I’ve always preferred at the nock ANYWAY, because I get much better feedback in my hand when I address the string. The feel/sound of my tab plate hitting my nock eliminates me having to verify that my tab is in the correct location before making my crawl. Solid advice brother man!
Good that I'm not making any mistakes you mentioned. 😅 I'm using the Black Mamba T3 Tab, wichtig has alternating short and long lines. That makes it easier to remember and pick the crawls.
Thanks so much, that was a very clear instruction. I have to improve my technique. The Yost tab with so many tiny marks needs very good eyes? Too many marks makes it diffcult to count them, a source of mistakes? My personal preference is the Zniper tab with removable marks.
Glad it was helpful! Marks do get confusing for sure. That’s why I don’t like counting threads. I’ll be doing a video in the near future on how to read a tab quickly without counting marks!
People using threads is an artifact of an old rule system. The rule was changed about 20 years ago, but a lot of the information out there still referred to using stitching until about 10 years ago. I think that's because the rule hadn't been changed in the US for NFAA until about then? Sight tapes weren't allowed as recently as 2014, but are obviously legal now (Fairweather's tab is a good example, World Archery issued an interpretation in 2020).
Yes but not with great accuracy. Few reasons but one is that the can’t is NEVER the same. Yes it will be close but it’s something we can’t really control. We just know we’re canting. We do it by feel. But the ground has a massive influence on our body and therefore the angle of our core therefore the angle of the bow. Add a tree stand. Now you’ve added downward angle so many factors. This would actually make a great TEST 👍. Anyway assuming you are hunting if using a fixed crawl. It’ll be “accurate enough”
That is an NAP center rest on a HOYT SATORI tomorrow I will be filming a portion of an upcoming video LIVE on Instagram and probably on THE PUSH Facebook group
I really like my Yost tab for 3 under but because I shoot a #35 bow I prefer split finger for shots above 45 yards. I was thinking about cutting a Yost tab for split finger to have the same properties for release as for 3 under. Is this a good idea or is there a better solution? I am 71 years young and I only anticipate my poundage decreasing in the future. I have been using a split finger tab outdoors but even though it is cordovan the release properties are not the same. Any thoughts are appreciated.
I’d personally just go with a different tab, one with a spacer, which keeps the fingers from pinching the arrow which is more beneficial than you think. Shooting with the split however puts a limitation to your distances. Literally 1 point on distance +- a couple yards in either direction. Not sure what kind of shooting you’re doing. But a 3 finger under with a “Hold over” might be a good option. In lieu of shooting multiple tabs.
Marks and stitches are overrated since own markings on tape are allowed. The tabs you show are actually quite bad, as the tape has to cover all of the factory made engravings to follow the rule book. So it is much better to have just a light laser engraving, which can be sanded down and replaced with a tape.
Loving that you are doing these tutorials! Thank you
You are most welcome! More to come. Please share….

You only mentioned Bicaster barebow tab once but the brass one is amazing !
It’s my “go to” tab
Knot versus nick hit home for me. I usually use the knot. Thanks for correcting me
Great to hear Chris. Glad I can help! Please share!
I kept thinking something was off, something didn't look right. Then it hit me. I'm left handed lol thanks Matty
Excellent video!! Thanks!
Cat spotted at 3:27 and 10:05.
But did you notice 2 different cats?
@@MattYacca Haha! I didn't notice that.
Nice video Matt

I think it would easier to differentiate by saying nocking point / nock when placing your tab!
Can you use a fixed crawl for someone who shoots their bow canted?

What rest do you have on the bow you’re demonstrating with?

@ Awesome! Thanks! I’ll be watching for it!
