Just to add to the Adam love, not only is he the heartbeat of Home Free, but he was the guy who got all their early gigs, handled their finances and budget, and eventually connected them with cruise ships and concert series management. His brother Chris tends to get all the credit for starting the group, but it was Adam's tenacity and stubbornness (and willingness to sleep on the floor instead of get an extra hotel room) that got them to where they are today.

I think people forget that the other guys are taking a break now, 'resting their voices', but Adam has been backing them up on every song and will continue, except for maybe 5 minutes after his solo, to perform until the end of the concert.
He has been working on his skills for 20+ years, and he is still learning new sounds.

I've watched this video over 200 times, not to mention the other solo videos I've watched hundreds of times. I never get tired of watching Adam's performances whether it's solo, or with Home Free. He has been honing his skills for over 20 years and he doesn't rest on his laurels. He is always adding new elements to his repertoire. I got a chance to see Home Free for the first time last October and his solo was jaw dropping. Exciting, creative and electrifying. Someone asked him how long it took him to learn to beat box and he answered "I'm still learning." I love this man and his insane talent and skill. He also plays actual drums (he learned to better perform his solos), he plays bass guitar, keyboard, trumpet, as well as having a lovely tenor voice when he's required to harmonize with the other guys. Thanks for a wonderful reaction!

    1. Adam has never, to my knowledge, competed in a beatboxing competition. He's simply the best.
    2. Adam prefers not to sing, but when he does, his natural range is between Austin's and Rob's (according to Tim).
    3. Again, according to Tim (whose range is G0-A5), Adam has the widest range in the group.
    4. Circular breathing is a particular breathing technique: it includes inhaling via the nose while pushing air, that was stored in the cheeks, out through the lips, so allows for continuous playing of a wind instrument.

"I'd love to see Adam do proper beatboxing". Be careful what you wish for. He is amazing. And this video was many years ago. He now uses a looper so he can sing over multiple layers of drums. I was at their Christmas concert in December and he knocked me out of my chair. That low bass rattles the floor just like Tim does. You should watch one of the fan videos from that 2022 Christmas tour. Believe it or not, he does Carol of the Bells. I almost don't believe it and I was there. He does do a lot of sounds on the inhale, which is why it seems like he never breathes. His degree is in trumpet performance, so he started with great breath control and went from there. Their cover of the Doobie Brothers classic Listen to the Music really showcases his talents, including the very top of his range. Great reaction. Hope you get to see them.

Legend has it that when learning to beatbox in college, he drove his roommate nuts making sounds all the time, to the point of his roommate moving out!😂 The didgeridoo sound is the result of his facination with throat singing. He is the guy who can legit claim to be an award-winning beatboxer, since he has... literally won awards for it.
And yes, Home Free concerts are a BLAST - there are some well-known extracts on UA-cam of some of their best bits. Some in the comments have suggested the live version of “9 to 5” with the fantastic beatbox breakdown, and I completely agree. I’d like to add another- you’ll not only get the group beatboxing, but you’ll get Gospel Rob cutting loose! The video is Home Free live at the Hosanna concert, 2013, singing their rendition of the Christmas carol “Joy to the World”. It’s a jazzy, funky arrangement; I love hearing Rob digging deep, and the group beatboxing is amazing. This video deserves a lot more views than it’s gotten.

The fact that people insinuate that the other 4 guys are fantastic beat boxers leaves the impression that Adam's skills are run of the mill and anyone can do it. The other guys do a respectable job of basic beat box, but to put them on the same level as Adam is insulting to Adam especially given that he's been working very hard at honing his skills for over 20 years to get as great as he is.

@@lindanearing4710 I did not state that the other 4 men are fantastic beatboxers. I stated the the group beatboxing is fantastic. In all of the times I’ve suggested this song I’ve never tried to diminish Adam’s skill. It’s great that he taught the others some things so they can further impress their audience. The other comments here re “9 to 5” have not diminished Adam’s skills. I don’t understand how you read that into the comments.

@@robynmatheson7687 It's not what's said. It's what's not said. EVERY TIME someone reacts to this video, there are dozens of comments stating, "They all beat box.". To someone not familiar with the group, it sounds like, "oh, this is no big deal, they all can do it." Very few people acknowledge Adam's performances unless they are hard core Home Fries. They blow right by what he's doing because he's so good at what he does. That's why I always comment on Adam's performances. The other four guys' awesome skills are front and center and hard to miss. Some reactors pay attention, but most don't. If people are gonna say they all beat box, it should be followed up with , "To some extent." I will always comment on Adam first because of that. Sorry you were offended by what I said, but subtle nuances make a difference.

Yes Adam is The Exceptional Freak of Nature
Adam trained and can play trumpet where he learned the circular breathing technique from.
He can play other “real instruments” like guitar, he learned enough of the drums so he could mimic the movements.
Another tidbit of info is that this about halfway through the concert, and he’s been beatboxing for the last 35 to 40 minutes prior to this and will continue more afterwards.
So one of his other nicknames is The Machine.
Adam obviously loves what he is doing, You can tell by his passion and enthusiasm.
I have not seen them in concert, but look forward to it eventually.

This is great but it's years old and not even the best from back then, it just happens to be the one that most people are familiar with. His recent performances are in a different league. Definitely worth a reaction!

You definitely need to see them live in concert! You'll never go to a better party than a Home Free concert! The guys are just so relaxed - they joke with the audience and each other, they tell stories about their experiences, and sound fantastic! Once in a while they mess up, forget a lyric, or something, or get a case of the giggles, and it's hilarious!! I haven't been to a concert where they really mess up, but I've seen a few videos, and they just laugh it off, take it in stride, and have a do-over. It's a great experience!

A professional drummer was very impressed with Adam. He could tell Adam could actually play the drums (he learned for beatboxing) for a couple of reasons: 1) he puts the correct drum noises in the correct places; and 2) he uses his hands to 'hit' the drum components where they'd actually be in a drum set.

Man is an amazing talent and this old video doesn't really show off his current level of talent very well.

I had the good fortune to see Tim Foust and Friends with around 100 other people back in November. Tim, Austin, Adam, Jeffrey East, Chris Chatham, and Christopher Marion. Adam floored me when he played bass and beatboxed at the same time on Devil Went Down to Georgia. It was also my first time hearing him include a looper in his beatbox solo.
