Those are awesome mobile microphones on CB's and also on Ham radio's too. I have 2ea. used ones and a New in the Box Turner+3 that I have and not been molested and soldered on.I do have 2ea. Turner +2 base station desk mics that is been used on my radios as well in excellent shape.Just don't over modulate the power on the slide or you'll get some really Hot audios coming out your radio and they will have a heard time hearing your articulated voice.I keep mine about less than 1/4 of the power to get excellent audio's same goes to the desk mic at around 1/8 power between the 1/4 power in between it.

The JM+2U was my first power mic, used it on a few radios over the years. That thing sounded great, wish I still had it. Cheers

I use button batteries taped up together on my Turner J+. Cheap as chips and works great.

You go to the dollar store and you pick up seven button batteries and you put them in shrink wrap they work perfect

I just picked up a m+3 and M+3B. Used, but in very good condition. $10 each. I was excited to get them. Also got a Texas Star 250 for $40. Worth that whether good or blown. Haven’t tried it yet, but I’m gonna say for that price, I need a couple 2290s. Might be a good time to switch them over to 2879s.

If someone has one of these they would like to sell, I would love to buy one.
I am restoring the car we dated in and this is the mic we had on our Robyn WV23 radio.
Everyone swore I was running heat!

I have a m+2 on my old Courier base that’s been on it since the mic was new,one of my favorite power hand mics and I just scored another m+2 on eBay for $20 shipped from Florida. Dude found it in his granddad’s old radio room when he was liquidating the estate, don’t know anything about it,not even sure if it works,it’s not wired so we shall see in a couple days,I’ll wire it 5 pin for a President and she how she talks. Got a couple days to source a battery or work out how to repower it but I’m excited to get the old girl.

Nice score on the M+2. Here is a video that may help you on the TR175 battery issue.... ua-cam.com/video/fS1ay0ZnZhk/v-deo.html

Someone's got to make a rechargeable lithium-ion solution for this style of battery

I actually have this very mic model aswell. It came with a CB radio (Schmidt-Elektronic BS 712 G) I bought from a flea market a long time ago.
For the battery I actually "rolled" it myself using 5x LR44 button cells and duct tape 😀it actually works without a problem.

Oh yeah. I had one of those mics on my Cobra 140GTL (which I still have, but not the mic) back in the early 80s. It sounded great. I made a little holder to put the mic into to emulate a desk mic. It had enough gain that I didn't need to "close talk" it. Thanks for another cool vid!

    • @390WagonMaster
      @390WagonMaster  3 роки тому +1

Yes these mics do have that kind of gain.... Thanks for watching.

That was a damn good power mic. Back in the day . Do have any idea where I can find one of those blue /white Turner +3 mobile and base , please

    • @390WagonMaster

Local sales and eBay is where I would look. During the plandemic prices went through the roof, things / prices look like they are coming down a bit now.
The mobile mics can be difficult to keep in service but they sure to sound great!!
Base mics last for ever and IMO rarely ever give you a problem.
      Cheers

This was my first powermike. I had to wire on a chord than figure out how to wire it to my Royce 23 channel mobile. They still sell the 7 volt battery but is expensive

I can pick up a turnup vintage JM 2/u from Turner. I think it’s the mic right before that one. It’s a 1969 or 70 it’s absolutely beautiful guy wants $35. I just bought a road devil I like to throw it in the garbage.

@@390WagonMaster do you have to have a good battery connection or you put those little button batteries together until it equals up to seven V you put it in shrink wrap and you make a battery. I’m not gonna buy it myself even though it’s beautiful it looks almost brand new

Do you have an old Wilson Trucker power mic? I have one and there doesn't look like there's a cradle to hold a battery inside. I'm baffled.
If you have one maybe you could do a vid on it. There are no vids on youtube or anywhere.

I'd like to know I have one of those M plus 3 Mike's Turner's and I want to wire it to my Cobra 148FI know the wiring code to the plug

    • @390WagonMaster

      Should be...
      1-Shield
      2- White (audio)
      3- Red (TX)
      4- Black
If the mic keys up when you plug the mic in and when you press the PTT and the radio unkeys, then swap Red & Black...
      Cheers

I haven't seen one of those before. To me the colour and styling make it look even older that it actually is.. kinda retro 1950's kitchen esq :D Not meaning that in a bad way, I like the retro look and I am sure like many older items it is built to last.
