- The maestro from Poona. The last of the previous generation of the Dagar Saptak. I heard him once in Poona in a sold out concert - the delicacy of his touch is still fresh in my mind.
Anyone who sings melodies of the Mahakaal of Kal, of the Bhairav, of the Neelkantha, the Sadashiv, the always auspicious and pleases him with sincere and pure music will definitely enjoy his blessings.

Pujya Guruji is highly enlightened Soul - it is my personal opinion. I have high reverence towards him. So I feel he is doing early morning Sanagayana as Sanaveda deals with spiritual music 🙏🕉🙏

The syllables you are hearing in the alaap (the long elaborate unfolding of the raag, unaccompanied by any explicit pakhawaj (drum) accompaniment), are taken from the sacred mantra:
॥ ॐ अञ्तरन तम, त्वं तरण तारणी, त्वं अनञ्त हरि: नारायण ॐ ॥
॥ aum antarana tam, tvam tarana tarani, tvam ananta hari narayana aum ॥
It is a prayer to The Almighty: O Lord, I find myself/I am in Endless Darkness, You are The One Who will/I rely upon, to lead me out of this Terrifying Darkness/out of this terrifying Ocean of Samsara (the material world), You are the Infinite Lord, O Endlessly Kind and Merciful, All Pervading Lord, (please help, please accept my plea for help, ...).
The syllables are adapted for musical rendering, so that:
ri => Hari (Lord)
na => Narayana (Lord)
num => Aum (ॐ) mystical primordial syllable out of which the entire universe was created ...

Eric O'Daly , Dear Sir, the aalap, the raga introduction part consists God common and exclamatory names , sound peg-hangers of Brajabhasha language (of Mathura Vrindavan) and music notations. The rhythm part include Bandish mostly the incantatory lyrics whose rendition being fixed 'Dhruv-pad' immutable poetry is still esoteric knowledge.

Gunakri does not have Gandhar and Nishadh. The bandish sung here itself starts with Ga and has Ni. How can this be not Bhairav?

There are compositions in praise of both Allah as well as a variety of hindu manifestations - with or without form not withstanding. Compositions depend on the bent of mind and inspiration of the composer.

Don't know what is difference between regular Hindustani and Drupad .Drupad very melodious
Dhrupad and Khayal(which you mentioned) are two forms of hindustani classical. Khayal originally was not a part of classical music, but it was introduced by islamic rule in india. Dhrupad is original classical music. Swami Haridas and Tansen were both dhrupad singers and not khayal. So Khayal is an addition and not original part of classical music. Nice that you enjoy Dhrupad.
@@mihirtejaswi5080 If you want to think of khyal as 'light classical' as compared to dhrupad being 'classical' (North Indian baroque, really... same time period), that would be amenable. The taan is very different, stemming from the buddhist period of India, thus manifesting the melodious, non-dual/full timbre (taan) that draws you. Dhrupad is the only form to historically carry buddhism, islam, and hinduism. It's such an incredible and lovely form of yoga/self study/meditation.
