can you imagine- I have never experienced an audiobook 🤔 and I’m not sure why, you have me wondering? The
Offing is a fabulous book, I loved it and have read a few of his others since. Definitely some titles for the TBR today. Thanks for a very good video. The longer the better for me.

I tried a sample of The Rabbit Hutch on audio and I think I will end up reading it via audio! I want to reread Ohio this summer and may do so via audio. Thank you for the recs.
I love when authors narrate their own books! I listened to Little Scratch by Rebecca Watson which she narrates herself (though there is a version out there narrated by other people) and I remember listening to it in one sitting and loving it. It has a very interesting writing style and I’m not sure if I would have loved it as much if not for the audio experience. I read the memoir Constellations by Sinéad Gleeson last year on audio (also narrated by the author) and it was one of my favorite reads of the year. I think you would particularly enjoy that one.

Thankyou for a fab podcast and some great recommendations for audio books. I love listening to audiobooks and have never seen a podcast recommending them before! I also loved Small Island and The Rabbit Hutch.
    I would suggest: (fiction)....
Still Life by Sarah Winman narrated by author
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, narrated by Julie Teal.
    (Non fiction).....
Mudlarking by Lara Maiklem narrated by author.
The Salt Path by Raynor Winn narrated by author.
Why did you Stay? By Rebecca Humphries narrated by author.
    Thanks again.

Goodness I loved this video!! I'm so excited to check so many of these our! I've got 2 nonfiction recommendations: While You Were Out by Meg Kissinger, which is a deeply compassionate memoir of mental health and family, and The White Mosque by Sofia Samatar which is the most unique memoir in essays that I may have ever read. It follows Samatar as she travels to Uzbekistan following the history of Mennonites who moved there in the 19th century. Anyways, thank you again and happy listening!!!

I love an audio book! And a lot of the same ones you've mentioned Ohio (from your recommendation), Daughters of the Forest and Mr Loverman. Although audio doesn't work for all books, some books are enriched by a skilled narrator. I have been known to search for books by narrator alone; two favourites are Ben Onwukwe and Aoife McMahon - I could listen to them all day. Someone else has mentioned Stephen Pacey and the Joe Abercrombie books - I have to agree and love them too :)

Happy New Year of the Dragon 🐉! Great list. I also enjoy memoirs read by the author - or in general really!
Regarding more on “welfare queens” (😑😩), not an audiobook, but the You’re Wrong About podcast had an interesting episode on this about 18 months’ (? maybe 😅) ago. Worth a listen. 🎧 😊

So many great recommendations! I finished Oh Sister by Jodie Chapman on audio this week and adored the narration! Young Mungo will also forever remain a favourite on audio. I'm hoping to enjoy How Beautiful We Were by Imbolo Mbue on audio this month, since I really enjoyed his earlier novel Behold the Dreamers as an audiobook!

Thank you so much for this list!
I adore audiobooks and now, when my eyesight struggles because of work I much prefer listening to books.
From recent favourites of mine: The Daevabad trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty (The City of Brass being the first). I absolutely adored Soneela Nankani's narration 💛
Tin Man by Sarah Winman is amazing on audio too. Convenience store Woman by Sayaka Murata.
And for nonfiction - I really enjoyed Revolutionary Mothering by various authors. Made me cry couple of times.
I'll make my way through your list and write back my thoughts.❤️
    Happy reading!

Miss Benson’s Beetle by Rachel Joyce - narrated by Juliet Stevenson. She made the part of Enid Pretty come alive for me. It’s a five ⭐️ wonderful novel to read, but the audio heightens it to utter perfection level. It amazes me when my friends dismiss audio books because they claim they can’t concentrate.

Devotion by Hannah Kent is an amazing audiobook. I can't remember the name of the narrator but she has such a soothing voice and captures all the emotion of the book so well. I started listening to it while I was in the gym and knew after about 10 minutes that it was one I would just have to sit somewhere quiet and comfortable and let it wash over me.
