Okay, my daughter and I just made the ghosts -- SO cute!! Our tomato cages were on the small side, so I put them in a couple of large outdoor plastic pots. We used plastic bowls for the heads and hot-glued half-round styrofoam balls to the bottom of the bowls to round out the flat bottoms. Wish I could post a picture. Thank you SO much for inspiring me to do something fun this afternoon -- Yay!
If you're going to light up the ghosts, it will look infinitely better if you use a transparent plastic or glass bowl from the dollar store rather than the styrofoam head because there will be nothing blocking the light and the entire ghost will illuminate.
I am so doing this. I have an 80 year old house with a big front porch that has steps jutting out into the yard, with low brick walls on each side of the steps. These will look awesome on those low walls. And I'm even thinking of decorating my fairy garden with small versions for spooky season!
One, I remeber when you made the spider!! Two the roman shade is so colorful & brings me a sense of joy looking at it. & three these are so freakin cool Serena!! They were mad CREEPY until you added the sheets LOL!!! Hoping all is well my friend, Dirty Jersey out!!!
Hey Mike!! Yessss, I love that freakin' spider!! It was so fun to make and still looks good and the lights still work! As for the DIY shades, I'm soooo glad I picked that fabric. You should have seen the other fabric I was going to pick. 😳😳😳 And lastly, yeah, the human-like heads are scary looking. I think the Styrofoam heads were less creepy! But more expensive. :)
Love this, you could also use 2 of Dollar Tree's medium size clear plastic bowls and glue them together for the head and that way the lights would shine through the bowls. After you glue them together, you could drill a hole in it to stuff a few lights in the 2 bowls . Either way you do it, I love it!!
Omgosh Serena, I love the idea of using styrofoam manikin heads!!! You're right, so much cheaper than the styrofoam balls Mine, after all these years, need to be remade and let me tell you, I can't find felt or styrofoam balls at Walmart and they are so expensive on Amazon. I'm headed to HL this morning so I'll look there and also run by the larger Dollar Tree in town. Thanks for the idea! I love that you still have my old pictures and directions up! Great refresher on how to do these!
Different expressions on the Ghost faces would be hilarious 😂 ... I wanna try this diy ... I love Halloween 😁😁😁😁😁😁 coming from a huge Scream Ghost face Fan
You could do a witch version as well: paint the face green, add a hat and use a black sheet around the neck (instead of over the head)! So fun!!

Hmmm...Dollar Tree has Styrofoam skulls right now that would work for the head. 🤔 Love this!
Even more affordable! Wow, I will have to check that out!
Awesome!

Aww those are adorable
They're so fun! Really easy to make, too. :) Thank you!
I love the way these turned out!!!
The Goodwill or The Salvation Army would be good places to find sheets for this.
Definitely! I just didn't have time to go looking for them. Ross was right next to The Dollar Tree. Convenience won! LOL
@ThriftDiving completely understandable. 👍🏾

What a great idea! I'm going to the dollar store tomorrow to get the supplies so I can make one.❤😊❤
Have fun! They won't take you any time at all to make. :)

This is so cute!
Thanks so much, Marie!
❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cool idea. I’d say go smaller if using items from the dollar store and using the head seems unnecessary unless the design is altered.
She needed something for the head of the ghost and the heads were cheaper than Styrofoam balls.
I would put the face lower so the light shines through in that area better.
@@arleneclark6369Great idea!!! Tonight I'll shift them down and see how it looks! I would agree, the heads were too dark. I'm going to try that!
Well, you could probably use balloons, too, but the tips of the tomato cages could pop them. Anything that will give it a rounded head.
How do you secure the sheet in wind so it doesn’t fly over the head and expose the cage?
Great question! You can glue little weights to the inside of the sheets to weight them down!
@@ThriftDiving thank you
How tall are the tomato cages in this video?
Hmmm....I think they're 36" tall.
@@ThriftDiving thank you
I feel like the head needs to be lit up. Thanks for the great ideas though!
