The family car in 1970 was a Plymouth Sport Suburban with a 383 Magnum, and it indeed had that hood style, along with the mini flasher’s on the top of the fenders to indicate 1)headlight on 2) Flashers indicated 3) High beams on Was a great cruiser. 👍🇨🇦

A V8 engine swap? You can tell that truck worked for a living every minute of its life. Back then we rarely bought a new truck when the motor quit. We just kept em running good enough to pass state inspection, and that was about it. Patched together with whatever was laying around.

I've always wanted to get my hands on a Plymouth trailduster, but good luck finding a semi-decent one at a decent price. Should have snatched 1up back in the 90s when they were just used trucks, but they were still fairly rare then as well.

Hello Dick Cheese (you said it, I didn't!) Thanks for watching and writing FROM FINLAND! It is a good feeling to be able to reach "far away places" from my humble digs in Massachusetts. I did spend a week in Sweden back in 1980 during the summer. I remember all the Saabs and Volvos - many models I'd never seen on U.S. roads. It alerted me to the FACT there's a whole world out there beyond the U.S. Its all good too! A few months ago I did a Junkyard Crawl video on a Saab Turbo Cabriolet and included the fact the cabriolets were built in FINLAND by ValMet. But you probably knew that. Anyhoo, Thanks for writing. Oh, and IGNORE the "telegram scam" bogus Comment. I never ask viewers for anything except to Subscribe if they like what they see. And that's FREE. Thanks again, Steve Magnante

@@SteveMagnante Yeah sorry about the "funny" UA-cam account name, its to keep a bit anonymous, and I did watch that Saab video and got a huge pop about the fact they were built in Finland, a curious fact you might enjoy is that the Finnish Saab builders built a V8 Saab and got it complete enough to show the bigwigs JUST before GM purchased Saab and canned the whole deal. Also the Nordic countries are big on American cars, i myself drive a 1991 Caprice Classic with the anemic 305, and my dad has had over 30 different American cars in his lifetime, his absolute favorite a 1963 Imperial Crown.I also have a few French cars as projects of which i'm most thrilled over and i always love seeing anything in the US Junkyards having to do with French stuff.

As you know, there actually were Plymouth trucks early from 1937 to 1941 and then again from 1974 to 1983 (with the likes of the Trail Duster and "PB" Series vans).
Correct, with the VIN for the win: D for 2WD conventional chassis, 1 for 1/2 ton rated, 4 for Conventional Cab Sweptline, A for 6,000 # or under Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, B for 225 CID Slant Six with one barrel, aka "Leaning Tower of Power", 3 for 1973 model year, S for Warren Truck, Warren, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Warren Truck facility opened in 1938 and became known as "Dodge City" and still operates today under Stellantis. Possible code DT2469 Bright Yellow exterior paint.
My neighbor, Mr. Cook had a 1972 like this, but it was a 318 and a three on the column. It had a habit of flipping the pitman arm if you turned the wheel too much to one side. My neighbor was doing construction on a building and Mr. Cook let him borrow the truck. So, my neighbor's brother was driving materials to the new shop that they were having built and he made a turn and got stuck on a lawn---of a lawyer's office. But not just any lawyer's office, the one he'd eventually work for. We had to take a ride there and "flip" the arm back over so that he could drive it again. LOL.
When we asked Mr. Cook about it, he laughed and said, "Oh yea, I forgot to tell you boys about that quirk.....". Mr. Cook also had a 1962 Catalina with 37,000 original miles (it was a 326 V8) that was in very nice shape. I almost bought it, but he sold it to his neighbor and friend across the street, and they had it for a number of years. Later on, Mr. Cook passed away and sometime later I saw the 1972 Dodge in the local junkyard. That's the same yard where the manager told me one Christmas Eve, "Son, back up your car to the gate (an '84 Delta 88), and whatever you load in the trunk, it's $5 for all of it. Merry Christmas and don't tell the owner. He'll want to kill me." I always wore a baseball cap with a company name on it and he used to call me by that name, or "son", or "pal". He was a nice older man and had been the yard manager at this place for years and years.
The yard closed up about 20 or so years ago and one day the owner lamented to me, "You know son, when I die, no one is going to take this business over. My kids have no interest in it. I'm sure it will get sold and they'll put something up here. Well, I'll keep it going for however much longer I can....". He was a fair man, and would say, "Give me a quarter for that, son", meaning $25 for a given part. He didn't know his inventory and told me, "I don't have those cars here, son". I said, "You're leaning on one that has the parts I need". He said, "Help yourself son. I don't know this stuff anymore. I'm too old. You know it better than I do." It was an old school yard where you had to know what you were looking for, but they let you roam around freely without any issue.

As for the HEMI in the add, maybe the Ball Stud HEMI was still going to come through?
Plymouth also made trucks in the late 30's to early 40's..I cant remember the years too lazy to look it up...I need my Coffee that's more important at the moment!!!

Correct. 1937 to 1941 on Plymouth trucks and yes, again from 1974 to 1983 (Trail Duster and PB Series vans).

I thought “Plymouth” on that one just because the paint color on the cab looks identical to the hue that was on my brother-in-law’s 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus that he purchased new and owned and drove as his “daily” well up into the 1990’s before the Minnesota road salt finally took its toll on the unibody and underpinnings of the vehicle. If my memory serves me correctly, the actual Plymouth name for that paint was “Honey Gold” and it must have been a “hot” color during that time period because I’ve seen it on many restored cars over the years.
My brother-in-law always claimed that he liked the front-end styling of the 73’s better than the 71’s and 72’s with their iconic chrome bumper surrounds. Back then I thought he was just trying to explain away why his car wasn’t as sporty looking as the two earlier models, although I must admit that as I get older the decidedly different front-end appearance of the 73’s have really started to grow on me…….🤔

My brother in law had a 74 Plymouth Satellite Sundance. I think "Sundance" was an appearance package. It was basically a slant six stripper car and was gold in color inside and out with the "Sundance" graphics. I think it was a one year only thing.

@@dougfisher1813 Correct, 1974 only. About 150 were white and 150 were gold and they had the "Sundance" graphics package on them. Phoenix Graphix reproduces it.

In the US until the 1960s. After that time, they probably just kept using the same tag for a time. They were probably required to support the brand for a time (service and parts) so the tags stayed.

Hello Chris Scearce, Thanks for writing. The REM-Charger is....sleeping. Get it? I only have Super Shane The camera Man one day a week so the REM-Charger is on hold until I can do more with it. But it is all cleaned out (41 pounds of Texas silt came out) and resting indoors after its 30 years under the Texas sky. I can only imagine what it saw....Anyhoo, Thanks again for watching and writing...and being classy about the 305 / 307 shoot out. -Steve Magnante

@SteveMagnante Thanks Steve, it's all good. Thanks Super Shane we enjoy the footage and the drone footage was definitely a winner. I remember in one of your earlier comments that the REM-CHARGER was on hold. I was just checking for updates, if any. I've bought and sold hundreds of "projects." Most of them get almost finished, and I'll move on to the something else. Maybe I like a work in progress vs. the finished product. 🤔. If anyone is interested, in Milton, NC, there's a 30yr collection of foreign cars mostly European, up on the block. It's pretty close to VIR. There WAS a white 70 Jensen Interceptor 383 car there, but I was too late. 😭 It wasn't a 4spd car. The gentleman that's selling them told me that the Jensen offered the 440 in later models. Man, I bet that was a beast. But many other European cars are still there. No more Jensen, tho. Stay warm up there and we'll see you on the next Crawl. Remember, it doesn't have to be new to be exciting. PS: You mentioned earlier about some failed merchandise, got any other merchandise in the works? "There's gold in them there hills!" A little passive income doesn't hurt any. Namaste 🙏🏼

I did find a 1966 Hemi Charger in a Vermont junkyard waaaaay back in 1988. Of course I had NO CAMERA so it lives on only in my memory - and with the two other guys at the junkyard that day. One of them - noted New England Mopar wheeler-dealer Chuck Pierce - bought the gutted, engine-less hulk the very next week! I have no idea what became of it. It did have "torque boxes" and a Hemi-style exhaust head pipe with the "H" and little metal heat riser nub. It was a Hemi body for sure. But half the vertical body was sliced off and it was rusty. Oh IGNORE the "telegram scam" junk message. but you knew that...-Steve Magnante
