I think the band, mostly the percussion, let Susanne down on this. She deserves a better production value on this. The best covers for me are Sinead (obviously), and Jimmy Scott for piercing your soul.
I will be the first to speak in favour of Susanne, she is a seriously talented artist and I love her music deeply. However I just don't feel this cover; the original has always been in my top 5 songs of all time so this was always going to be a tough approach but in my opinion this didn't gel. I rather think the band itself were devoid of soul and sounded little more than a karaoke tribute act. I'm sorry Susanne, I think you are amazing but this song just didn't work for me :( LOVE undercover and the mountaineers btw :D
