Reminds me of the Greek Proverb, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they will never sit in”, it’s a lovely thing to plant trees which will stand long after we are gone...
A squirrel planted an acorn in one of my flower gardens. I left it because when the tiny oak tree first leafed out, the two single leaves were each as big as my hand. It made me laugh. Now after 5 years it stands nearly 3 feel tall. I will eventually move my flower garden to a different place and allow this beautiful tree shade me and my home.
My favorite thing to do is knit. When its getting cold outside, my home is warm and cozy and I have quiet places where I can sit. The rhythmic motions of my hands, the soft yarn, and creating something warm to wear brings me great joy. I also love to spin yarn on my 200 year old spinning wheel. It is so amazing. Thank you for your videos. Xo From Canada
Oh I love knitting too! One of my best friends and I meet twice a month to knit, chat and drink coffee. It’s so relaxing and so much fun to meet my friend.
I am not a skilled knitter yet, but I love spinning and find it one of my most centering activities to handle the lovely fibers and turn them into beautiful yarns!
As I watch this video I'm in a warm bath with some rosemary sprigs from the garden with a homemade clay face mask on winding down ready for bed where some genmaicha tea leftover from an early pot is waiting for me. I have the last of this springs sweet peas next to my bed so I can go to sleep and awaken tomorrow to that lovely scent.
My self care are getting some fresh air,Spending time with my own self,my family and talking with my birds,Drinking lots of water,Slow living,Drink tea in the evening and some other things 🌿😊🧡🎄
Thank you for another lovely, relaxing video. My self care is waking up before my family to have time to do yoga and give myself a nice face massage when I am done. I listen to calming music and that extra time just for me really gets me through the day.
Hello my friend..lovely as always. This is a very true story. I had insomnia all summer. ( more cancer..) Tried everything. Then I had an idea. Instead of listening to music, I went to your videos and hit auto play, so they play and play , no interruption. Besides advice , your voice is very melodic and calm and gentle.. you help me relax. I dont even focus on words.. I just be. Been meaning to tell you that. I bet you have a beautiful singing voice too. Thank you.💗💗💗
It never occurred to me to plant oak trees (or other native trees to my area!) Amazing. I love that it's 'gardening' that can be done indoors over the colder months as well.
I am getting ready to start planting. I live in an apartment with a small balcony so I am limited with space. But I really fell I need to do this because I want to learn and become more sustainable. Your videos are both, calming and motivational. Thank you🧡🤗
When the snow comes, it’s a reminder for me to slow down. I can’t walk fast or I’ll slip. So I’m forced to slow down. I love the idea of giving myself a hand massage and your ritual for doing it is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your beauty,.
One of the most basic things I think of as self care is making sure I carve out time in my weekend for “resetting”. Things like cleaning my house, planning our menu, shopping for good food, doing our laundry - these seem like mundane things. But they all need to be done and done well in order for me to feel prepared for the week. And if I do this in an unhurried way, I set myself up for a more organized, less hurried, and more healthy week. Which, in turn, helps my mental and emotional state. That is why I think of such things as self care.
Theresa Beach I love your approach! Doing those things *well* so that you feel prepared for the week ❤️ I was just learning about how Okinawans do their mundane tasks; they are in their flow and try to do each task better each time. These little mindset shifts are wonderful reminders that it’s not always what you do but how you do it, thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
What inspiration! Yes, just slow down and savor the moment. A quiet and cozy moment to sit down, put my feet up and enjoy a warm cup of tea. Better yet, in front of a crackling fire with the wind a howling and the rain pouring down. Top it off with a furry little cat curled up at my feet and it' pure perfection!
Snuggling up on the sofa with a book, a coffee and a warm blanket over my knees is my self care, pure indulgence and it doesn’t cost a penny (thanks to my local library). Thank you for your lovely videos Niamh 💛
Niamh, I just want to thank you for all of your wonderful and inspiring videos! Your content is so relaxing, and your ideas and philosophies on life are refreshing to the soul 💛 You've also inspired me to set a goal of being zero waste, whereby I shop at bulk stores and buy local fruit and veg. I'm also vegan, so absolutely love your recipe videos! Keep doing what you're doing, lovely! Take care! 😊💛
In Korean, we have a cute saying "todak todak토닥 토닥" which means patting oneself gently for living through a harsh day. Any kind of self-care can be a cute little moment of todak todak I guess : )
I wanted to take a moment to express gratitude for the up building videos you have made. ( I have been watching quite a few over the last week or so) I’m grateful that you take the time to help educate in such a positive manner. Thank you so very much!
I love watching you videos. They bring back to me the importance of taking it slow and finding the beauty life has to offer. I wish we were neighbors! :) Do you have pets? To relax, I like to have a comfy chair, big blanket, a hot tea or coffee, my cat and a good book!
I love listening to your voice! I swear my blood pressure drops about 10 points. Lol. While listening to you, I realized how frantic I am to get things done to celebrate the accomplishment not the journey of doing it. Watching your videos has helped me be more present when I am doing tasks. I love the one (among others) on cleaning Fairyland Cottage. Keep up the lovely work! Thank you.
I love your videos! So calming and inspiring! My biggest self care practice is my early morning time.... A good cup of coffee Diffuser going with favorite essential oil blends Time with Jesus, reading my Bible and writing in my journal. All before my day begins. My evening self care practice a good hot relaxing bath with epsom salt, lavender & eucalyptus and an occasional glass of red wine. But my favorite thing to do is work in my gardens. This is where I find my peace and joy! God Bless you!
I can calm down and do selfcare for me by "working" in my kitchen. Cooking, baking, canning...this is selfcare for me. And YOU and your videos are my weekly highlight and selfcare for me, too.❤❤❤❤
@@FairylandCottage Really? I am a 52 years old mum of two adult kids. I know a lot of simple recipes. I could give you some (vegan) recipes ..... but only if you like😉.
I’m really enjoying your videos! I’ve learned to be slow and mindful in my horse training but I could certainly carry over more of that peace to the rest of my life. Thanks for the inspiration! Bright Blessings 🌺
My self care currently is just drinking a good cup of tea while reading a book on how to conquer fear, after my family has gone down for bed. It is so good to have this time for my own personal development.
I love to relax with a book, a warm blanket and of course my cat laying at my feet. Soups are one of my favourite and easy meals to make on cooler autumn days.
I REALLY appreciate you sharing the BEAUTY of living simple & appreciating Life! Sometimes, I will watch again immediately because it is so soothing & calming. Thank you 😊
I have two activities that always feel like self care. I first enjoy cooking and creating new recipes. It is exciting and relaxing at the same time. The second is also taking care of my hands, and my feet! I agree that our hands do so much for us and giving them some TLC is so rejuvenating. God bless 💕
Thank you Niamh. Recently my legs have begun to ache so much that I've had to pay attention to them.. and put to use the lavender massage oil I have sitting doing nothing... and oh, it's been so lovely to do, just before bedtime, the aroma so nurturing and the massage is giving myself some kindness and care. Your channel is seeping through into my gnarly places and reminding me to be more mindful in my attempts at slow living. Blessings to you.
I absolutely love your channel!! Your calming, nourishing and informative presence is such a gift and I wish I had a friend like you close by. It would be so nice to have the benefit of your knowledge and peacefulness in my daily attempt to slow down. Thank you for bringing a small bit of that nourishment and calmness to those of us who strive to live a more meaningful and satisfying and most importantly a peaceful life ! I know for me your channel brings a much longed for glimpse of what I need and want for my daily life. I look forward to seeing every one of your videos... As a senior citizen your videos have given me a reason to focus on things that I can still do to improve my mood and my physical health as well as given me permission to return to self care and not feel guilty for taking time to slow down and respect myself and the natural world around me. Thank you so much!!
The cold outside and heating the house both tend to dry my hands. This is a nice reminder to care for them. ♡ Autumn is my favorite time of year. The colors here in Michigan are beautiful, and in just a month it will be Advent. 🍁🍂🌾🌱
I enjoy your videos. I also love gardening to peace my mind. I think some of us are frantic, always on the go, in order to keep the mind busy. A good book and a cup of tea helps too. Thank you for your time and inspiration.
Hello, I just found your channel and I am already in love with it! Nature has such great healing powers. It is helping me to get over depression and anxiety. I used to live in a huge city for the last six years and felt like the city was draining my energy. After having a major breakdown at the beginning of the year I moved back to the black forest in Germany and am already so much better now. I love your videos! Thank you for sharing your love for a simple life! 🌲🍁🌲
Wow, well done you for making big changes that impacted your life positively. nature does more for us that anything we could ever buy. Many blessings on your new journey x
I'm in my late 40's now, and for some reason have lost touch with self care rituals over the years. Twenty years ago I was a pro at self care. Makes me wonder when exactly I lost touch with such a crucial ingredient for a content life. Thank you so much for the reminder. 🍁🍵🍁
I love your videos so much! I've been a bit of a silent watcher, but I wanted to tell you how much I've been enjoying your calm words of wisdom. It's very easy to become swept away in the fast pace of life, your videos are reminders that it's alright to slow down and have a moment of peace.
Ah thanks silent watcher... very grateful you messaged and Im glad you love the videos... yes we all need reminders to slow down as the train of the material world goes fast fast fast!
Delightful footage. I do not eat soup, pasta, or sauces. Only eat whole foods in their natural form. Love eating tomatoes but can not stand tomato sauce. For self care I enjoy simple eating, slow living, minimalism and also enjoying and living in the present. Thanks for this charming video.
Love your videos and your message - to live simply, with less, using what you already have, and being grateful! Love the idea of using natural ingredients rather than running out to the drugstore to stock up on whatever they are trying to sell me. I feel so much better using coconut oil, apple cider vinegar and herbs in my grooming products. Better for me and for our planet! Thanks for your sensible and timely message!
I love my 4 seasons here in northern Vermont. But I especially like when the weather is cooler. This means soup season. I have started making different soups to enjoy. Thanks for the comforting video.
This is so soothing to watch and listen to. I love soups. I’ll have to find some herbs to soak my aching hands. Thank you for sharing your own self care moments.
Hi I watch your videos from Japan 🇯🇵✨ Where I live is completely different from your so every time I watch your video, it makes me feel like I’m traveling and living a whole new world with lots of greenery. I love the idea of this video and I truly think that self-care is so important for anyone. Thanks for sharing your very therapeutic and peaceful video 🥰❤️
I’m so glad I found your channel, I find your videos so relaxing and it seems to clear my mind. I stopped watching UA-cam for a long time because I couldn’t take all the consumerism, it’s seemed to be all about buying and accumulating. It started to make me anxious which seems ridiculous when I say it out load, and I can see how easy it would be to get sucked into that whole world. I’m going off now to care for my hands, lovely. 😘
Im so glad you found the channel too... you are so right it is easy to get sucked into the world of buy buy buy.... keeping it simple and remembering to be grateful is key isn't it! hope your hands and all happy now after some tlc...
No garden here so i took care of my indoor plants, deeply cleaned my little home and i'm on my way for a warm and soothing bath (pedi/mani, hair and face mask with good music and a glass of something 🤗) while soup is on the stove
I absolutely loooooove the sounds of you picking those vegetables 😍 I could honestly watch an entire video of you picking & cutting up things from your culinary garden (hint hint) lol I adore your channel, thank you so much for your wonderful videos!
As always I LOVE your voice! And this video! 👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️❤️❤️ I love everything you said & I am going to try and incorporate these ideas into my life 🙂 I have NEVER gave myself a hand massage & you are so right! It’s so easy to take even our hands for granted even though they do so much every day!!! 🙂
Thank you! I have been thinking how much I appreciate your videos for their calming good advice and simplicity. Here in California we have been plagued with fires and dry weather. My hands are screaming for attention and I slather them with and herbal salve but they are so dry. So this video came to me at a perfect time. I will give them a sweet bath treatment. You set a very good example!
What a beautiful and relaxing way to start my Sunday. Well, the weather here in Ohio has finally changed from the 90’s to the 40’s and 50’s it should be. And I think I will try your awesome ritual of soaking my hands in warm water and giving myself a hand massage today. Thank you so much for the wonderful video. Hope you have a nice quiet relaxing week ahead, Niamh!
have a picture, draw the picture no matter how simple the drawing and live happily with what you have and start looking.... took me a year and 6 months before I found this little cottage... further away from the city than we wanted but actually perfect distance!
Happy Sunday Niamh. Although I don't have Calendula I have the other herbs so I will place that in my weekly footbath have a cuppa tea and read a book, followed with a pedicure and moisturizing with my homemade salve. Enjoy your week. And thanks for the inspirations.
What a beautiful video, as always! I sometimes feel like simply remembering to take care of ourselves once in a while may be even more important than the act of self care in and of itself! It's all about the mindset! :)
Thank you for the relaxing video and especially for the tips on hand care - mine have taken a beating this week and the cold temps aren’t helping - off too pamper my 🖐 🤚
HI Niamh! I just love your videos. I found your channel about two weeks ago and I think I have watched most of your videos already. Gardening is also my therapy, it's relaxing and healing for me. I garden all year long and try to grow everything the best that I can. I would love to see more of your garden, thanks for sharing.
Loving how peaceful your video's are, I love cosying up in my pjamas and either reading or watching a movie or tv show and having some puppy dog cuddles :) :) Would love to see a video of the different soups you cook as well :) :)
Reminds me of the Greek Proverb, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they will never sit in”, it’s a lovely thing to plant trees which will stand long after we are gone...

Selfless deed...
That's a beautiful proverb!
I think my self-care for today is watching this video.
RachelTeeKae awh thanks! That’s lovely x
Agreed.
I was thinking the same thing :)
oui toujours aussi bon en 2019 (Montréal, Canada)
me too xoxo going to cut some rosemary and lavender and eucalyptus from my garden :)

Found this delightful.

Amy Louise sounds a beautiful evening! Waking up to sweet pea, how wonderful x
My spring sweet peas are also coming to an end now, And it makes me a bit sad, because that means that the heat of summer is upon us!
It's really refreshing to see other souls in the world that get it. "Appreciate the little things in life.
For sometimes, that's all we got."
I cleaned my kitchen today by your method ...wow!! it did that miracle
Knitting, spinning, reading, journaling, using essential oils, cooking from scratch, walking my dog. I feel lucky to have so many options.

I found it surprising that you find it hard to relax! 😄you have such a calming voice! Thanks for your videos I love them!!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful way of life. 💕
I've been dealing with severe anxiety for so many years. Watching your videos soothes me. So peaceful. Thank you so much.
Love your peaceful day. Love the hand care you gave yourself. Most of us don’t even think of the care. Thank you for your guiding light 🙏🏻❤️
You should do podcasts.. your voice is really calming and relaxing
Awh thanks!
Tahira Akhtar I totally agree! The voice is important. Her voice makes me want to come back to this channel ❤️
Thank you.💗💗💗
Awh thanks for taking the time to tell me... it is lovely to my heart to hear...
may you be well and happy my friend x
I really enjoy taking a bath before bed. Add Epsom salts, a glass of wine and relaxing music to make it extra special.

A bowl of Soup truly is packed with nutrients which nourishes body. Nothing better to have it in winter by the fireplace.
soup and fireplace!
Watching your videos is a balm for the soul. Wish I could stop by for some of that soup, it looks scrumptious.
hehe it was ok... bit bland... I need to add more spices! hehe :-)

I’m delighted you found too! Enjoy the old videos while I take a few months break! 🦄☘️💕🧚♀️🌈
Delightful footage. I do not eat
soup, pasta, or sauces. Only eat
whole foods in their natural form.
Love eating tomatoes but can
not stand tomato sauce. For
self care I enjoy simple eating,
slow living, minimalism and also
enjoying and living in the present.
Thanks for this charming video.
Thank you my dear... x
Thank you very much for everthing that you brought to our lives...love from Turkey
It is always a treat to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing simple and poetic moments.
Thank you for saying ..xx
Love your videos and your message - to live simply, with less, using what you already have, and being grateful! Love the idea of using natural ingredients rather than running out to the drugstore to stock up on whatever they are trying to sell me. I feel so much better using coconut oil, apple cider vinegar and herbs in my grooming products. Better for me and for our planet! Thanks for your sensible and timely message!
Ah thanks Jenny!
I love my 4 seasons here in northern Vermont. But I especially like when the weather is cooler. This means soup season. I have started making different soups to enjoy. Thanks for the comforting video.
Serenity and peace surround you .... it's just divine 🤗😘
Awh thanks so much x
This is so soothing to watch and listen to. I love soups. I’ll have to find some herbs to soak my aching hands. Thank you for sharing your own self care moments.
It's OK to say NO. You really made my day.
Watching your video is very peaceful.....nothing better than soup at this time of year.
You are a beautiful soul! Love your videos, and your calming voice.
You are a beautiful soul too!
My thing to do at night is read a good book after watching your video. Drinking peppermint tea. Sooooo relaxing an soothing lm in a peaceful place🤔🍵
Oh how I agree with your sentiment! I also struggle with the loud and over the top content of most UA-cam videos.
Thank you for the calming and uniq atmosphere you have created) Best wishes from Russia)
No garden here so i took care of my indoor plants, deeply cleaned my little home and i'm on my way for a warm and soothing bath (pedi/mani, hair and face mask with good music and a glass of something 🤗) while soup is on the stove
sounds wonderful!!
All of your videos are so enlightening and inspiring, thank you! 🧡
So therapeutic both for us as humans and nature. Love your videos!
I love watching your videos. You have such a calming voice. I feel relaxed after watching. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks so much my friend... enjoy a hand massage!!
I like a nice bubble bath put on my pjs light the fire and the candles and read a book that helps me to learn and write notes ..... perfect 👌 xx
sounds perfect!
You set a very good example!
stay safe my friend... enjoy looking after your hands and body x
Thanks Linda!
This is so me: homemade soup with a slice or two of freshly baked bread, a good book, a warm stove and I'm happy.
very calming voice you have .and you are right sometimes we need a little self care!!!!!!!!!
I really look forward to your videos. Cant wait to manifest my own cottage and adopt minimal living in my cottage!
have a picture, draw the picture no matter how simple the drawing and live happily with what you have and start looking.... took me a year and 6 months before I found this little cottage... further away from the city than we wanted but actually perfect distance!
@@FairylandCottage thank you so much!
Happy Sunday Niamh. Although I don't have Calendula I have the other herbs so I will place that in my weekly footbath have a cuppa tea and read a book, followed with a pedicure and moisturizing with my homemade salve. Enjoy your week. And thanks for the inspirations.
sounds wonderful my friend ... have a lovely week x
Your video have just such a calming presence here on UA-cam. I feel so much more grounded and ready for the day when I see your uploads xx
Ah thanks is lovely to read .... thanks x
That soup looks so good. I am grateful I stumbled across your channel. It’s a lovely reminder to slow down.
Im grateful you stumbled across the channel too!
What a beautiful video, as always! I sometimes feel like simply remembering to take care of ourselves once in a while may be even more important than the act of self care in and of itself! It's all about the mindset! :)
so so true my friend :-)
For me self care is rewarding your own body for the work it does for you. I have a handful of nuts in the morning and use a neem rinse for my hair . 😊
Hi! All this advices are "The Niamh Therapy". Thank you for your precious videos. Huggs from Italy❤️
Nicoleta Nico hehehe thanks Nicoleta! So sweet.
