Mitchell, this was literally the most productive deadlift education I have ever had. Granted, I have spent a lot of sessions over the past two years, improving my technique and my max lift. I am a “hard off the ground” type and your coaching in this video, helped me by understand why I feel am tending towards sticking my knees over the bar. Now instead of trying to “fix” it, I am leaning i to it, and this morning’s session felt more deliberate, and I felt like I was moving really well!!
When you have a comprehensive and educated explanation of why an exercise works or doesn't it is obviously worth listening to but this is taking strongman seminars to a whole new level.
Out of everything I've read and watched I've never heard about making sure your feet are straight if you're weak off the floor. I am weak off the floor and can lock anything out once it's at my knees. I couldn't even get a pull an inch off the floor I should have hit this week. My toes always point out as that's my "power stance" and it's how I squat. I can't wait to try pointing my toes straight next week when I pull. You make this seem so simple. Thanks for this video, Mitch!
Dude your body mechanics knowledge is awesome! Fantastic break down and actual coaching on how to strengthen a wonky joint or limb. Most physical therapist I've been too don't even have the knowledge to do that!
thank you. didnt even realize this is probably why i have a slight pain on the inside of my right knee after volume sessions. Will go to work on checking this out next session. Please more of these types of videos!
Mitchell hooper, you are one of the best educators in the fitness industry and youre strongest man on the planet! Too top it off youre canadian too, kudos to you sir

For me it's easy at the top and i was just starting to figure out that it was easier with closer legs and it was awesome to hear you explain how it all works
A masterclass! I was half expecting a top level athlete like you to have generic adivce like it usually goes but this was shockingly well thought through. Even if you're done being an athlete, you could have such a bright future as an educator! (Not trying to come across as a know-it-all; I genuinely found my inner-student to be captivcated throughout)
I seriously appreciate this, for some reason I understand what you’re saying😂😂 I love to pull but have a long torso, this all made sense to me. Thank you💪🏻
This is amazin adivce an thankfully im a struggle off the floor guy so this helped me alot, im still knew to lifting an have a gammy leg but all of this will defo help me with future lifts
Bro I've been deadlifting the complete wrong way the last 8 months, thank you! I am horrible off the ground for my size, 585is 1rpm, but from a rack pull i pull 675+; I'm amped to try the narrow stance now.
Mitch Hooper, genius! Done won that title as well. What a amazing opportunity to ask Moose and him fix your problem. And always, take the hand that reaches down to help you. Hilarious.
Hey Mitch, I live up in Muskoka (where there is a severe lack of solid training options) and have always hoped someone local would do some sort of Strongman Training seminar. Not a regular thing but maybe like a 3-session (over 3 weeks) sorta thing. I'd call myself an early-intermediate lifter but have always wanted to try incorporating Strongman elements, especially Sandbag training and Stone or Bag-over-bar. Have you thought about doing something like that in the future? Love your stuff, huge fan!
How do we get to one of these seminars @mitchellhooper ? I'd love to find a coach with this kind of "per-lifter" knowledge so my old, broken self could add more lbs to the bar instead of continually injuring myself! Thanks for sharing.
Here is my prediction of the event, I predict you will win every single one, except for one with Mateus only beating you on one, the one with the stones, they lift off the floor. That’s the only one he’s going to beat you on other than that you’re gonna win all the other ones I predict the future.
Been lifting for 15 years, competed in powerlifting, been to tons of seminars - this was the best 13 minutes on deadlifting I've seen. You're the man

Damn Mitchell - never seen a deadlift instruction, so condensed, concise, well put and interesting.
You’re a great teacher!
I’ve been racking my brain on how to fix being weaker off the floor. Legit made sense immediately when you explained it 😂. You’re a legend Mitch

This is the best content on strongman. Please give us more! Also have you heard of MST systems youtube channel?
As a guy who struggles at deadlift, this is so good. Thank you!
Glad it can help 💪💪
This is such a good session. I wish there was something like this in Sydney.
Thank you for the clarification between strong off floor vs lockout! Very helpful!
Would love to see more of these in the future for other lifts as well! Wish I could have attended this workshop.
Absolutely loved the content you are so very helpful for any one wanting to learn, thank you 🙏
Love this video! So much great info. Thanks, Mitchell!

Great content. So much info will have to rewatch a few times just before sessions.
Have you always been such a natural teacher?
Awesome stuff. Exited to try it out. I am definitely hard off the ground
I seriously appreciate this, for some reason I understand what you’re saying😂😂 I love to pull but have a long torso, this all made sense to me. Thank you💪🏻

Is the rest of the video coming…
if off the ground is the harder half of the movement: feet bit closer, knees over the bar
i have a wonky knee when squatting, would i do the same recovery/workout shown in the video for the squat too? or would it be different
Hey, I never got an email for the seminar! Lol
i like it
Failed 160 yesterday feel horrible 😂 so weak
