***** There was actually another one in there too. I didn't even realize it until I was editing. His antlers are just barely visible. Just a little guy.
You have some of the best backpacking videos on youtube. You make us feel as if we came with you. Thank you so much for inspiring me to get out. You are definitely my favorite channel.
Beautiful footage, Crocket. Some of those deer were staring so intently, I was actually wondering if they were actually internet trolls, in deer costumes, possibly sneaking around, critiquing your techniques and system!! Never underestimate the trolls! LOL
I always appreciate your videos and the effort you put into them. As a Chicago based Photographer and studio owner, I am lucky to be able to get away more than a few times a year. As such, I rely on the vicarious joy of sharing camping experiences with those of you who post videos of your adventures. I too am an avid hammock camper. Just purchased the Clark NX270 and absolutely love it. I am not a gambler, but I would wager good money that you had either an active cell phone or GPS unit in your pocket when you leaned toward the camera and experienced the audio interference. Thank You Again. Be Well. Ian
Eat Carbs The rain wasn't too bad. In fact I hit a pretty nice window considering how much rain we had during this time. But you're right, the deer certianly made the trip.
Cr0cket...I love this vid. I've grown up in the country in the midwest and love watching wildlife. Wish I could have been there to watch those deer too. Maybe you remember me talking with you about a year ago about suggesting the Ribz Pack to the FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Teams.
I am. Thanks. I had intended on starting my UA-cam channel back when we spoke back then but had to put that on hold do to other obligations that came up. I will be starting to post videos now on my new channel. I look forward to new vids from you. By the way that hammock system looked pretty comfortable.
***** You are so real and down to earth man. That is why I have stayed a viewer for so long. Its just real in your vids and you don't seem like a .. well.. you know what I'm saying. Youre a cool guy/dad/man. Keep up the great vids man. Thank you for showing the hang in the hammock. I still need a new tarp, but I'm still swinging in my home made hammock. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Nice video as usual. Try a Hillpeople gear kit bag. Rides on the chest instead of the stomach. Works great for knife and pistol draw. I personally use the recon kit and love it.
Crocket, if you haven't seen it, I think you would enjoy the PBS Nature video: "Touching the Wild: Living with the Mule Deer". It's an amazing look into their lives. I'd provide a link but I know from experience that doesn't work. PBS stations are autonomous and area specific.
Another great video! I could sit there ALL day and just chill out. I'm thinking of selling my Canon T5i that I use for my videos bad buying the Canon G20, may I ask what camera your using? And are you using an external microphone or the camera mic?
***** don't have all the details with me now, but I will surely share that info with you. If you don't see anything from me hit me up. just a quick run through using a JVC camera, external mic to plug into that one, and another external H1 Zoom (did not use the zoom on this trip). Again, I'll give you details later as to pros and cons.
B WAX Normally I take the xds in 9mm. Certainly not an ideal caliber for bear. Mostly because it's small and lightweight. I don't run into enough bears (in fact only seen scat and tracks) for me to be terribly worried about it. It's hard to justify purchasing a caliber/gun specific for bears. The calibers/guns I do have that would be sufficient are too big and heavy for me to want to take.
Very cool! Do you ever pack a pistol when you're backpacking? Wondering what sort of holster you use for backpacking and how and where you would carry it. I usually stuff G19 into the water bottle webbing on my pack but I'm not really satisfied with that. Looking for a better way that is still discrete and won't intimidate other hikers.
superfly2201 I usually take the xds 9mm. In the ribz pack I have a cheap uncle mikes holster with velcro sewn to it, and velcro sewn into the ribz pack itself inside one of the mesh pockets. Carries pretty nice. G19 is too big for that area though I think.
The audio interference is from either a phone or other RF source on your person. Notice it only started up when you came in the immediate proximity of the camera...
modernhereticnw right on the money (from the phone). I didn't realize until I was editing. I barely had service in this area and only enough to text. That was the only time I had the phone on.
Nice, but going out there for extended time, you really need to be careful. Stupid things, like falling or twisting ankles or cutting yourself. Take care.
Nice video mang. Especially liked the dear footage and song you chose for that. Reminds me of that song when the Battlestar crew finds the Pegasus ship. Not sure if you watched season 2 ua-cam.com/video/JculidrJIbI/v-deo.html
Awesome. That young Buck was really cool to see.

Great spot with good neighbors! The look on your face was priceless.
So pretty with their summer colors! Enjoyed the knife work too brother!
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing with us!
Sweet shots of the deer. I really liked the way you ended the video swinging in the hammock too. Thanks for taking us along, Cheers!
algreen thanks brother. Loved watching those deer get so close.

Awesome room with a view.
***** I know what you mean. Would rather this than a hotel any day.
8:44 - Nice view. The ability to camp on uneven ground is a factor I had never considered. I should try a hammock system someday.
I always appreciate your videos and the effort you put into them.

Nice! Very nice.. love that area. Kinda of a bummer about the rain.. but seeing those deer would have been worth it.
Thanks for the video

O man, that is some great video you have C20, good job. Those perks like the view and deer are what it's all about.
usframe Can't agree more. Those moments are truly what make the trip and certainly make it stand out from others.
Those are the moments that keep you coming back to the wilderness
Just beautiful...
Beautiful. That was quite a bevy of deer. Looks like they got pretty close.
Gun Sense (drmaudio) They did. It's always fun to see how close the animals will get...as long as they don't eat me ; )
Waiting for part 3 bro. Lucky stiff going out there on your own...hehe.
Clouds Rain Someone asked me the other day if the solo trips bother me. Nope. Although they do bother my wife : ) She hates when I go out alone.
Just great, elks episode made my day.
I have seen does chase bucks away, and I had a doe follow me on a parallel ridge for miles. You got it on video, I am envious Cr0cket.

SmokeEater308 I still love that ribz pack. Just the convenience of having all the priorities handy is great. Hope you're doing well.

0WickedSensation0 Have heard good things about it. Will have to give it a go when funds are available.
Awesome stuff!
Nice video

05generic will have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
The benefit of the larger blade bush knives is it is much easier to baton. BK7 for example. But I do agree that I like my BK17 for everything else.
I'm excited to see the 3rd video Crocket. What's the hat your wearing?

How about sharing with us the firearms you take on your backpacking trips.

What are the pants that you're wearing? I'm liking this video series. Keep it up!

How close did the deer get?
Paul Waller ~20-30 yards if memory serves correct.

Bud, i hate to tell ya but i think you might need an upgrade in the audio department.
Christian C thanks for the feedback.
