I love how you are so respectful with your descriptions of older versions of perfumes using terms like "vintage smelling". I get so darn tired of people using derogatory descriptions like "old lady" for vintage or past era fragrances. On the other hand if someone says a perfume smells old lady, musty, Grandma etc. I am often interested in it! The Chypre and aldehydic perfumes of yesteryear are not in fashion, but I see chypres discussed more in niche brands than they ever were the last decade. Newer noses just have no experience with how masterful and complex the chypre genre of perfumes were/are and I think they are timeless. oxJulia
To build on this theme of derogatory descriptive terms for fragrance styles, I’ve heard a JPG fragrance referred to as “stripper” fragrance. Many others agreed and stated this is what stripper smell like. I find this quite odd. First of all fragrance is subjective, we all have our preferences, likes and dislikes. Poor performance, weak longevity, poor quality packaging or not a value for the price are more hallmarks for a ‘bad’ fragrance. Not whether the fragrance is peasing to your nose. Maybe it’s that I’m a research chemist and I guess just don’t spend enough time in strip clubs to know that this particular JPG fragrance is ‘bad’. I actually like it. Referring to perfumes as ‘old lady’ is equally inappropriate. Dated would be more applicable because that was the style of the genre. Someday the current style of fragrances will be dated to future generations and we will say vintage. Vintage is an excellent word as it honors the time and its place then and now. Many people appreciate vintage even if it’s not their style. Variety is the spice of life. The world would be a boring place if we all like the same things. 😊
I love Ralph Lauren Blue, it’s so feminine and light floral and it lasts on me! I wore it in the past and it still reminds me of the past. Love it and will always have it in my collection. Great videos Sarah.
New subscriber here and I’m really loving your videos! I haven’t tried many of these fragrances so lots to look forward to checking out. I agree with another commenter in regards to Revlon Ciara, it is stunning! Thanks for the great video. ❤
I’m still trying to get hold of the pre-reformulated CD Addict albeit the new formula is great. Dana’s TABU still smells incredible although turns to a skin scent quite quickly in the EDC I find. Many vintage bottles of TABU are still available but it’s always a bit of a risk in case they haven’t been stored well and haven’t held up nicely. Cacharel LouLou is another great reformulation, different to the original but the right ingredients and notes amped up/toned down and refined. Molinard’s Habanita EDP stays true to the original EDT too. Some beautiful vintage perfumes that I feel that are reformulations done brilliantly 👏🏻
I adore Rochas Tocade too!! 😍 So comforting in the dry down 🧘♀️ A total gem and so pleased I took the plunge and bought it blind. Can't test it anywhere sadly. Veronica from Veronica Says channel also love this perfume, so it was definitely worth giving a try 😍👏Xx
Burberry Brit gets me compliments, which can be rare at the best of times!! 😁 Especially at the gym of all places because it projects as you move around(! It's fresh and uplifting and back up worthy. Love it 😍😘😍😘
Thank you Sarah. I am relieved to hear that Alien hasn't been totally butchered or even diluted I need to try the new version asap. I love your videos.
@@elisabeth400 I've recently purchased a 2006 batch of Lou Lou and it's absolutely gorgeous! I'm going to purchase the new reformulation soon because it's a staple in my collection.
So glad that Dune is still good! I have an old bottle and it's so special, but I've never had a chance to smell the new one to compare. I don't know if you ever tried the Poeme sample I sent you for a wear test, but personally I think Poeme is still soooo worth buying despite reformulation - it's dry down in particular is stunning, it's super strong and it lasts all day on me. The Current Cabotine de Gres EDP (and although it should be the other way around.... EDT if you like mega beast-mode!) is still crazy good too!
Cabotine EDT is more beast than EDP?? 😮 i ve just bought the EDP because is always in my collection due to its very performances and resemblance with Tendre Poison but now you say the EDT is more beast mode I’m tempted to buy also the EDT. The smell is very different from the edp? I have to say is winter here and it smells amazing in cold. I ve never received so many compliments on a fragrance not even to very expensive/niche ones.
@dianap1211 lol yeah it's strange but the epd is a bit softer and smoother and therefore not as loud as the edt! They smell very similar though - would love to hear what you think if you do get to compare them!
I really love the bottle from Dune, I don’t think I’ve ever smelled this one. It’s on my list to try. I also have to buy Dior Addict. I agree that J’adore is beautiful. I wear that in the spring time and I get at least 6 hours with it. 💖🥰
I think people who comment about Alien don't own or haven't smelled the original. It doesn't last nearly as long anymore and many people prefer Glamor by M. Micaleff. The opening is different but the dry down is basically identical to the original Alien.
Great video! I still have a bottle of Rochas Tocade that was gifted to me many years ago for my high school graduation in 1996. I’m looking at fragrantica and the oldest one they talk about is from 1994 with a red cone thing, but mine has a green cone and I’m not sure when it was made. Anyway it smells quite heavy but i really love it. I was using it very sparingly since I got it but recently realized that life is too short. Also, I had a few fragrances go bad and I felt really sad. So now I really want to use my fragrances and nice things and not save them because no one can guarantee the future.
I have both formulations of Burberry Brit EDP and I agree the new version didn’t stray too far from the original formulation. The performance of the original is only a little better than the new one.
I saw in one of your vids a while back now you received a gift set (I think) containing Badgley Mischka Forest Noir. In that vid you only sprayed a quick sample on paper but your reaction was intriguing. I couldn't stop thinking about it so I blind bought a bottle. OMG I LOVE it! I've been dying to know what you think of it I"ve been waiting to see it in a "what I wore last week" but it never shows up. PLEASE wear it and tell us what you think! 😍
I believe Alien smells slightly weaker than it used to but, I mean, its still alien. I am just not fond of any of the modern Alien flankers (Goddess & Goddess Intense )Great video. 💙
I have insolence in the bee bottle and it’s stunning and strong. I sold the edp and got the edt because the edp was a bit strong for my taste though I adore it, so either one is strong.
Hi Sara, I bought a 100 ml bottle of the Hot Couture last year for nostalgia sake, it being my signature scent many many years ago. Was it really 2000 because I swear I wore it way before that. I have the edt and I love the scent. To me it smells pretty much the same way.
How is the performance of the current Dune? Does it have longevity and projection? On fragrantica people are saying it doesn’t last and doesn’t project. Can you give us an idea about this please?
Hi there! It’s no where near as good as the new formulation and by itself it doesn’t last a super long time, maybe 4-6 hours. It If I layer it over lotion though it will last all day. ❤️
Jean Patou's Sublime reminds me of what Dune used to be- though I believe Sublime is discontinued.... you can get it on discount sites however! It's like a Chanel version of Dune.... maybe you'll understand me. Though I think you're not a fan of Chanel. Oh well. Perhaps you'll come across Sublime! I did and I feel lucky to have it. Original orange blossom looking bottle is what I have. 😊
I don't agree with Alien and Dune, and some more fails are, beauty by Estee Lauder, Happy by Clinique, bright crystal by Versace but I do like Dolce and Gabbana Red Cap, Moschino Femme and Joop Femme
Hello Sarah thank you for this film. May I ask for your opinion? I've been buying Burberry Brit sheer since 2010 because for me it was the most beautiful peony fragrance on the market but I've noticed few years ago that it smels different :( still like it but not as much as before :( Do you know if it was reformulated?
Wholeheartedly agree with your list. 🤟 New Angel is no good and new flanker is disappointing. Named "Angel Elixir" for 185.00 for 100ml but its not remotely Angel. Like not even close. For that money or even less I can buy something amazing and interesting from Tauer or Untamed🤷♀
On me Burberry Brit is gone after 2 hours, i don't think the reformulation is good. Other Burberrys are fine, lasts long but Brit was unfortunately a let down.

dune is my number one frag......I may repurchase..thanks Sarah.

I loved this! x P.S. I'm hoping for a Dreamhouse Ikiryo update on your sale purchases soon!
Absolutely! I have so many to share! ❤️🫶
Other reformulated perfumes *100%* *worth* getting are CK Obsession, Chanel Coco, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Chanel 19, Chanel 5, Chanel Cristalle, Cacharel Anais Anais, Revlon Ciara, Shalimar, Ralph Lauren Romance. Chanel is really holding the fort down.
Lou Lou by Cacharel is still good! 😍
I totally agree with all of those. Chanel does a great job with reformulations. ❤️
Chanel does great formulations! Shalimar smells the same,, hard to even detect that it has been reformulated

Burberry London has to be my favorite of theirs, and I do have a backup. I also own the reformulated Ralph Lauren Blue.

I have Hot Couture edp and edt, the formulas just before it was just reformulated recently. I love them both and I prefer the edp for these months.

Old Falling In Love was the best. I use it sparingly. 😏

Hi there! I used to have a bottle but it just smelled strange on me. It’s got a very strange note breakdown. It’s definitely a test before you buy. ❤️
I have a small bottle of Light Blue. Must be new. It's very weak. Does not last. I used to love it.

My guess would be that it has. Burberry has been slowly reformulating and updating the packaging on a lot of their fragrances. 😭
Addict fa here!
Pure Wonder by BBW.... is a wearable version of Alien that I've been looking for!
Yay! ❤️
Whole heartedly agree. The new formulation of Burberry is nasty.
Thanks ❤

Alien is reformulated a lot... I had both.
One bad and really sad reformulated perfume is Lancôme Poeme 😢😢 It has no lasting power anymore 😭😭🇮🇪💕☘️
I totally agree! Pascal Morabito Sultan Or is very similar to the original Poeme and is so much more affordable. ❤️
The same with Tresor the original 😢 I absolutely adore it but is sooo weak and no projection and it used to be a monster sillage and longevity
