It's getting steamy in Somerset!

- We have arrived at Hoburn Holiday Camp in Blue Anchor Bay, Somerset.
We decided to take the 15 minute steam train ride from Blue Anchor into Minehead. This was the first time Dione had travelled on a steam train. The West Somerset Railway (WSR) is a 22.75-mile (36.6 km) heritage railway line in Somerset, England. The freehold of the line and stations is owned by Somerset Council. The railway is leased to and operated by West Somerset Railway plc (WSR plc), which is supported and minority-owned by the West Somerset Railway Association (WSRA) charitable trust and the West Somerset Railway Heritage Trust (WSRHT). WSR operates services using both heritage steam and diesel trains. Our return trip was done on steam trains. You can go on the full 22.75 mile trip or go from the various stations.
It was fun to explore Minehead. The High Street is really bustling. We found a very cheap, very good cafe called Brambles and have visited it several times now.
We ventured into Watchet which is a friendly, vibrant harbour town on the West Somerset coast. The town looks out across the Bristol Channel with views along the unspoilt coast and across to Wales. It is set against the green backdrop of Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is an excellent centre for exploring both. The cliffs and shoreline either side of Watchet Harbour offer fascinating geological interest, fossils can be readily found.
Located in Washford, we went to Cleeve Abbey, which is said to contain the finest cloister buildings in England. The abbey church was destroyed by Henry VIII during the dissolution in 1536, the cloister buildings including the gatehouse, 15th century refectory with its glorious angel roof and 13th century heraldic tiles have survived remarkably intact. This is an English Heritage site and it was a great day out.

Great video guy's. I've never heard of Watchet, but the place looks amazing (yep I use that word a lot too. 🤣). Sound is brilliant. Keep up the good work both. 😎
Always look forward to your comments, Gareth. Really appreciate them! 😊 this whole area is really lovely, lots to explore, but we have had realitively good weather so that helps 😂. Have a good week! ❤
More enjoyable places in Somerset and a first time experience too. Enjoyed by Millionaire Paul 👌
Thank you Paul! Your comments always make me smile! Much appreciated ❤️ Dione
Missed the train when we were there looked fab. 🤗🚌❤️
It was fun! It helped that we had glorious weather. Thank you for always watching and commenting. It always makes me smile when I see your comments ❤
Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching! 😊
I dont think either of us have ever been on a steam train either, it looks fun and a bit of a novelty. Lovely to see Watchet again, you had better weather than us 😂
Yankee Jack, I totally forgot to include info on him in our video or we just ran out of time, but over his life he sang many sea shanties which have been recorded/written down somewhere. I'm sure there's a National Trust place related to him nearby too. Really astonishing he lived so long - sea air and singing I guess?!
The abbey looked a peaceful place to go back to the past, and Minehead is somewhere we've never been, maybe to the supermarket, I can't remember 😂
Hope you're enjoying Somerset ❤
We've lucked out on the weather so far. We had 1 day of rain, a few days of cloud and the rest, sunshine! Although we're back in Redditch today and the car has frosted over this morning! We stayed in hotel last night after driving up for appointments. Blue Anchor looks warmer this morning, so we will be glad to get back there later today! Thanks for the info about Jack! I didn't even think to Google him. Yes, you probably got groceries in Minehead. The morrisons also has LPG. Our train car had old fashioned curtains but none of the others did and the guy we were sat with told us it's because a new Agatha Christie, coming out at Xmas, had been filmed in that train car 2 weeks earlier. He also recommended a few places to go and not to go 😁. Always great to speak to friendly locals! Thanks for catching up with us!! It means a lot! Have a great weekend! ❤️ ❤️❤️

The blue skies were so unexpected!! And yes I bought a 4 quid small backpack in the charity shop 😂 my old one was too big and bulky. We will be staying near Weston at the end of the month. We love a good abbey and we have now more than made up for paying for English heritage 😂. Hope you have a good week and thank you for the lovely comments. They always make me smile 😁🥰❤️
Not a fan of Butlitz. i would volunteer for the escape committee if I was there today.
😂😂 we did NOT even venture near the place. Fortunately, it's a far walk to it from the high street. Thanks David 😂
