Verrett was one of the finest singers America produced, a fully committed artist with a great range of vocal and dramatic capabilities. Always an honest singer, and a great lady. I had no idea she appeared on Ed Sullivan, it’s unfortunate that such art isn’t shown on tv today. Verrett is sorely missed.

This may sound weird, or may not. However, I can always tell a black singer, no matter the genre of music. I am on here because my auto play just kept playing and as I begin to listen, without seeing her, I got so emotional and said, who is this black woman singing. Her voice is so full of emotion and a sound that reached into my soul. This is beautiful! They have this added umph in their energy.
