2:49 There are a couple of things that could help with range. If you look on the backside of the remote, in the centre there is a plastic plug over a hole. It's possible to leaver it out with a thin enough tool and some patience. Under neath you'll find the screw that holds everything together. Once you've got the remote open, you could either replace the antenna, which is just screwed onto a contact pad, with a custom-build one, or simply drop a blob of solder on the wire and the contact pad, making contact to the antenna 100% more reliable. And the rest is really just screwing everything back together. While you're in there, you could also clean the contact pads for the buttons and the control knob with some rubbing alcohol. They can get dirty and unreliable with use so they don't trigger correctly anymore.
By the way, if you're having trouble with the couplers between the tender and the engine, I've designed a simple replacement hook and loop system that can be screwed in place where the stock couplers are. It's also possible to remove the rear coupler from the tender and add a lightly modified Kadee coupler in there, as well as on the cars (if you're willing to use their self-tapping screws to install the mounting bracket). I have to add that on the tender the coupler will hang a bit lower if you install it onto the bogey, so you need to bend the brake hose out of the way of the track, and the coupler won't tolerate a lot of gradient differences (kind of negates my fix with the engine, huh).
A very nice set, but you might be overwhelming the engine with as many coaches as you have. It’ll struggle around curves with that big of a load. Just keep it to five coaches as a recommendation for next time, but it’s nice to see a Lionel G-Scale train outdoors.
Thank you sir. Yeah it’s a bit too much for it lol. I wanted to make it more realistic like the movie. I’ve added some weight to the engine and it’s doing ok. As well as I run a rechargeable nimh battery in the tender.
talk about a noisy motor in Lionel's G scale Polar Express. to me this is why I'm opting for a kitbash of two 4-6-0's into a single 2-8-2 Mikado polar Express. less noise and more pulling power.
@@rc4lifebnsf any way you can kitbash a 2-8-2 Mikado from two 4-6-0's from Bachmann for your polar Express? or even convert Lionel's polar Express passenger cars?
I got mine now and I know what it is now. It indicates that the batteries are wearing out. Doesn't mean she can't run quite a bit more, just that there isn't peak power available anzymore. I simply bought rechargeable C batteries in place of a more expensive LiPo with tamiya plug, so I get to be ready much quicker.@@rc4lifebnsf

@@rc4lifebnsfI can't believe you made the polar Express train to long. And why is your pond dried up at 1:55?
@@kevinsweeney2810i like it this long lol. Not enough water was in it.
@@rc4lifebnsf you need to put more water in it. Eh?
