The M3R sound pretty authentic to me, owned an M1 for approx 8 years, sold it in 2004.
Got back into music production 7 years ago, money tight, was told the M3r was not much cop as it only has 16 noy poly & 1 osc, but for £55 I couldn't let it pass!
What a purchase!
Good solid sounds of it's own plus I managed to obtain a RPC-00P (£25) card like Maniac...but the real bonus is that 4 years ago I managed th pick up a RE-1 from a second hand shop..very cheap.
Now I have a retro digital powerhouse of a synth which still cuts it today.
I do oldskool techno, jungle + drum & bass...
This unit along with my Yamaha TG500 is a staple in my production....
P.S. big up MIDI Maniac for a great video, I just subscribed bro...
Ah I had the M3R as well! Although I never really liked or used it, it was very affordable to get into the Korg M1 sound universe! :) Only 1 Oscillator, 16 polyphony (or even 8?) hard to program, ultra small display etc... was not much fun to use... the Korg Mirex (M1R ex) that I had, on the other hand... whoa! :) Nowadays I use the Korg VSTs in my Cubase program! With all sound cards etc on board, excellent! Very nice playing and presentation of the Korg M3R, thanks!
Don't miss the fact that M1 and M3r have the same hardware resources, same number of oscillators, same effects, less waverom but the overall structure is the same. The programs are structured in a different way, since a program can have one oscillator only but since M3r is preferably played as combi, (same as many other modules vs their keyboards), is very easy to program couple of patches that coupled in a combi can sound like a program of M1 with 2 osc, 2 vdf, 2 Vda and same effects as M1. Also the 11 new waves of M3r can add something more than M1.

The RE1 controller really takes the M3R to the next level, especially for sending the unit a sequence and manually playing the sliders assigned to effects. it is great as a cheap 4 output drum machine as well.

Great material! It's so good to have the M1 sounds on my M3R but I downloaded it looking especially for the classic M1 Organ sound but unfortunately it's not in the patch list :(

Hi! This card is a standalone card and doesn't need any other card. A great way to have those special M1 sounds available for your M3R :D

Esta tarjeta también puedes utilizar con el M1 pero no tiene mucho sentido porque no lleva sonidos propios. Lleva solamente los programas de los sonidos.
