      Thanks for watching Wayne! I love hearing that the videos are helping people. That’s the main reason I started this channel two years ago was so people could follow along and maybe get some insight. Remember most of what I do is the budget way so yes there are more expensive options if you can afford them. But if you’re a middle class working guy like I am then hopefully most of what I do is affordable for you and will lead to an acceptable finished product. If you wanna post some pictures and updates of your Nova build as you do it, join the Bad Luck Garage Facebook group. Link is in the description of every video and we’d love to have you!

    Fixing to do this on my 72 427 big block nova it's been 6.21 @ 114mph in the 1/8th with a small block & took the whole shut down to get stopped with four wheel drum. Now that it has a 427 big block & runs 6.90s on motor i'm not gonna risk it now with the nitrous on the big block.

    • @BadLuckGarage

      Honestly if you’re planning to be running 114+ in the 1/8 I’d probably be looking at something better than these stock style brakes brother.

      No, we bought this conversion kit and proportion valve before we bought the master cylinder so we ended up with a spare valve.

      Yes from a truck, no didn’t change anything. You can see all the brackets,etc I’m the video where we installed the engine.

    Did you get the Booster/Master combo on the car? What name did you go with? Oh, you said the rear brake lines to proportioning valve wrong or backwards.

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  5 років тому +1

      Everything we've done so far to this is covered in the DR Nova playlist brother. And the Proportioning valve installs exactly as stated. Although you can swap the input and output on the rears brakes if you want. It doesn't effect operation but the input line nut is a larger diameter so unless someone has swapped the lines out on them, it can only be installed as I explained.

    I have a quick question about the disc conversion. I have a '74 Olds Omega, the twin to the Nova and I did the conversion. I was running 14 inch wheels with the drum brakes and I found that the caliper bracket rubs on the inside of the wheel. The manufacturer said that light grinding on the bracket will fix that problem. Did you have the same issue and were you able to fix it?

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  5 років тому

      Hello Jes, thanks for watching! We were using 15” wheels and had no issue but I’m sure a little slight grinding on the bracket wouldn’t hurt anything. If 15” wheels fit without grinding than I can’t imagine you would have to take much material off for the 14” wheels to fit IF it was the same kit we used. If it was a different kit then I really can’t say as I haven’t used a different kit. 🤷‍♂️

      @@jamesseekford4928 The bearings ride on the spindle. You pack the bearings as shown in the video. If you want to throw more grease on the spindle you can but it’s pointless as long as you packed the bearings as shown in the video.

    I'm in need of serious help. I've been through the ringer with my brakes on 73 Nova. Bought the booster kit suggested in another video. Bled the system, the front brakes do not engage. New conversion kit installed, new calipers. Would I need an upgrade on calipers to performance set? Please help, I think it may be cursed lol

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  5 років тому

      Did you bench bleed the master cylinder before installing? All the air has to be out of the system and when you install a new master and all new calipers it takes a loooong time to bleed all the air out. I bet Ray and I bled all four corners for about an hour before we got a solid pedal. If you’ve done all that and still not getting anything then you may need to contact the seller/manufacturer because you may have gotten a bad booster or master cylinder.

    • @dyingscream
      @dyingscream 5 років тому

      @@BadLuckGarage yes I did bench bled. The rear is grabbing but the front, nothing. This is the 4th set of booster and master I've installed. Man I'm going insane on this. Maybe I'm not bleeding right, but I don't see bubbles and the fluid is coming out the calipers. Do you have a bled video?

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  5 років тому

      It shows how to bench bleed the master cylinder in the master cylinder video. As for the brakes, the main thing is don’t let the master cylinder fluid level get below about half way while bleeding the brakes. We went through two large bottles of brake fluid before we got all the air out and front brakes working well. If the master cylinder is good and front brakes aren’t working, the only thing it could be that I can think of is either the wrong proportion valve, air is still trapped in the lines somewhere, or pressure/fluid is leaking somewhere. Other than that I don’t know what else could cause the issue. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @dyingscream
      @dyingscream 5 років тому

      @@BadLuckGarage I'm beginning to think the master isn't enough to push the caliper piston. Have you ran into this? The calipers have a lifetime warranty I can return

      Ideally on a project like this I prefer to purchase an entire front end kit and replace everything at once. But the previous owner had already replaced most of the components so Ray chose to only replace the components that needed to be replaced.
