    You are a huge force in adoption of this next generation of common tech. My dad taught me how to work on ICE's, I'll be teaching my kid(s) how to work on batteries and repack / rewire their electric equipment.

    And to add I would love to see you push big amps through the boards that'd be cool. And for anyone that hasn't handled headways. Use a #3 Phillips bit. You won't strip or cam a single screw

      Many headways that I bought directly from factory comes always with #5 hexagon allen bit screw.

      @John Papajohn and those I would prefer. The Philips screws are fine though long as I've been redesigning my car audio pack I haven't had any issues. But the factory screws are always preferred. Good to know that's what they come with. Are they steel or aluminum?

    Updated:
    Ran some quick numbers to see what it should be able to handle:
    150A will give you a 11C rise above ambient
    200A will give you a 20C rise above ambient
    260A will give you a 40C rise above ambient
    This should have no issue pushing 150A without much of a temperature rise.
    What would help is increasing the exposed copper on the bottom side where the headway top touches the pcb.
    Also adding via stiching will help.
    Great work

    For some reason I was almost certain headways were constructed similarly to 18650's in that the entire side leading almost to the very top of the cell is negative; and that only the tip-top of the cell is positive

    I'd rather see one made of 5S or 5S2P Lithium Titanate cells (maybe 66160 40Ah cells) . A bit voluminous perhaps, pricier and less energy dense as well but no longer have to worry about temperature damaging it. The dang thing would also last virtually forever.

      Yeah, LTOs are very for high power loads. Even they can be charged at very high rate. Never seen it, but really want someone tests LTO cells...

    • @Tron-Jockey
      @Tron-Jockey 2 роки тому

      @@johnle231 - the operative word was "virtually". But you're correct. The reality is that, while they can easily see well over 10,000 charge cycles they do have a limit. However, 10,000 charge cycles (roughly 30 years if charged once daily), would for most applications be essentially forever.

      What’s the deal with lto tho. From what I gather it’s chemistry wouldn’t be good for power wall tho right?

    • @gamtax
      @gamtax 2 роки тому +1

      @@johnle231 It has some potential though. Great discharging and charging performance. The caveats I see so far are voltage and cost. Lower than LFP (2.6V) and thus lower specific energy. The use of titanium may make LTOs a little bit costly, I think...

    Having a terminal to hook up voltage sensing would be very convenient. I don't mind the busbars and aluminum plate I've use but running the balance cables sucked. Not cause it was hard by any means but because it just didn't look as clean

      @catch22frubert 2 роки тому

      @@jehugarcia With a resistor, or anything that acts as a resistor, like a 12v light bulb in this case would had worked well. Back in the day, when they used to sell those 5 farad capacitors for car audio, they would include a resistor in the package to get the capacitor voltage to slowly come up to match the battery before you hooked up the capacitor in parallel between the battery and amplifier. I imagine a 10 ohm resistor should work fine, as long as you aren't trying to equalize a crazy amount of power. I've seen people connect the battery ground to capacitor banks and use a 12v test light to connect to the positive of the battery and the positive of the capacitor bank, and the test light itself will act as the resistor and it will charge the capacitors. Anyways, any resistance you can put between the battery and the capacitors will help slowly charge the capacitors safely so the capacitor banks voltage and the battery voltage is close to the same when you make your final connection

I really would love to build one of your power walls in my home country so as to help my community as well as other in solving our electricity needs. To be honest we are almost in total darkness over here, we barely have electricity for up to 30 days in a year, our energy sector is almost non existent. So please sir I’m willing and ready to purchase batteries and PCB modules from you so as to be able to at least live a normal life like the rest of the world. Please reach out to me if you can. God bless you.

    you should check out conventry bars for headways banks, just to compare.
    7:45 you mentioned those soldered pieces are rated for 80 amps, which is only enough for 4 cells in series at 10c. which some people run harder, from what i've read most say about 12-15c discharge is fine with these cells.
    i'm not sure what other people use these cells for, but in the car audio community these plates just wouldn't cut it.
    great idea for people using them for small amounts of discharge, but it would be great to see some implementation of this design with thicker plates for full use of these cells.
    He deleted my comments on his other videos where he claims this is capable of 500.amps, then you have people commenting wondering why they're boards are melting or welding themselves to cells... This is a bullshit product, if you need high amperage draw from your cells don't use cheap hardware like this. Buy or make yourself some proper bus bars.

      So I pulled the battery out, slow charged it with my power supply and retested… Amps went up to 1070cca. So Here is where It got confusing to me…. I removed one roll of eight cells. Amperage went up 1277cca. But why?
      I put the 8 cells I removed on a bus bar and they tested around 400cca. cells were holding 3.6v and mfd:2021
      Idk what to say, I guess I’m going to put it back in service tomorrow.
