Meteorologist: It's pretty weak
Tornado: *destoys house*
Meteorologist: Oh
Moral of the story, live anywhere except Moore.
Or el Reno
I used to live in Moore than I moved to Norman
I can’t imagine the insurance rates? Jake from state farm be like.. um no
i live in moore, lived during 2013 and the 2015 one
Love it here though
Many years later, this event still frustrates me. My dad was in one of those cars on 119th St. and there was no tornado warning at the time. I still don't know what took the NWS so long on this one. I feel like this one is also remarkable because it took out our radio towers that managed to stay standing through May 3rd and May 20th.
So grateful to David Payne for his amazing coverage!
Idk how David was saying it was on the ground, but yet no sirens went off!!
@@tawnikitari Because the city sets sirens off based on Tornado Warnings which are issued by the National Weather Service. A lot of Emergency Operation Centers don't watch the news during severe weather events because they are busy watching the radar for themselves and talking to the National Weather Service.
@@tawnikitari Also sirens did go off a few minutes after this tornado was confirmed.
May I ask why you cut out the point where David realizes it is in Moore? We were watching this live and he kept saying South OKC and then very quickly they realized it was NE 12th in Moore. There is probably 3-4 seconds missing from this video, you can tell when the banner changes to Moore and David starts saying Moore over and over again, even expressing surprise a second time that Moore is being hit again.
I remember watching this live on the news while living in Lawton/fort sill Oklahoma
The weather was so awful everywhere in Oklahoma that day but I was so devastated for this city that’s gone through so much
Mannnnn that last bit on the lady who had JUST closed on her house....that sucks. I think after the cleanup, the first thing I'd invest in is a storm cellar!
I have had to actually see this when I was in probably 3rd or 2nd grade.before the tornado ocoured I looked outside I saw a dark grey and purple sky I wasn't in more I was in OKC the sky looked so scary I had felt scared and I still remember to this day when the tornado started it was raining heavily and hailing they sky was now golden grey I was severely traumatized I still remember this to this day...
Hopefully you have been able to work through that trauma? You can be more prepared for next time at least :)
Damn tornadoes are just looking for Moore :/
They seriously don't need anyMoore tornadoes there.
Its true as a person who lives in moore
DeadEye how’s the break of it been?
Sad. I kinda like the rush and panic of the possibility of a tornado...
I was in that area
and it was very scary
Tornado here and there.
Turn right then see a tornado
Turn left saw another one
In front of my van with my pregnant wife and two daughters 4 and 2.
6 months later lightning
Hit my van in new Mexico.
Worse year for me.
My experience was: "TORNADO IN 12TH STREET IN MOORE ..NE 12TH ST IN MOORE tornado on the ground" said by Dave.... Lights go out in my aunt's house... I yelled out and pointed up "TORNADO" grabbed a pillow and a heavy blanket and went to the closet.... 3 seconds after that out of the west side window of the room I was at I heard a loud gust of wind.... Guess what... THAT WAS THE TORNADO!! 7Minutes later we head outside and saw the damage.. my first(possibly) second tornado experience.... The 2007 Dallas severe storms I think I was either inside a microburst or a tornado... The news never came to my area to do survey
Tornado: exists
Yet gets all over the news
@ 5:59 I kinda tear’d up
God... That school will never get a break...
I'm guessing a helicopter probably isn't the best place to be when there's a tornado dickin' around
Actually it is lol
OR SO U THINK THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING
There you go thinking again...
Good grief! How did I not know about this day? I still spend time looking at 2013!
I moved there in 2016 In Okc
All those power flashes looking like lots and lots of flash bulbs going off...seen power flashes before but never that many in a short amount of time
Those flashes have me chills
That was insane. Even got him to tornado emergency. Which of course was an overstatement. But can't say i blame him. It looked like a giant circulation with multiple spin ups- which im sure gets everyone having the same name in mind- El Reno. Always see random comments of people knocking these and other guys for being over amped or dramatic etc. But people just dont know what alot of them have seen. The Moore storm in 99. Then another in same dang spot in 13. THEN El Reno right after. I mean ffs, thats alot to deal with. Then im sure they see places like Tuscaloosa and Hattiesburg and Joplin and they relive the experience again. Thats gotta burn into your brain. Going in your basement and then come out and everything you own and all your neighbors is literally gone. Its just like damn. David was down there ground zero for each of them. I cant even imagine what they saw. And they prob see it and feel it every time they see something like right there. Damn sure will give u chills
Funnel cloud at 7:35
I was at Whittier middle school 7th grade
Dave is a legend.
Keep talking at the same time, you professionals...
WOW ! that was extremely violent
Strong tornado, but by no means "violent."
Tell me you live in Moore without telling me you live in Moore
Men I remember year 2015 was scary tornado warning
Tornado deemed very small in comparison compared to 99 or 2013
@@Secret19977 yes I agree same thing 2013 worst storm in Oklahoma
My favourite tornado video
"is val Castor on the ground?"
Nooooo! Derp
Jim......GTH OUTTA THERE
There's no such thing as a "weak tornado". A tornado is a tornado and should be fully respected.
Right and because a "weak" tornado can very easily become a strong one
Closed on a house in Moore? Shoulda known better.
lol i lived through this one i lived in moore for almost 4 years :) i miss okc :) #TrueOklahoman
All this with tornado warning from NWS......
There wasn't any.
Why is it so hazy ?
Because there's dust and moisture everywhere.
This setup was supposed to be linear this tornado was a rare one it is studied by NWS to this day
This was definitely a weird event. It was a linear squall line, but a mesocyclone formed on the leading edge of the squall line and developed very quickly. These are usually referred to as QLCS tornadoes, but this tornado seemed to have its own mesocyclone as well, being fed by the straight-line winds behind the tornado. So kind of a hybrid QLCS/supercell tornado.
tornado emergency i thought this was an F0.
Man, if you saw that town after the 2 big tornadoes youd understand . When you see pathes of damage 1/2 or 1 mile wide, where everything is just splinters, itll change you
It was an EF2
It's cuz it's in a populated city plus the circulation were just popping up everywhere. You couldn't track them through a single path like usual
@@peachxtaehyung lol I know now because I wasn’t very smart back then
Was an F2, anything from an F2 onwards can cause mass damage
Lol imagine being a teen and your parents say we have to move to moore cuz your dad work is being transferred lol. I be like I hope we're building house made of brick and re inforcment lmao
How do people live somewhere like Oklahoma? Everytime it thunderstorms I’d be shitting my fucking pants
Born and raised OKC, and while I will always respect a tornado having been up close and personal with three of them, the worst part is the build up the local media hits us with for days ahead of actual storms. They love ratings and really pour it on….worst-case scenarios constantly mentioned.
So this pilot was able to capture a tornado....without a air issue, but fog killed Kobe.....😔🤔
The fog didn’t kill Kobe, the pilot’s inability to see killed Kobe.
This pilot has good visibility. Kobe’s pilot didn’t have good visibility and got disoriented.
So annoying when they overreact
Not sure if you live here, but people just get so used to tornado warnings, they become numb. They will only take action if there is a tornado spotted on the ground and heading towards Moore. You have to overreact to get their attention.
Agreed. David is usually cool, but sometimes he gets really worked up and everybody starts talking over everyone.
Geez 5:05 looked like we were watching some video from Iraq
Who else went to whittier middle school
One Year Later..... owo
Those people in their cars driving are crazy, that was a E5 tornado
It was n 1999, and 2013 Moore was struck by EF5. This was an EF2
Its was not an ef5... It was an ef2 lol
"e5 lol" and not even close. EF2
This guy literally runs from the tornado while listening to this broadcast
