Cabin in the Sky is an INSTANT BUY! Love that movie!!!
🙌
One of the best MGM musicals I have seen. The soundtrack has a ton of what has become Jazz Standards and the cast is really good
I really enjoy your Warner Archives videos. I bought two of your last recommendations - "Tarzan the Ape Man" and "Wichita" - and loved them both so I'll definitely check out a few of these as well. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks very very much! So glad you picked up and enjoyed those! Yeah WAC just continues to quietly crank out Blu-ray gems and on here for it
Same, just watched Tarzan the other day. Wish I knew if they were continuing on with them, don't know if I should just try and collect the dvds of the sequels or wait.
the best part of this episode is when you just turned around and pulled out that scream factory disc to compare with the new edition - i loved that
Haha, I hate to improvise in these things but thankfully it was right there and easy to reach :)
More Marx Bros on blu-ray? Oh yes please!
Yesss!
Refreshing. I am totally over 4K reviews of films that came out on Blu-ray over the past couple years just to hear, "Same film, better picture and sound."
Thx
Harry Beaumont also directed the original BROADWAY MELODY. William Keighley also was the host of Lux Radio Theater replacing DeMille in the mid 1940s; mostly because of an affable nature and a great speaking voice.
Cool 👌
Love WAC. I think the quality of their transfers recently has rivaled uhds. Some of these classic era films really aren't going to look much better in 2160p. Another Minnelli film that I think is a real gem is Home from the Hill. It's epic in a similar way that Giant is but has a dash of Douglas Sirk sprinkled in. I don't often hear people mention it, but that's probably because Minnellis catalog is so
deep.
You know I’ve always meant to watch HOME FROM THE HILL but never have. Moving it onto my watchlist, thank you!
@JustTheDiscs I think you'll dig it. A nice WAC disc too.
More addenda:Erich Wolfgang Korngold also wrote the great score for Michael Curtiz (and William Keighley's) ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD , again with ErrolFlynn,Claude Rains, and Alan Hale.
Great music
