Our story is very similar to both of you but in the CyberSecurity space. Def taking the first step is the hardest but looking back also the most rewarding. Looking forward to witnessing both of your journey and if it pans our hopefully meeting in person to exchange stories! :)
Hearing you talk and share your experience is truly a treasure. It make people like me feel like is possible to be cheesy and dream about changing the world. And for people like me I mean young professionals from "undeveloped" world, Colombia South America in my case. That "if you feel in the back of your head that you are not learning enough" 6:37 totally got me. Btw sorry for the broken English, I'm still learning
After ten years of (immigration imposed?) imprisonment, a stagnating career chasing the (still) elusive GC I'm now relocating to Silicon Valley all the way from the east coast. This was part choice and part compulsion. While my thinking was similar, listening to you both was motivating and has washed away any lurking doubts. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Hello Sriram/ Aarthi, You guys are very inspirational and motivating. The major points summarised will help lot of youngsters. Looking forward to more content. Regards Eshwarprasad ( Aside: Was your junior at VSR)
I am a namesake of yours (i'm also a sriramk!) and from chennai, and thats what prompted me to start engaging with you on social media. And after the AR Rahman's interview, I was hooked. Probably my most favorite meal-time channel to watch!
@@AarthiAndSriram Also also, if you are ever in Boston, and need a tour of Northeastern University and maybe wanna meet with some students who are aspiring product managers and techno-optimists like you are, please let us know!
Congratulations, Sriram. I just found out that you may be taking a big job with the Twitter. I have been watching you and Aarthi on your podcasts for the last couple of months. Really enjoyed your interviews. I hope that you will have some time to do occasional podcasts. If not I wish you and Aarthi all the best in your new endeavors Warm regards, Babu Shankar, a 70 year old fan from Los Angeles
Hi Sriram and Aarthi! Love the show and really appreciate the honest content. I am a fellow south Indian techie in FAANG (F & G, even spoken to Aarthi in Meta) in the bay area. Your journey has been a very interesting one. I often think to myself about my growth and currently I am starting to see the advantage of the geographical location slipping. What is your take on this? Moreover I am a different sort of techie, I am more into the meat of research and want to traverse by building robust and large scale systems. Its becoming more and more difficult to convince myself on growth. What advice would you have for a person like me? TIA
Bold decision. Understanding is the Key. Your are Basically Entrepreneurs [ you are not employees ]. Kindly share your message for school children of age group 15 to 17
Hello Aarthi and Sriram, I changed drastically a lot by watching the podcasts and people you were interviewing and it's indeed true that we are average of 5 people who surrounds us. I would like to maybe make a video on culture at DAOs as they are buzz word and new ways of working in remote and making connections virtually
That's true. We are forced to serve the job for sustainability at the inception stage, later we have to go with our potential & indeed aspiration that will succumb to the compound benefits over time
I’m going through massive life changes now, moving back from a cushy design job in Amsterdam to India, and planning to do my own thing. Thanks for the quick 7 min booster to say that nothing is ever figured out. At 30, it’s the right time to take my leap and do it from Chennai/Bangalore. Hoping to grow from it and nothing more 🤞
Thanks for this video. I have a question - what was your visa scenario like back then? Can you actually quit and live independently without a job on visa?
Hi folks! Liking this format of quick-takes. I'm sure we can learn a TON from your experiences itself, forget other guests. Could you, perhaps, create a video on how you actually went about creating the great network that you've built in SF and what you actually did to land those step-change jobs and opportunities? How to connect with the powerful execs etc. and how to prepare for step-change jobs?
Hey Sriram, I just watched your latest video on you guys leaving microsoft. Your journey is really inspiring and motivating. I am 24years old and I am doing my Masters in Germany. I have been doing my Master Thesis from Siemens for the past 4months. I have a doubt, I want to know will your career grow differently or take another shape when you work for a bigger company than a smaller one? Also, Ideally how can you make most out of it when you come to other countries and aspire to go back to india.
(1) were there any asymmetric financial return scenarios from your “safe” jobs that gave you the financial freedom to be an angel investor (2) how did you get access to some of The Valley greats like Elon etc. As a fellow South Indian who also immigrated to the US and is in a FAANG company I am very inspired by your journey.
@@AarthiAndSriram That make sense. I worked for a bay area company for 6 years in order to get my greencard. That allowed me to work on my own startups. Pandemic situation kind of forced me to move permanently back to my home town - Bengaluru. Now I feel the next decade belongs to India and Bengaluru is well positioned for tech related.
Just 200,000 a year? From the buzz and publicity around this it seemed like 200 million at least, or 2 billion. I get right now 300k a year in a career that seeks environmental and social impact and keeping my head down. Hopefully more young people will appreciate hard work (and luck, yes) instead of overhyped tech crypto bs
Very good. Very relevant. Appreciated for taking time to give candid views.
Thank you for sharing the real reasons...
Looking forward for more inspiration.
Thank you so much for doing this
Such a inspirational couple, best wishes 💐

I came here subscribing your channel after getting to know that you're partnering with Elon's new business venture...
Do you guys got invitation from Mr. Elon?
How did you manage your US visa and greencard situation ?

Now that you are partnering with Musk in restructuring the Bird, you are sure to see a big increase in subscriber base.
BTW nice content.
You look like the great khali 😂
Can you guys add me to one of your mentees list please?
