Whenever I hear about the murders and shit that took place I always envisioned it with those kids at the age they were when we found out who they were. It didn’t really hit me that Von was a baby when he was doing what he did and going through what he did and that just hit me so different. They were kids dealing with shit most adults would crumble under. It’s devastating to realize that any child in this country has to go through that kind of trauma and experience that kind of pain and who are we to tell them how to handle that shit. Most of us can’t even phantom living like that let alone trying to be successful and thrive in an environment like that. These men have more strength and perseverance than most. They did what they had to do to survive. They were children having to worry about getting killed. They couldn’t even go to school because it was too dangerous and for anyone to judge them is ridiculous. Most of us would have crumbled under those circumstances.
i think it's easier to deal with this stuff as a "kid" than as an adult. as a kid it's way easier to be fearless/act irreaponsibly...i wouldn't do a lot of stuff i did as a kid, teenager, and young adult anymore because i would consider it to risky and dangerous. and maybe i would crumble under the pressure/paranoia etc. from my adult consciensce and consciousness

It's crazy how influential Chicago became. The cult like fascination that has erupted over the last 10 - 12 years is crazy and as a Chicago native, I never thought our city would have this much attention. When I was growing this city (and the Midwest as a whole) was looked over.
Has there even been any other cities music culture that caused this intense level of infatuation with the actual street politics surrounding the music as Chicago Drill culture? Sure you had people interested in Frank Lucas or Freeway Rick Ross as individual street stars, but people are so interested in Chicago to the point that drill participants mothers, sisters, brothers, friends etc get major interviews. People who weren't even rappers are household names (Melly, D Rose). People want as much info as possible about these people. Especially the dead people. Not to mention all the careers (rappers, youtubers, videographers, and bloggers) who got rich off the content.
Like he said even though it's so much pain, prison and death at least he is lucky enough to reap some benefit off his likeness and popularity. Most people have nothing to show from the streets except for hardship....
