If you look at the footage. He went in the store and the guy came in right after him. Somebody around there was hip to what T. Roy move was and told the dude. Only dude had the advantage when he ran up on T. Roy in that aisle (I know his face was covered because he laced his shoes up tight). Slim never seen it coming, irony to his reputation.

As heartbreaking as the video of T-Roy being shot in the convenience store is to watch had he had his weapon drawn he could have easily murdered those men that shot and killed him. His murder alone led to the deaths of many other people.
He killed an innocent person(town mechanic) trying to shoot STL members with D Rose. The mechanic was apparently walking down the road in front of Butta(and other STL members) and they fired and missed Butta and hit and killed the mechanic. Butta testified to this in the federal RICO last week.
