Actually, we had the first military drone on our Destroyer. It was for anti-submarine warfare. It was about a half to quarter scale helicopter called DASH. Drone Anti Submarine Helicopter. . Gyrodine QH-50. We flew it off of a specially designed and fitted helo deck (part of “ FRAM ll”.) toward the after end of the ship. It was joystick controlled. It was semi-successful. It was successful……..when it worked. Pretty cutting edge for 1962.

its all about the sensor package.. the global hawk pinnacled with an israeli designed camera and sensor kit that could monitor well over 100 individual targets at once in realtime. ive seen this workng ( in simulated scenario) and it was hugely impressive . and that was over ten years ago..
