I just moved out of my parents' place. So I'm going to do this Friday next week. Going out eating alone, chilling, and working on my online business, looking like a chief in nice clothes. I learned the ability to be on my own and enjoy my own company and I'm proud of it. All thanks to this man above. The future is looking bright. One day i'm going to give this bald chad a kiss on his forehead.

I’ve actually thought about this a lot too. The modern world has made us complacent to the fact we’re living animals on this planet. Another aspect that the modern world is erasing is the need to collaborate and talk with each other. Humans are social creatures and within the tribe, we would’ve had to learn how to put our differences aside to survive. Nowadays you can block someone and exist in your echo chamber where everyone agrees with you with zero cognitive friction. We have algorithms that gluttonously feed you content you’ll like to fry your dopamine. The modern neoliberal capitalist model is taking us away from our own nature. We’re not meant to be individualistic and just focus on ourselves. We had a duty to ensure our community and people were healthy and safe, for our survival and prosperity.

  • @villes7955
    @villes7955 Рік тому +12

This hit the nail. In order to feel capable as a man (or as any person) you need some kind of autonomy. Autonomy requires know-how - knowing how basic things function. If you lack even the very basic survival skills, what kind of autonomy is that? And who really is in control of your life when bad things happen then? I think as men that is very crucial question and should be studied in our individual life.

If we don’t train or workout or brains regularly by learning new things and pushing ourselves in some way, we become weak an reliant on others.

Our brains and bodies can't undo millions of years of evolution in a couple hundred years, which is when we started to rely on technology. So we are still not used to this lifestyle as humans. Hence why there is so much depression and sad people worldwide.

This is why I don't subscribe to the idea of "faking it until you make it." When you're overly reliant on things being done for you and lack manual life skills, you will find yourself unprepared in a genuine life situation which can expose your true capabilities.
I'm not saying that things should NOT be done for you in the modern world, however it's important to have these real life skills JUST incase the thing that is being done for you goes wrong or breaks.
Life is unpredictable these days so you never know what could happen. It's better to have the best of both worlds.
Adversity is a test of your character, showing whether you can rise to the occasion with grace and strength or falter under pressure.

Mate, I have been saying this since day 1 to my friends but was always laughed at. Second year university, one of my light bulbs stopped working and I took it out, went to the shops to get an identical one and fixed it myself rather than waiting four days for some maintenance guy to show up.
It got brought up in a conversation one or two days later and I was laughed at and given weird comments about the fact that I wanted to handle my own shit.
And now I realize that those people were laughing at their own incompetence. It's interesting how the average person is just going blindly, they have no plan, no nothing. It is all fine and don't worry, it will be ok. No it won't.
The closer we get to baseline reality, the more we need the basic skills. Like I remember my dad used to figure out directions using the position of the sun.

I was in a situation a couple of years ago that cost me money because of peoples bad communication skills/introversion or whatever you want to call that led to quite a bit of confusion and a mess that could of been prevented. Partially it was my fault as well and I lost my head(again what you were talking about). I agree, money is good and provides freedom, which is why I’m getting after it. However what makes a man isn’t money it’s what the man is if you take away his comfort, how will he respond, is he cool headed, can he handle stressful situations, can he do masculine things, pair up a man who has a foundation in skills such as these and add some money and you’re that guy. A man has to have a sharp mind. It’s good for a man to learn to work with his hands even just a little, I’m currently working in construction and working on my business every day, it’s hard but I know that I would much rather live financially free and still know I have skills to do stuff

I know some things as I was growing up in 90's poland where you needed to do a lot yourself. Nobody can be alpha in all of those "manly" jobs if building empire in completely different industry.

I had a similar term to describe exactly what we are doing to eachother. Self-rearing. If you ever learn anything about domesticated animals and livestock then you know what I'm talking about.
If you put a wild cow and a domesticated cow in the wild, the domesticated one dies rather quickly because it did not learn from birth how to survive in the wild. There instincts are all messed up; Same thing happens to dogs, chickens and most domesticated animals.
We are putting the human race through the same process where given enough time, we won't be able to self-sustain ourselves the same way our ancestors did for thousands of years to the point where people would have to re-discover how to do things like hunting and making fire.
Like cattle, most people if left in the wild, would not be able to sustain themselves because they are a far cry from their wilder ancestors to the point where what would be common sense to them would be a revelation to us.
    We're reared into dependance.

24:15 It’s possible for anyone to do, pick up any skill, and anyone else that knows how to do it learn how to do it by trying, being taught by someone more experienced, or learning on their own from the book, or these days video. No one tries.
I’m pretty passionate about this idea, too. It’s more because of the freedom that I feel by having going after whatever skill I was facing when I was a kid.
Years ago, my sister called me to ask him hang a picture. She went to fucking Harvard. I was so dumb time is it in confused. I just asked her, “Linda, what is step one?”
Go buy a car that someone’s junking, but one then we have a total body, but the running engine. Buy it for the scrap metal value. Take the motor completely apart put it back together again turn the key and start it. By the Haynes manual, watch some UA-cam videos. Or ask some retired mechanic in your neighborhood to share some wisdom.

I regularly ask locals for advice more than use my phone. That's how you make friends. I can fix things and do basic handy work. I can cook for myself. Lots of the I learned using the tools we now have that never existed before. Want to know how to build a deck? I'm sure there are youtube videos. If men stop looking at videos of naked women, or their favorite mansophere influencer talking about hypramegy for a minute and search for "how to build _______" or "how to fix a", you will find lots of stuff. We do have all the ability to learn new skills when we do some research, and then go do it. It might require a "get list". For example, you'll need a couple saw horses, saw, etc... if you want to make a deck, but you can just write down the stuff you'll need as you watch an instructional video, then over time you get those things, and build your deck. At one point no man knew how to do any of those things either, once we had sticks and stones. Knowledge was hard to come by. Today the issue is we are in the deluge, so you got to search for what you need to learn.
