    This clip is providing a very informative details most people did not aware. It gave me a confirmation that digital piano are quieter in general, and especially when they are new.
    Even when they are aged, the key noise are not much worse than acoustic piano.
    Thank you!

    Thanks for the video. I'm amazed by Kawai's, they're really quiet throughout the range. I have a few years old Kawai CN34, and my mother is disturbed by the key sound watching TV as both our piano and the TV is in the living room :) So, key noise is so important! I'm impressed by the new Kawai's, as I'm considering upgrading to CA79 or CA99.

      @Darth Sidious The key sound from most digital pianos is massive compared to the key sounds from my organ and synthesizer. The manufacturers need to find a more quiet way to make weighted key mechanisms. Plastic versus wood is not the main problem. Acoustic pianos are quite noisy too.

    Excellent. I always look for this info on you tube reviews, None seem to cover it. well done and thanks. The Rowland models seemed quietest to in your test. I am more interested in arranger keyboards, but this at least says that, even top end pianos have significant noise. Im sure all could be much quieter if manufacturers focussed on it instead if trying to make keyboards sound and feel the same as the traditional action on real pianos, with their old fashioned clunking noises. Theres Nothing worse than watching somebody clunking away on a modern keyboard in their headphones.

      The same here, I have search for long time something similar, and I didnt found anything. Then, i decided to make it by myself! And i agree with your impression. In a silent piano, or in a digital with Real piano action, the noise is annoying for who, in the same room, is doing anything else. Something i read that also neighboor can hear the toc toc.

    To all potential purchasers of any digital piano, over time the noise will become more audible, cheaper entry level keyboards are the worst, look for a digital piano with solid wooden keys, as being featured in this experiment

    Very nice video. There is a real sound difference between the digital non-hybrid pianos (sounds more.. plastic) and the rest. The Kawai and Yamaha hybrids sound very much like the silent pianos which I find a nice sound. Also the keys don't make a sound when released which happens with cheaper digital pianos like my old Hemingway piano which is quite annoying for other people in the room if you play with headphones. I ordered a NU1X three weeks ago, can't wait.

      Yes also me i owned an clavinova CPL760 (i try to remember the model) that the top of the noise was not when i push the key, but when i released it! This is a very annoying issue because i think it is more resolvible than the noise on pushing

      I also consoled myself that the keyboard is so knocking on all digital pianos, but I could not get used to the knocking, on a quiet sound it is just terrible. I passed my own piano (I decided to save money and buy a Chinese NUX WK-310, I was satisfied with the reviews), I will go to the store to try other ones. I'll look at the Roland FP-30X, maybe it's quieter. The sound of keys on my disk.yandex.by/client/published?idApp=client&dialog=slider&idDialog=%2Fdisk%2f sound%20klavish%20WK-310.3 gp

    Thanks for the video. Very informative... not easy to find this kind of reviews on pianos. Question: is there a way to eliminate (or at least reduce) this annoying thumping sound? I have a digital piano Yamaha P115, and when I play with the headphones on, the thump sound is heard downstairs from my neighbors. I don't want that. Maybe adding some think layer of soft material inside the key pockets0. I believe those are the source of the noise when hitting the plastic elements from the bottom case. Let me know what do you think about. Thanks!

    • @YAYDChannel
      @YAYDChannel  2 роки тому +1

      I think that Kawai is the most silent but not the ones with the same feel of wooden keys... We cannot have all... if you want a DP with the feel and real hammers well, iit will be more noising than a traditional DP, but surely less than an acoustic silent

    • @user-ch6gm2st2d
      @user-ch6gm2st2d 3 роки тому +1

      Yes, with a price of $ 11,000! Is it really so difficult for manufacturers to make normal inexpensive silent keys? People modify their pianos by adding lubricants or gluing additional material to reduce noise, but for some reason the manufacturers do not want to do this.

    • @YAYDChannel
      @YAYDChannel  4 роки тому

      Consider that all pianos was recordered at the same conditions. No normalization, no effects, no compression. If the difference is little, maybe I was not at the same distance between pianos, even if is matter of 3-4 centimeters of difference. If is big, then one is more loud.

    • @droazen
      @droazen 4 роки тому +2

      It's hard to tell, since it's also affected by what you were playing and how hard you were pressing the keys. But the GrandFeel3 action in the CA99 does have "firmer" padding under the keys than the GrandFeel2 in the CA98, so it's possible there is a real difference in key noise. CA99 still seems quieter than a lot of the others...

      When choosing an acoustic silent, havo to consider another thing, that someone - me included - don't think. While the upright acoustic have wires well hidden behind it, the grandpiano have wires well visible from the middle of the room to the plug.

    There is something wrong with that C1X, no silent piano should sound like that. Someone else who heard it thought the stop rail might be mis-positioned. I've played a silent C3X and is sounded nothing like that.

      Thank you for your response, in that shop there was 1, 2, 3 , all silent and all the same noise. That i can say is that depends from phone mic quality.
