"Please, curtains in. Start us off...You swing first. Sorry. I don't know what I said, but you're crying now again, and that only makes it worse. Let me do my job. let me do my job. "Sylvia, get your head out of the oven. Go back to screaming, and cursing, remind me again how everyone betrayed you. Sylvia, get your head out of the covers. Let me take your temperature, you can throw the thermometer right back at me, if that's what you want to do, okay? "Please. please calm down. Steady out, I'm terrified. Sorry, I want us to ally, but you swing on little knives. They're only sharp on one side. "Sylvia, can't you see what you are doing? Can't you see I'm scared to speak, and I hate my voice 'cause it only makes you angry. Sylvia, I only talk when you are sleeping. That's when I tell you everything. And I imagine that somehow you're going to hear me..."
I knew the lyrics were powerful but until they were put like this you can actually picture a scenario in your head, and it's amazing story telling music, greatest album I've listened to
I love this song and performance! the whole album is thought provoking, sad and transcendent . Listen to it mushrooms or pot and sink into the depth of emotion
This live version has a way about it that kind of puts you in a trance. I did not get that from the LP version. But, I think that quality makes this very interesting and allows it to stand on it's own merits.
do u think those plants came with their set up? like do they bring those little house plants to everywhere they go? or did KEXP come in and slide those onto the the piano board and be like "o here ya go thought this might look nice"????
they play atrophy from time to time, but generally they stopped playing hospice live, which is sad as fuck. I saw them live too, and they played atrophy - at least.
Usually I like his vibrato. My only irk is that he's sounding like Tiny Tim in some of my favorite parts here, and that's not really a good thing. I do love Tiny Tim though.
I don't know if you can talk though: you like the National, the boringest band on earth? (though do you like Sharon Van Etten? She is friends with them and I saw her open for the National at Red Rocks, but didn't stay for the entire show because I wasn't high enough for the National!)
I have watched/listened to this probably 30 times in the last 24 hours. It's everything right now.
❤
Words cannot describe how much I love hospice
Always beautiful, one of the most emotionally connected albums I have ever heard. It's almost a family member.
HAUNTING vocals. world changing earth shattering etc etc. christ.
I laid in bed with my friend Gabby and we listened to this whole album it was breath taking.
I hope people look into how powerful this song is.
I saw them live a month or so ago, I wish they had played this song... I probably would have cried openly.
I love this live version
this performance just brought me to tears. wow.

when just reading the lyrics tears you up
I love the ending in this live version.
Great, thanks for posting. The music hasn't yet started and I can already tell I like it.
This is now in my top five of favorite songs. I hadn't made any modifications to that list in a couple of years. It was well worth the wait.
When I saw them in September they played Kettering and by far the best rendition of Sylvia I've heard thus far. Peter ripped it apart.
sois bueno, sois muy buenos. os lo digo en español porque no importa el idioma. sois muy buenos. gracias kexp, nunca me decepcionas .
I love this song and performance! the whole album is thought provoking, sad and transcendent . Listen to it mushrooms or pot and sink into the depth of emotion
this band needs more support! i wanna see them in south america.
Right? That would be amazing
YES! THE ANTLERS!!
This live version has a way about it that kind of puts you in a trance. I did not get that from the LP version. But, I think that quality makes this very interesting and allows it to stand on it's own merits.
This fuckin hits home on many levels!

Every time I listen to hospice I know that I’m not over my trauma
I don't know why I do this to myself
Great comment lol
11 years later how you feel fn
11 years later how you feel fn?
Ehh hope you’re doing well, buddy
@FLAMMABLEsquids I cried the whole way through the album.
@xxALLIEALLIExx Indeed. Hospice is absolutely beautiful in it's sadness. Everything about it just...makes sense, you know?
You may hate your voice Peter, but it's absolutely delicious.
sylvia by miike snow is great too.
do u think those plants came with their set up? like do they bring those little house plants to everywhere they go? or did KEXP come in and slide those onto the the piano board and be like "o here ya go thought this might look nice"????
dude
El cantante no tiene gran voz, pero su pasión y sentimiento lo arregla todo. Qué manera de interpretar y sentir la música.
I really hope the ghost of Ted Hughes is singing this
it would be a douchy thing to do, he was kind of a big prick to her, hahaha, specially after she died
7:00
to remove the mourning of black screen so it won't be 13mins, please adjust the out point before exporting. tyvm.

to give you time to weep....?

@FLAMMABLEsquids couldn't agree more man
6:50 Now I can die.
when he pulls the headphones off for the last chorus on i'm scared to speak and i hate my voice...walking into the ocean
she was scared to speak cos her voice only makes you angry
I saw them in the summer and they played nothing off hospice
why is the video over 13 minutes long?
the traditional microkorg.
honestly thought this was sung by a girl
nah, just a soyboy (just kidding, love Antlers!)
The music is good but the vocals are painful...
yeah but he hates his voice because it only makes you angry
