Hi George. Love your content. I came across some of your old videos where you had some babacos but I haven’t seen you mention them lately. Just wondering if you still have any and if so how they are doing. I’m in Melbourne and just bought my first one.
I have several babaco inground. All but one are cuttings taken from the parent a few years ago. Unfortunately, none of the cuttings ever fruited. Good luck with yours.
Wow. I never knew the climate down in Melbourne was that nice. Up here in Tenterfield, northern NSW we get bloody hot weather for 6-9 months straight and very little rain. The surface of the soil goes above 60 degrees C in summer, too hot to stand on, and it sterilses the soil. To keep the soil cooler I place 6 sheets of paper overlapping each other, mostly non-plasticy looking, over the surface of the soil then cover with either dirt or plant debris. Give it a try if your soil gets too hot. It also insulates the soil from freezing in winter.
Nice video George. It’s good to see some movement on some of your trees. I know I’m cheating with the hot house but whatever gets results right. I’m looking forward to a future in depth update on your hot house experiment. Definitely beach weather!
Hot house tropicals are much thirstier than I thought. The heat inside is insane when outdoors climbs over 20C. Currently using 100 litres of water every other day for those 4 plants!
Avocado trees are looking good...I've just bought Hass, Bacon, Fuerte and Reed varieties. I hope they will do well in the ground this time. Didn't have much luck with them in pots...
I'll make a note to do a video. Lamb Hass got root rot after I forgot to turn off the water hose for 2 hours. Pinkerton mightve been over watered too, but it's still alive.
It's 31°C at Seaham in NEW today but we will get 33-35°C days consecutively from tomorrow then until Wednesday when we get rain & even thunderstorms for a few days afterwards where the temperature 🌡️ will drop down to 34°C. 3 of my potted mango trees have thicker & more woody trunks now & they can withstand the cold during winter time up here without cold ❄️ protection. I have 2 Striped Tiger "Panache" fig plants which are fruiting & I have to water 💦 them frequently because the potting soil they're growing in was dry when I watered them at about midnight this morning. They're 2 years old now & I grew them from cuttings !

I grow them in Eastern Victoria. They do really well here.

Pots are ok if you must, but inground is best. Good luck!
Can you make a video of all your avocado trees only? What happened to the lamb hass and pinkerton?
I'll make a note to do a video.

Ok sure. I'm still learning myself. Stay tuned.
Hi George, could you please do a video on your jujubes? Looks like sll the tropicsls are enjoying current weather. They all look so happy.
Will do
@@RealLifeFruitopia Thanks George 😊
why do you not have a bore well for water?
I'm located inside a big city of five million, not rural.
Grow some Natives. Melbourne is not Tropical.
Maybe for your garden, but It's tropical as it gets in my garden!
