Wesley left the poker scene and got into the lab with a poker coach. My suspicion is that it was most likely Andy Stacks. The river check-raises are new additions to his game. His ability to know where he is at is something he was not doing in his early days.

I friggin love watching Wesley play. And the new version of him is even better. Something tells me he got some coaching cause some of the moves he made we would not have done a few months ago
Henry got scared by the $100k, if Wes had QJ wouldn’t he mostly kept betting the river most the time in fear of a check behind? (JJ as blocker to QJ that’s all)
That line made no sense. A raise to 10,000 preflop and another 10,000 on the flop when it’s was 1063. Then the turn gave him an open ended and then betting another 20,000? That’s a call all day. Made no sense, pay the man off if he went runner runner. Mostly high pocket pairs do what Wesley did. Bad fold and bad play. Why he’d call the turn if he was going to fold like that with a better hand in the river?
If you go for a thin value and you can't handle a check raise, why even go for it in the first place against an aggressive player? Bet to induce a raise and fold, perplexing.

@@rahulbangre9152 The point was to turn JJ into bluff, since they were too weak to call the river bet. With JJ he blocked QJ, which would be the nuts, so the probability of Henry having the nuts was significantly lower. That's why he did it, to represent QJ with lower probability his opponent has it.
Very advanced play by Wesley, but I think the small river bet size by Henry kind of induced this bluff. Henry can have all the 7s here, while Wesley as the pf 3bettor rarely do. Of course QJ is a hand that wes might play this way, but if he went runner runner nut straight, given his own bluffy image I think he would just blast the river instead of check raising.
you can't always blast it there though regardless of image, he has to build the check raises in to allow him to bluff missed draws but also get value from the nutted hands
Weasley taught Henry some GTO there, its a punt to block bet IP on the river almost always, you open up yourself to be very explotable through getting raised there against any competent opponent.

Henry also lost to a possible 7x hand or most likely the pocket 77. Or JQ. Idk it looked like a "please fold you can't call this" bet.. the man buys in for over 2m he's gonna make steals.. why it's always good to snap check a mid two pair on a one to a straight board.. so you don't give your opponent the chance to check-raise you off the pot if he knows your thin betting for mild strength but not with the nuts. This play works a ton in p.l.o. in Texas it's much harder to get away with. Easy to make plays (bluffs) when you have that much money in front of you. Lol
why would you bet 8/10 on a 1card straight board plus the early position already check if you know you can’t call a big check raise, could’ve been a easy show down

Blocker bet as a concept does not exist for player who is in position. If Henry was worried about getting raised he could have just checked back instead of reopening the action.
Easy to see when you’re not in the hand. But the bluff seemed obvious, he raised 10k PTE flop & then raised on the flop 10k. Why would a JQ raise when the straight is a gut shot, & no pair. Only reason he won is cause he knew his opponent was short stacked & raised like 40% of his pot.
