Same happened to me the first time I finished the first season , I was expecting God's of the Arena to be the sequel , instead was a prequel about the past of some characters from the previous season , I liked those characters so i watched those 6 episodes. After watching Blood and Sand along with God's of the Arena, I was ready and excited to see know what happened with Spartacus , the slaves and the rest of the gladiators after they escaped from Batiatus Ludus. Just to realized that they replaced Andy Whitfield with another guy and a bunch of new actors as slaves and gladiators from Batiatus I didn't see before. Was a disappointment until I discovered he passed then I was just sad and devastated. After almost 10 years still gets me.
i think what really upsets me about his death is that he was honestly a great actor. spartacus will be great but it will never be the same without andy. rip.
I hope he's able to beat the cancer, he seems like a really nice guy. Not to mention he was awesome as Spartacus, I don't know if I can continue watching the show if the lead role is re-cast. Andy IS Spartacus !!!
I wish him strength and new and glorious paths in the future :)..but I also wish him back on this awesome show. I didn't even like him at first, but he really grew on me and seems like a really kind-hearted man. He deserves everything he can get to beat this.

Dealing with stage 4 cancer myself, it is rough to hear that a joy in your life has also been hit with cancer. Spartacus has been something to look forward too while under going treatment. 37 radiation treatments and 6 weekly chemo's. I hope Andy beats it, I really do, a good looking guy whom finally gets his big break, and still remains a humble person. Wow like Eric Bana, Andy Whitfield shows the power of male Austrialian actors. Again thank you Showtime for Spartacus and thank you Andy!

When Spartacus was big, a few people told me I look like him. It's flattering, but really I would kill to look like him, coming from a straight guy, he is the best looking man I've ever seen. How can you be so cheerful and so great looking while his body is failing? He really was an amazing man! Rest well.

ohhh gosh how sad..u hear him say he will be back for season 2..what hope he had to make it....GOD BLESSg U ANDY.... At least he is not in excruciating pain or discomfort .... :(
It pisses me off that guys like this can die at 39. I mean what a bloke. If you look across the internet for anybody who's ever spoken about him, whether costars, extras, random members of the public, or part of the production teams, you don't just see praise for him as an actor, but you see people comment on how great a guy he was. You hear stories about all this stuff he did for people that made him memorable to them. RIP mate. I'm still absolutely gutted that he's died.
