  • Dover is a city in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. In 1806 Christian Deardoff and Jeffe Slingluff purchased 2000 acres of land, the development of Dover began in 1825. Dover became a rail stop in 1854. Dover once was the only Ohio canal stop in the region. Camp Meigs was established in 1861, at what later became the Tuscarawas County Fair grounds. Camp Meigs was a northern military training base during the American Civil War.
