  • Salesforce Architect roles are some of the most common career goals you will find in the ecosystem. Architects are recognized for their high degree of Salesforce knowledge, and understanding of how to build scalable, bulletproof solutions on the platform. 🔨
Two of the most common architect roles are the solution and technical architects, and whilst there are some overlaps in these roles, they are very distinct, and it’s important to understand the differences. 💡
In this video, Ben summarizes the similarities and differences between these two architect roles, and they might be more similiar than you think!

Thank you Ben for your contributions to the SF community. I have to say that I do not fully agree with your definition of Technical Architect - what you described is just one possible flavour of TA (it seems to me that you mixed Technical Architects and Software Architects into a single role; that is possible, but it's an exception rather than the rule).
As a TA, if I had to describe my role, I'd use the words "Advisor" and "Structural Integrity" and "Technical Vision", but not code nor API design nor devOps (that are part of the technical vision, but are not a TA responsibility)

This is a good video. I recommend this. Thank You. Please do TOGAF. It is technology agnostic and widely known. Nobody knows what CTA is outside Salesforce.

Easy to boil down further, Solution architect = declarative solutions, Technical architect = both declarative and code solutions especially if you have a lot of consultancy experience. To be honest I don't know of any devs that don't just do code, as they most often also do declarative config in projects.
