Absolutely love a kid with the heart passion and desire to outwork everyone. This boy is a beast and I would love to have him behind my dish any day. With all that being said the first and last drills I would not endorse. In drill one you are creating aerobic stamina but at the cost of muscle memory and twitch degradation. Look at how many times his glove comes upward instead of staying on the ground. Look at how many times he lacks a concave posture. Fast movements like that do not create great form. And when shit hits the fan, and it always does, his memory will return to this drill and he'll have poor form when you need him to be a his best. The last drill has a similar negative impact. There's no drive in his legs creating better impact angles on blocking balls. So when you need that big block in the bottom of the ninth instead of driving forward he's going to go straight downward and the ball is going to eat him up. The same muscle toning, strengthening, and conditioning can be achieved with other drills that will not reinforce negative form and posture as a catcher. Simply my humble opinion take it for what it's worth.
Thank you very much for the comment. Shawn works really hard and loves the game and the position. I will talk to Coach Lebo and see what he says about your comment. We are always learning. Like his catching coach told Shawn and me " If you think you know everything about the position and the game, you shouldn't be playing, you are always learning" Just a good quote for everyone out there:)
He has great form. Incredibly strong legs. Wow!!!! Proud of you buddy.
He is working his tail off. I will make sure to tell him as well.
