  • So here we finish the last layer of this most entertaining of 3x3x3 mods. Hang around for the end, where I pose a new challenge, and answer an old one.
    Enjoy!

      I dont't know how vivaldi never noticed this while solving the cube, but there are 3 trapezoid pieces that can also give "false parity." the only real way to solve this is just replacing that part of the bottom cross with the trapezoid in the top and resolving whatever you disturb in the middle layer

  • @mahshugger
    @mahshugger 8 років тому +2

    Those "false equivocations" with the little triangular pieces were killing me! Your R2/L2 switcharoo solved that, and I finished my cube. This was by far the hardest 3x3 mod I've ever tried. It took me several hours over several days. I appreciated the difficulty, but I see the possibility of pieces that can be "falsely equivocated" as something of a design flaw. Do you have any thoughts on that? Great video as usual.

    • @SuperAntoniovivaldi
      @SuperAntoniovivaldi  8 років тому +3

      Good question, and I think false equivocation is either an inevitable consequence of the puzzles planned design and shape, or an actual pre planned strategy to enhance the challenge. In the former, you can see this with the bubbloid and the megamorphix puzzles, as the look and shape of the puzzle can only be achieved using equivalent pieces. In that way, false equivalency emerges out of the overall shape. In the latter instance, although I can't be sure, I think Ben's Platinum cube (the ghost version of the master skewb) was deliberately designed to confuse and confound the solver, which included two pieces from different orbits that could be equivocated. Either way, it certainly does add a fun dimension of challenge :)

  • @grcubed
    @grcubed 10 років тому

    I think the world needed a detailed tutorial for this puzzle. By the way, do you prefer the puzzle with the two similar corner pieces or you prefer the hand-made version, where every piece is unique? I kinda enjoy the corner "parity" on the last layer.)
    I would love to see a walk through solve where the first layer is the of center one as you mentioned on the previous video.
    If any of the puzzle manufacturing companies is watching this, I definitely vote for mass producing the master ghost cube.

    • @SuperAntoniovivaldi
      @SuperAntoniovivaldi  10 років тому

      I enjoy the hand made one because of how smooth it moves, but I have to admit that having that little extra challenge with possible false equivocation makes the mass produced one appealing. I would imagine that the middle layer first solve is a lot like the "Hells cuboid" solve, but I'll give it a whirl :)

    Okay I have two corner pieces in the right place (making one final side) and oriented correctly and two that are not. I know you said that the problem is that one of them in the bottom but that is impossible for me. I tried replacing the small triangles and they were not flat once they were swapped. I also looked at your old video and you did not state what to do if none of the corners were in the correct placement you were lucky and had one that was fine. I was not lucky and had none and you left me lost. I had never done the corners like that on a 3x3 so I had no idea what I was supposed to do to fix it.
    :( everything else was great an all but you literally got me at a stand still.

    • @SuperAntoniovivaldi
      @SuperAntoniovivaldi  10 років тому

      This is addressed at around 1:58 in this video. Basically, this happened because the two opposite edges are upside down. The other possibility is that you have an edge in the top layer that actually belongs in the bottom layer. In other words, you falsely equivocated two edges. Look closely at the bottom layer and make sure that all pieces fit exactly.
