On the 9th of June 2019, Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for the Central Texas region for heat indexes exceeding 100 degrees. At the same time, a cold front was coming out of Northwest Texas and moving into a region where blue, sunny skies dominated; a recipe for high instability within the atmosphere. Because the forecast called for the mixing of these volatile ingredients, the Storm Prediction Center put much of North-Central Texas into an Enhanced Risk of severe weather. Surely enough, a thunderstorm began to form and strengthen in Hamilton County around 4 PM, heading southeast towards Williamson County at roughly 30 mph. Moving into Coryell County, at roughly 5 PM, the thunderstorm turned supercellular and developed tornadic features with a hook echo appearing on radar. Roughly 24 minutes later at 5:24 PM, a tornado formed northwest of Copperas Cove, TX and traveled around one-and-a-half miles causing EF2 damage before dissipating at 5:28 PM. By that time, a cluster of storms began to form west of the parent thunderstorm and eventually combined forming a severe squall line. Tornadic activity continued into 6 PM (roughly the time where my footage begins), arriving on the doorstep of Williamson County also around that time. The storms continued to cluster tighter together when a tornado warning was issued just to my west for Lago Vista and Hudson Bend, TX around 6:36 PM, with Leander and Cedar Park on the far eastern edge of the warned area. Even though my area was safe from tornadoes at that point, we still had 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail to deal with. Thankfully the hail threat did not verify but as my footage shows, straight line winds proved to be a real issue with tree limbs and fencing being blown down. The storm complex then moved into Blanco and Travis counties, still severe warned, and remained that way even into the San Antonio area, eventually gusting out after moving through Gonzales, TX; roughly five hours of severe thunderstorm activity from one storm complex.

An EF2 tornado impacted Copperas Cove, TX about an hour north of my location (from the same storm as the one in my footage)
