I am truly saddened that some songs in the movie are lost to us forever. Especially since that scene in which the audience is presented to a Kotha for the first time in the movie has so many details, and the songs are so beautifully sung. I wish someone would retrieve them somehow.
Another reference that Heeramandi have to Pakeezah is in the song "Saiyyan hatto jaao" we can hear in a dance break (on the audio version) a part of the song "Alaap" from Pakeeezah.
Haha so i am 21 years old...loved watching old movies and classical songs...when my nani comes we always watch 3-4 classical movies on repeat...pakeezah is one of them i watched it so many times i even remember the movement and dialogues hehe😂❤

Pakeezah one of the greatest films of Indian Cinema. Meena kumari a legend ends her career and life on a high note with this performance.
Sad that Meena Kumari couldn’t see the success of the movie
In hindsight, the movie was successful in part due to her death.

For me, the letter Kamal Amrohi wrote sounded a tad bit manipulative. I'm in the majority ig I don't see their relationship in a purely romantic light
