- In this video, we are going to be taking a look at a 1974 Nelson 40 Pilot Boat that is currently listed for sale with De Valk Yacht brokers and that, in 2016, benefitted from a comprehensive rebuild and refit.
This is a beautiful example of a very popular offshore coastal cruiser. A big thanks to De Valk Yacht Brokers for letting me use their footage and images.

Refreshing to see a boat that hasn't been burdened with multiple closed off spaces to create pokey sleeping spaces. Separation of the shower and toilet spaces also seems to suit this boat very well. The refit has been very well thought out. There can't be many near 50-year old boats that are sensible buys, but I'd say this is one.

Thank you so much for showing off this wonderful all weather vessel. Just when I thought you could not out do yourself. You my friend showed this. I want her. "O" like you. If had the Uros or Dollar US. Just think of this going alongside a Ship in a very high sea state plus a raging tidal change on Large River. The excellent pilots that control her, so a ship pilot can climb up a very small Ladder. And not fall to his or her Death. The Helm station to die for. What a set up. To just think you could go out when others sit at the Dock. This is the vessel for me. Saw a set up like this on a Canadian Underwater Range security vessel for a open house tours on Vancouver Island Canada. The vessel sits on station. No matter the weather. Then if NOISE from other vessels goes inside Firing Range, it has to go Block that vessels make it STOP its engines.
Very much the same set up below Decks with a big galley area. And head.

i like this boat too, very much so!
A great boat and very well updated, I like the fiddle rails around the cooker, in my opinion a necessity. Not perfect though, those flimsy wooden doors to the saloon could easily be breached by a heavy sea and no raised threshold to keept water out, don't like the glass door at the stern either. In rough weather it would be a very wet boat. Would also liked to have seen some rails at the bow, I certainly wouldn't like to be out there at sea, not without a lifeline.
Some nice touches on there. I’m in the middle of a bare hull refit on a Nelson 45. Hopefully will be at least up to this standard when she’s done!

Indeed I did - I mentioned her air draft rather than her draft. From memory, her draft is under 1-metre 🙌

There's and identical( original) one for sale in full working order in the UK for £9k . its needs a full refit inside but is in fully serviced working order mechanically and ready to use . This one in the video at nearly 300k euros is insanely over priced !!!
