Colorado, hell yeah! I'm going to swap one into my 56' Willys wagon behind a 302. Just wanted to see how the engine revs while driving. Thanks for the vid.
Look man I know everybody drives their truck different but I do have a couple tips that you should find helpful… #1 when you’re taking off in first gear “and second gear unless you’re hooked to a trailer or taking off uphill” there’s no need to give it any throttle to slip the clutch, just ease the clutch out and it will be take off just fine without stalling the engine and your clutch will last longer #2 please Please PLEASE come to a complete stop when shifting the transfer case, at lease when you’re shifting into low range, and also make sure you’re at a complete stop before shifting into first gear as it’s a very low ratio and nonsynchronized . #3 just a helpful tip… you don’t have to lock the hubs just to shift the transfer case around through the high range and low range, if you leave them unlocked and shift into low range that gives you two wheel drive low range and would have been much better on the truck for the demonstration you did on the pavement. Soft dirt and grass isn’t as hard on the running gear in four wheel drive but pavement really puts the running gear in a bind in four wheel drive, especially when you turn the steering wheel. Two wheel drive low range is great for backing up trailers and really just any time you want a lower gear than your normal first gear. …. Now I’ve always been more of a F350 kinda guy but even still I can’t even begin to tell you how jealous I am of your truck, it’s sharp as hell. Thanks for sharing the video
@@OctaneElectrons no you won’t generally have any problems while driving the vehicle, these are more or less just good driving habits for a vehicle you intend on driving for a long period of time. I'm currently thinking about whether I should get an automatic or a switch, with all-wheel drive. Do you have to shift a lot with 3 gears? I've been driving only automatic for about 20 years

Why would that bug you? Where else do you put your foot? It's not like I'm riding the clutch, I just rest my foot lightly on top of the pedal. It's especially not an issue on a big truck with a heavy clutch like this one.
Octane & Electrons On the floor. And it does make a difference and I wouldn’t call that a big truck it’s a half ton. If the clutch moves when you “rest” your foot on it then it’s making a difference.

Have an 83 F150 6 cylinder with a 4-speed, engine runs great, but the clutch is on its last leg i believe, shakes like a bitch if you dont get the clutch and accelerator pedal action exactly right in first gear, all other gears are fine and shift nice, drive it every other week but would daily if i had the funds to run it with the gas prices here in Europe.
Yup sounds like the clutch is toast. How many of these old Ford trucks do you see in Europe?
@@OctaneElectrons Not a huge lot of the older ones as in 90s and older but quite a few inbetween 2000 to 2010 year range, the 90s era trucks place is taken by the Chevies atleast around here where i live. Also, old american Ford trucks always come at a premium over here which i can only assume is because of Chevys stigma in europe and less old Fords being imported over
@@thug_573 Ah got it. Glad you have an old one!!
Hi
I thinking of purchasing the same truck and was hoping you could tell what rpm yours runs at in 4th gear?
Can you run it on the freeway? At what speeds?
Can you tell me your rear gearing?
Thanks so much!
Sorry, I sold it a couple years ago. I don't recall gearing or RPM. Thanks!
I have the same truck. I have 31inch tires and 3.50 gears. At 55 i run 2300 rpms
What’s the foam stuff on the shift lever??
Sorry not sure what you mean. Where?
Is the 4 speed a Borg Warner or New Process?
I don't remember sorry.
What speed could you cruise on the highway comfortably at for longer trips?
It was happiest at 65 on the freeway, but would easily do 80 reliably.
@@OctaneElectrons at 4000 rpm I bet. I have an 82 Bronco with a c6 and 3.73 gears and I turn 3600+ RPM just to do 65 with the auto, I don't daily it but I take it on the freeway fairly often.
I am looking at a 67 f100 are they easy to daily drive
I thought so, I had no problems driving it every day. I don't know if I'd want to commute 80 miles a day in it, but a local drive would be just fine!
What’s the mpg?
About 13mpg most of the time if I remember right.
Is that the same transmission as the one in my 89 or is it a different 4 speed?
I think it is a different transmission, not the same as an 89.
I think the 89 had a t18 or t19 his truck probably has the np435
Where did you set the cámara? And what kind
It's an old Go Pro 3 with a suction cup mount. Still works great.
Octane & Electrons how much you paid for it? Thanks for answering
Nice. I m in the market for one.
Good choice!
Out of curiosity is the paint scheme brown and cream ?
More of a copper than brown. Cream/off white I guess. It was a great combo.
So this is what a 79 is supposed to sound like...
Yup, sounded great.
I have looked at a lot of videos on 1979 fords and I was wondering with a bench seat is there cup holders
Also I’m only in like 8th grade so and I want a 150 automatic but like yea
@@cazysteve7226 Mine did not have any cup holders.
@@cazysteve7226 Manual isn't that hard to learn, I'm 16 and my first truck is a manual 96 f150
Jnic I never said it was hard
@@cazysteve7226 how come you want an automatic then?
Is it hard to drive this truck?
Not at all! Very easy to drive.
Is it a extra cab?
No, single cab.
i live in colorado too
rad!
What's a 351M ? so not a Windsor or Cleveland
www.moderndriveline.com/the-confusion-of-the-351m-400-ford-engines/
That answer's my question .Always been curious ...awesome thank you!
Is it a NP435 or T18 and does it have a 205 transfer case.
Yes it is a NP435 trans and NP205 transfer case.
You like 351m motor
Yup, great motor!
easiest ford 350 to stroke, just find a 400 crank and pistons.
is yours tilt column
No it is not
How many race miles?
hahaha. none!
Beautiful truck but please don’t yank it into 4lo at any speed please 😂
She didn't seem to mind!
Esa es igual a una 1977???
Si son iguales lo único que cambia es la coraza de enfrente
This was a 1979
So loud like mine 😂 ridiculously loud, it’s the only thing that i don’t like on these trucks
Yup they're not quiet.
Aliya Mountains
cool
They don't make real American iron anymore.
I agree!
I just bought one but an automatic bc I’m a millennial
Break the millennial mold...drive manual.
I don't get it i thought an auto was admitting defeat when people get old.
If your buddies don’t like driving a manual. They probably identify as gender neutral!
haha
It bugs me that you drive with your foot on the clutch. But nice truck
Why would that bug you? Where else do you put your foot? It's not like I'm riding the clutch, I just rest my foot lightly on top of the pedal. It's especially not an issue on a big truck with a heavy clutch like this one.
Octane & Electrons
On the floor. And it does make a difference and I wouldn’t call that a big truck it’s a half ton. If the clutch moves when you “rest” your foot on it then it’s making a difference.
Cool buddy when it's your truck you can drive it anyway you want.
Octane & Electrons
Well if it was my truck I wouldn’t ride the clutch 😁 have a nice day
Jonny Simpson doesn’t make a difference with a cable clutch. Hydraulic clutch is a different story but they didn’t come around until 84. Cable clutch has about 2ish inches of free play
Umm lol
sorry?
" ... which I'm actually getting rid of ... " Because I'm actually throwing money away due to financing it
Which is why I turned it in when my lease ended. I now drive a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4 Duramax. Old truck, but reliable and no payments.
Hi I need to know how to get more speed on the freeway wich gear do I need to achieve better speed with less RPMs?
4th gear would be your only option on the freeway. You could also add an aftermarket overdrive.
